Lap Band Cookbook Anyone?

Recommended Posts

I found the book "Eating Well After Weightloss Surgery" by Patt Levine (a bandster herself). I was in Borders wasting time and found it, it is the coolest thing ever!!! I came back excited to share with everybody only to search and find that I hadn't "discovered" it, LOL DARN!! It came out in 2004. What I think is so cool about it is that for every recipe it has serving guidelines for -Lap-Band (weeks 1-4(puree), 5-8, and 9+) it also has guidelines for bypass, and other WLS. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, as I just bought it today, but they all look pretty easy. It has Breakfast through Desserts and all are high Protein, low fat, and "good" carbs. Good intro too. Anyway, look forward to trying some stuff out.

I got this book a week or two ago off of Amazon. I will be trying my first recipe from it tomorrow night. :bored:

I originally was putting a cookbook together - and had a ton of submissions... now I am doing a recipe section in a magazine for bandsters (FREE MAGAZINE) that will have articles in it too... something we can hold and read...

Holler if you want to submit a recipe or article... some articles will be paid articles... email me at publisher@wlsmag.com for more info.

I am planning on printing the first round in june - for July distribution.

Some of it is done for the first round (BUT there is still room for more!!)... minus advertisers to cover the cost... so I am still working on that...

But it will be a free magazine. - which is always good! AND published quarterly for the moment, would love for it to go to monthly - but just can't yet... quarterly is better than nothing though. :seeya:

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE if someone put one together. I would even BUY it!! Someone about a year ago was going to create one, bind them and sell them but never came about. I think its a great idea for someone to do to make some side money!

If someone does this, remember me because Im NO COOK whatso ever and would LOVE something like this!!:wink2:

Hello everyone!-It's been almost 2 years since my banding (08|14|07) and I am happy to say I am very pleased with my progress! I'm down about 65lbs=) and counting! I am sure I don't have to say this, but living with the Lapband has been quite a journey. I am sure all of us have our stories-right? I could go on and on but I want to get right to the point-feel free to contact me once you have read the post!

I have begun to collect recipes for all stages of the lapband journey so that I may write and publish a cool, witty, cookbook. My goal is to write a book that we as "bandsters" can enjoy without giving up flavor or more importantly, leaving out the other members of the family or "non-bandsters" lol With that said- I know I have become extremely clever when it comes to recipes and food ideas that work with my lapband without skimping on flavor, or making me sick- So I can only imagine what you guys have come up with! Well I want to find out- WHAT ARE YOU GUYS COOKING!? How creative have you become to eat well and respect the lapband,AND keyword feed the entire family?? Please get back to me with your recipes MAINDISHES,Entrees,DESSERTS,appetizers,Soups whatever you guys have created that you want to share send it to me!! After all,who says eating healthy has to taste bad or be boring? I invite you guys to share your recipes, tips, and overall input to get the book done! I have been blessed with the creativity of an artist and the wit of a very well seasoned "home-cook" for the last 15 years, I have cooked, catered, and hosted my share of dinner parties-ALL of which has allowed me to come up with some great dishes that I have refined or reinvented since I had my surgery-I am always learning, experimenting, and trying new ideas! Food|cooking should be fun so to those that have given up on great taste and food enjoyment-NO THANKS lol! Lets eat! I would also welcome the advice of anyone out there who can help me get a publisher once the book is done, I am quite serious and want to help as many of us as possible, please help me with this project any and ALL advice is welcomed! I will respond to anyone who is serious and willing to help get the book done, thanks guys looking forward to hearing from you!

This is a GREAT idea, Kevin! I wish I could say I had some recipes to contribute, but I'm just not that creative in the kitchen. I guess the most creative thing I've done in the last two years is to make spaghetti sauce w/healthy ingredients.... canned diced tomatoes, canned Tomato sauce or puree, ground turkey, sliced mushrooms, onion, garlic, a dash of red wine, Italian seasoning. And then serve it over french style green Beans instead of Pasta. One of my favorite "bandster" meals. Had it this week. Sprinkled some Feta cheese on top instead of the usual Parmesean/Romano.

I know some people on other threads who are much more creative than I so I will try to direct them over here. Keep us posted on your efforts.

If it is a cookbook or magazine, I know that it cost extra but pictures would be wonderful

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
