have 100 lbs to lose..is it possible with lb??

Recommended Posts

I am almost at my year mark and have lost 94 pounds. Losing a 100 is very doable. just like everyone says. Don't be discouraged if it takes you a little longer to lose 100 pounds. My mom's friend has lap band and it took her 2 years to lose 100 but she has kept it off wonderfully. The slower you lose, the less likely you are to gain it back. i know its hard because Americans are used to instant gratification.

:redface:hello everyone,

i am in the process of getting approved and i'm researching which procedure to have...it is kinda driving me crazy..i want to have the lap band because of less risk and shorter recovery but i'm concerned that i'll only lose 60 lbs and stop losing... i know people have lost 100 lbs but it seems to be those who need to lose 150 lbs or more.. please write me and let me know of your situation or those you've heard of, like me... thanks so much... what a great forum  ... i'll be back to help others once i have mine, for sure...

best to you! judi

I had 120lbs to lose, not much more than you. It has been 1yr and a few weeks, and I have lost a little more than 94lbs. It is soo possible! I know if I had not bent the band rules, I would have been at my goal already. No regrets. Just do it!

It is definitely possible. I am 10 months out and have lost about 84 pounds so far and my goal is at least 100. I was also afraid of not losing all the weight I wanted to before I was banded but even if I "only" lost 40 or 60 pounds it would have been more then I would have lost on my own. anything is possible with the band!!!

good luck

Oh hell yes it is very possible...I have lost about 95lbs and have seen some that have lost more than that in less time than it has taken me. You can do it! Good luck!!! Joanie )

I need to lose 107. I am 4 month post op and have lost 48 pounds. I am sure I can hit my goal and keep all my internal parts

I think it is entirely possible. I am 7 months out and am almost at goal already, and I am still losing regularly. The key is to not lose track and keep following the bandster rules and eating sensibly throughout the journey.

I was at the surgeons office yesterday for a fill and met someone who lost 250 pounds banded. 250 POUNNDDSSS!!! I was so impressed.

My doctor says that the 50% to 60% averages shouldn't be taken too seriously in that YOU are responsible for how much you lose. You can reach any reasonable goal if you follow the plan, stay away from slider foods, get the exercise and make the band work with you. No reason to ever sell yourself short.

Anyway, I willlll reach my goal, and it is getting so close and can practically taste it. :0)

absolutely! i'm down about 160 pounds and just on a hold until i deliver my baby.

as long as you remember that the band is a tool and not a cure-all, you'll do fabulously. best of luck to you!

Judiboo, it is very doable! I have two friends (not on this forum) that were banded and both of them have lost over 100 lbs. It took one a year and the other about a year and 2 months. One is at goal and the other was like 345 when she started, but she's almost 6 foot, so she wants to get to like 185 as her goal. And as you see on this forum, there are hundreds more who have lost over 100 lbs. There is a thread somewhere with everybody's running totals of people who have lost over 100.

I worried too.. I thought I was going to lose 30 lbs and stop losing, but I'm coming close to 60 lbs now and my whole life has changed. Man, it feels good not being scared to sit in chairs or having my hip dig into the side of the car door when I drive. Things like this. I have never regretted my decision.

Good luck!

hi there

thanks for writing.. i do know that many lose 100 or even 200 lbs but i'm concerned that with only 100 lbs to lose, i'll lose 60% or 60lbs... in other words, people with 200 to lose may lose around 100....i had read that with the gbp and lb you'll only lose a per centage of your weight...know what i mean? thanks!!

Well the one girl who was at goal started out with a low BMI.. she was 230 when she started and got to 128. Only one of those two girls I mentioned was over 300 lbs with more to lose. And one of my friends on here in the Victorious Valentines group started out with a low BMI too and she's almost to goal with just like 20 more lbs or less to lose. I don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
