WHY are people voting for McCain?

IF the economy is the #1 issue in America why would you vote for McCain? He stated not long ago (Sept 15,2008) that the fundamentals of our economy is good:blink:. Seriously? Then just today or yesterday, he said the problem with the economy is corporate greed and would have a commission (much like the like 9/11 commission) study it. WTF?! So basically he is saying he doesn't want to deal with the economy! AND lets not forget his TOP economic advisor stated just a few months ago in JUNE/JULY of THIS year that there was nothing wrong with our economy and that the American people were a bunch of "whiners". Does this sound like a person who is for the people? It is just infuriating to me that this race has become "tight"! I mean it's pretty bad when Karl Rove says the McCain campaign is lying and running a bad campaign!! UGH I will never understand what people see in McCain!

I haven't seen any of the Republican candidates address this idiocy of "fairness". Biden froths at the mouth saying, re: taxing people who make over $250k/year, "I call that fair". Obama talks about "fairness" in raising taxes on people he, in his infinite wisdom, classifies as "rich."

Why the hell is it FAIR to ever take someone's money away just because you think it is? SInce when is it OK to decide that someone doesn't deserve what they've earned?

Yup, I heard that, too. If YOU want to be patriotic with your money, go for it. But don't STEAL my money and tell me you're doing it "for the greater good", "to be patriotic", or "because it's fair". It's just plain theft, redistribution of wealth, and socialism. The question of how much money someone needs to have to be called "rich" (in order to determine how much they get taken away from them) shouldn't be answered with a numerical response. It should be answered, "None of your damn business."

Regardles of your political views, you have to admit they were very good.

OK this is rich.

Anyone who watched the debate last night or TV this morning know who Joe the Plumber is. You know the plumber who does not like Obama's tax plan because it would hurt his future plumbing buisness. Well here are a few facts about Joe the Plumber that McCain could not stop talking about last night:

Joe has not plumbing license

He has a tax lien against him

He is a register republican (although he says he does not know who he will vote for)

He has had more press conferences then Palin

John McCain sure can pick them.

Most of my views are conservative...accidentally voted for Bush. Voting for Obama for sure this time. Have any of you even watched any of the debates? LOL! Why does McCain always try to twist Obama's words. I am so glad that Obama always gets in the corrections. Listen to what the candidates say themselves. Listen! McCain is constantly saying to all that Obama wants to raise your taxes. How many of you on this forum make a quarter of a milllion dollars a year? 80 percent of us have suffered from this down economy.

Not to mention Palin. Did anyone see the Katie Couric interview? Pretty sad!

Hi, I'm jumping in on this chat, and i haven't read all the back threads, but the topic ? interested me. I am voting for mcCain because between the two we have to choose from, He is the one who values life. If you think that it is ok to kill a living human being in the womb, what make me think you care at all about preschoolers and their education or Joe the plumber? Obama supports abortion choice, and did not vote against partial birth abortions either. And all he talks about is $pending more money. $pend! $pend! $pend! Where is he going to get the money to give teachers higher pay? He wants to take from the rich and give to the poor. Like he said, Exxon has plenty. Whatever happened to free enterprise? I'm not rich by any means, but if you go to school, sacrifice, work hard, and become successful, why should you have to pay more? Taxes should be equal around the board for everyone. He says for every new program he starts, he will make sure he ends one that is useless. How does that save us money? Instead he should end all the useless, costly programs and not start up any new ones. (look at all the money he spent on his campaign! it's sickening!) McCain knows how to save us money. He has experience with that. Spending freezes and eliminating programs is a priority! I know how to budget my family income. If I had a housecleaner coming once a week and could no longer afford her, I would fire her before I went out and got a second job to pay her salary. I might have to stop eating out so much and get rid of cable. (it's not a NEED, it's a WANT) Any Jerk can budget their spending, but their moral character is what I feel really matters. Sara Palin is a woman with good, clean virtue. She is a wife and mother and a governor and she is a Christian woman with high moral standards that I can respect. These are the kinds of people I want at the White House.

Believe me, neither of those 2 candidates were my pick (I wanted Huckabee) but we have to choose the lesser of the two evils. They both lie concerning their promises, (They want to get elected!) So, let's choose the ones who feel that marriage should be between one man and one woman and the ones who feel unborn human lives are worth saving.(at least they have some form of moral code.)

I'm voting for obama ...he want more money for education and I do support the right to have a abortion.I also support gay marriages.

That's why this is america we can all do as we want...I wanted hillary but obama will do.

It is so sad to hear such judgmental people. I am Christian too, but I have grown up to respect people and the choices that they make. There is too much going on in my life to be so concerned about what choices people are making for their own lives. Some of you sound like you have no diversity in your lives. Do you have gay friends that you love and still tell them to their faces that they do not have a right to be together? If it is such a sin and God is frowning upon them, then he is frowning down upon you and me and everyone in that case. Because last I can remember God loves all. We all sin and who is anyone to say that one sin is greater than the other? People are going to continue having abortions legal or illegal. So many stories about women and children who have had illegal abortions and lost their own lives....there go two lives. If abortion is legal and safe, in my opinion it is safer than illegal. If we have the resources for a woman or child to have an abortion, then let that be their choice and their problem to take up with God. Because it is legal doesn't mean that YOU have to go and have it done. I do not know any woman that is happy to go and have an abortion. It is tough for anyone to be in such a situation. Keep your noses out of people's business. If some decides to sin...be glad that it is them and not you if that is how you feel. There is a whole world of people out there different races, religions and upbringings. Be glad that you have come from or have acquired a hard working mentality. Some people unfortunately have not been so lucky. If I made over 250K, I would be happy to be taxed more and "spread the wealth around" that is the kindest act. It just kills me how unfortunate some people are. Besides, who decides what someone should be paid. The hardest workers of all get paid the very least. What about teachers? They are paid pretty poorly, many of my frineds that are teachers have to have 2 jobs!!! Kids are growing up and being raised by teens as parents who offer them no direction...these kids start with a disadvantage from the start. It is not their faults that they do not have strong role models to learn from. There has to be someone out there who is willing to try and get to the root of the problems. Yes education has to be looked at...that is so key! You can't just expect people to change overnight. Everything happens for a reason. It is so sad. People are more concerned with their patronage to their political party than have an open mind. I have voted dem and rep...I am not stuck believing only one way is the way to go. I don't know...this all just makes me sad.
