I would hope that everyone would get their hard earned $ back as the seminar was cancelled not just because the person couldn't go...... The right thing to do is to return the money...... I am commenting because I got the thread to this and feel that Cher should make sure everyone gets their money back.... Good luck!

Thanks for your response. Everyone who has asked for a refund will be receiving one.

You look fabulous. I have been banded since 9-2007 and have been at goal for 10 months. So great to see others with longer success still doing great. It makes me hopeful that this is finally for life. Thanks. Cyndi in Pocatello

I am looking to go to Juarez Mexico for the lap band surgery, the price is quite a bit cheaper there due to the low cost of living. has any one been there to get this done? What was your experience etc thanks!!

I've heard good and bad things about having the surgery in Mexico. But one problem is the lack of aftercare. The process doesn't end with the surgery. You will need follow up care and adjustments to the band. Also, as you lose weight, you may need additional adjustments (fills). It is very difficult to find medical providers who will treat someone who had their surgery done by someone else. (I think there are malpractice issues, among other things.) This has become a major problem for lap people. My doctor moved away and it has taken me a year to find a surgery group that would agree to give me an adjustment, and I have to provide medical records and a recent barium swallow test before they'll set up an appointment. When you decide where you'll have the surgery, make sure that there's aftercare available where you live. There's a company called Fill Centers USA (or something like that). I don't know how good they are, but they are constantly announcing that they're opening up at new locations. You might want to see if there's one in your area.

I agree with what Ilene said. I would also suggest that you find the fill center before the surgery, so that you can provide the fill Dr's name to your surgeon. They may be able to provide all the records directly to the fill office. Additionally, your local fill Dr may be able to provide you with the name of a surgeon he/she is familiar with in Mexico. As this seems to be commonplace now, it would be logical for a surgeon in Mexico to work with a fill Dr or office here.

Good luck on your journey!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
