Hey Judy, I forgot to tell you that I made your Turkey Soup yesterday and it was a huge hit with the family. The house smelt so good.

Hi girls!

Welcome home Pamela, take some time to unwind and relax a bit--but hurry back, we missed ya!!

Judy, I ended up at the Dr.'s today. We met up with Manda and Kinsey for lunch....actually brunch, because my granddaughter wanted pancakes! And the whole time I am eating my salad, my throat felt itchy. I actually caught myself, not chewing things quite as well as I should wanting to use the roughage to scratch my throat! So I went in to see if they would give me a RX for a new Epi pen, without waiting to be seen since I was afraid the itchy was hives invading my throat. I could feel them in my cheeks, on the inside. Well he wanted to look at me, so he finally fit me in, and guess what? I have hives! DUH! So I have a new epi pen, and am working through my diet, and all, but I KNOW it is likely something I will never figure out. I had them before and we finally deduced they were stress related. I fought them for months. Luckily not to a point of hospitalization. But right now I have some between my toes, and I am a bitchy, whiny, mad woman!

Got Mom's shopping done. Did a couple of things of mine. But everything I wanted, they did not have. And I was impatient and not in the greatest of moods to shop!

Brunch was great though.....doing my best to get past being angry/upset with my DD. I felt quite blessed to be there with my Mom, DD, and granddaughter. When my DD was about Kinsey's age, my Mom, my Grandma and I all went to Disneyland together. I would love to do it with Kinsey, but my Mom is not up to keeping up like my Grandma was. She has fibromyalgia, and is in pain all too often.

I have Turkey/green chile casserole in the oven, cornbread in the oven, and Rick just called that he is going to be late.....grrrrrrr

Tracy--well both Tracy's, and anyone else who might be interested....Becky and I found and printed Letters from Santa on line last night. There are several places you can do it with several different wording options. It is a thing where you fill in the name, what they want, something they are doing---like starting school, or having a good grade, etc. On some you can have friends or pets mentioned. It mentions your town, and for them to go to bed early and to leave Snacks for him and the reindeer! And they ask what your child ask for so it can be mentioned. Then when you fill in the answers, it formats the letter with their name in the header, and all the info. Then when you finish, one even has a place you can print your envelope with a "postmark" of the Northpole, and then just sneak it in the mailbox. But in cases like Kinsey, she is too young to even know about postmarks.

Anyway, we ended up using them off of 2 different sites--one has a special one for kids who have seen Santa at the mall. Just search for FREE letters from Santa--you will find them. They even have funny ones about being naughty for adults!

No snow here.....good thing I am not waiting for that snow to kiss Rick!! LOL But massive wind again. Ripped my door panel off my car door. I was in the van, and when I parked at Target, I opened the door and the wind gusted and I grabbed the door handle, and it popped those little plastic like screws out,and the panel come loose! The door is upholstered to match the interior, and has all the controls for the locks, all the windows, the mirrors----everything on it! Rick is gonna be so happy.....

Well I am off to take dinner out of the oven, even though no one is gonna eat yet!

Catch y'all after while!

Kat

Good Morning, Violets..

It's still a winter wonderland outside. I slept in til 8:45 so don't know if schools are closed or not. We got another inch of snow last night, but I don't have to shovel today. My arms are sore this morning from the shoveling yesterday. But at least the hot tub was relaxing last night.

Jenn..Good luck to you at the docs today. My living room is eggshell white simply because it's so small. Any dark color would make it smaller. DD has a huge living room and their walls are chocolate and beige off of a robin's egg blue diningroom.

Tracy.. mail is usually not too bad and Dec. 14th should be fine for mailing. I say that knowing I already have my Secret Santa gifts.. :)

Off to get dressed for my hospital shift. Will check back later. Everyone have a great day!!!

Good morning! Woke up and it was a little chilly this morning... Ice on my car, yuck...

Got my tree up last night but Juan came home really late so we didn't get any of the lights up. Got my laundry sorted and ready to wash but didn't end up doing a single load. Both my sisters came over and we ended up just gabbing and watching shows on tv...

I feel like I'm so behind! I've gotten just one Christmas present. ONE. I still have like 37 to go, LOL! I don't want to wait till the last minute like always! I've got tons to do every week and never seem to find the time...

LUCKILY, i've got no weddings planned this month...

Jenn - I had my gallbladder taken out because of the pain I was going through. It's a pretty painless procedure and I only needed a weekend to heal.

Oh my living room is painted a warm apricot color. It's actually called Aztek brick. It's a huge living area with 12 foot ceilings and I needed a pretty warm color to make it cozy...

My living room is a deep eggplant purple color.

I am so tired, I have such a hard time getting up for work these days. Doesn't help that Russell won't let me turn the heat up past 68 and he keeps our ceiling fan on. I'm like a popsicle every morning.

Still trying to defrost with personal heater at work.. brr.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
