November Exercise Challenge

Recommended Posts

This new job is kicking my ass. As is some kind of cold/virus, our drenching, multi-day rains, and my walking partner the dog unable to walk thanks to a swollen foot.

So today all I did was a 20 minute walk, followed by weight and core work this morning. It's 6:30 p.m., dark, pouring, cold, and I'm only at 4800 steps for the day, but I don't know if I can drag myself out.

Motivation, please find me!

ceradad - where you hiding????, i've not even teased you about the GMEN!!!:cool2:

yesterday -

nothing, sticking to my wed off rule.

today -

3.25mile bike warm up

90min session w/trainer - all body, weight & resistance

20min run

Had Monday off from work and took the time to soothe the wounds. Tues thru Thur hiding at EMT refresher class. You can save the teasing for later, I knew it was going to be ugly, but had hopes.:frown:

As for exercise:

Monday-upper body workout and 65 minutes of cardio.

Tues-Leg workout and 65 min cardio

Wed-65 min cardio

Thur-had my practical exams for EMT and just couldn't do cardio and then those. After class, we had to unwind at the local beverage establishment. So, day off from working out.

Today-55 min of cardio this morning. Tonight will be upper body again.

How did you do, Georgia?

I did housework for 4 hours yesterday...does that count? If not, I was a blob yesterday. Feeling a little 'blechy' today; have yet to see if I can get my rear in gear and do something.

Friday

6.5 miles walking

ab work

weight training

Saturday

NOTHING - came home from jewelry class and went to bed. This is one of those colds where I feel almost fine, until I try to do something. Blech.

Sunday (today)

1.5 miles - I think, after retrieving my pedometer from the pocket of my just-washed jeans. Sigh. Cold on the brain as well as in the nose ... I'll try some ab and weight training later, if my body agrees.

Yesterday-leg workout and 35 minutes on elliptical.

Today-too lazy to get to the gym before church. Got a call from work to come in for some O.T. So, I went home to catch some football and then came in to work. Going to be a bad/tough week for working out. Here until midnight, then back at 0800 tomorrow. Will have to workout tomorrow night after work, going to be TIRED!

Double on Tuesday for the holiday (gotta love holiday OT:thumbup:) Off on Wednesday, but have to take truck in for brake work it looks like (there goes holiday OT). Back in for OT on Thursday, work on Friday and Saturday. Going to be a LONNNNNG week. Especially with DW going out of town Wed-Fri for work. Just me and DD.

Yay Georgia!

As for me...yesterday was a complete and total failure. Not only did I not do anything, I grazed all day. Nothing was safe - in the fridge, on the counter, in the freezer, in a cupboard. Let the chastizing begin....

Today - 45 minutes hard cycling; 20 minutes upper body/arms; 30 min brisk walk.

Hi - I'm late to this one...but I"m here.

Georgia and I ran the 5K Saturday - whoohoo! I finished and that was my goal (ended up running 6K for me - shhh I got lost - lol). Anyway my next goal is to do it under 45 - there is a race in March I want to do. I then went to the fair Saturday night and walked alot then.

Sunday - took the day off - other than housework and folding clothes, vacuuming, mopping...all that jazz

Monday - I did 15 minutes on the elliptical - my thighs are still really sore. I then got into the sauna and relaxed. I have Zumba class tonight - definately going to shake my Thang! Hey GG - you doing zumba this week?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
