Just checking in...5 month update!

Recommended Posts

Saw Dr. Ren today, and found that I have lost 8 more pounds in the past four weeks. Restriction is good. and the weight loss is steady, so no fill this time (I believe I'm at 5.9 cc).

Can't believe I'm down 48 lbs!

Your doing great. I am so glad you shared your weight loss. I just had a fill and am at 6cc and hope to see that amount of weight loss. I love seeing stories like this.

Well...I have to admit that I often wonder if I'm losing fast enough, and am fearful that things will slow down to the point that I never make my goal.

I don't exercise (like, at all), and am not exactly conscientious about Protein (or snacking), so all things considered, I suppose I can't expect a faster pace of weight loss than that which I have been experiencing -- which seems to be the "right" pace, from what I've been told.

SueAZ, I was wondering -- when was your surgery?

Well you seem to be doing something right! A little exercise and weight training definetely couldn't hurt too. I've had a difficult time starting either as well. I have about a million excuses not to exercise!

Congrats, Cheryl Ann - keep up the good work! As others have said, if your weight loss slows down or you hit a plateau, start exercising!

You might want to start now so that the dreaded plateau never gets you...even walking for short periods will help you...

The most successful people I've seen on this site (weight loss wise and figure reshaping wise) are those who exercise. I've taken their activity to heart and I walk 5 - 7 days per week, plus put in 4 days in the gym...I'm determined!

I have a tendency to get keloids (raised, puffy scars) so I'm trying to avoid surgery of any kind - and plastic surgery, while it may be necessary, is definately a concern of mine! :tt2:

Cheryl Ann,

I was banded on May 23. Had one fill of 3.6, (7 weeks after surgery ) then second one of 2.4.( Another 7 weeks) I really feel the restriction now. I never had a problem with any food. Now bread is mostly a no no. I have to eat even slower and the amount is a lot smaller. I feel like I lose slower, but like you I don't exercise alot and I do have treat as long as he scale does down I 'm happy.

I got on the scale this morning...and am down another 2 lbs., for a total of 50! However, I like to wait a while before I make it "official" because I've found that whenever I have a sudden drop like that, it fluctuates up and down a couple of pounds until it finally settles down.

I really do need to get my sorry ass moving. I find every excuse in the world, but fact is, I'm a stay-at-home mom with two kids in school all day (and don't even clean my own house), so have all the time in the world. My problem is that I'm rather reclusive, and like being in my house a wee bit too much -- but obviously not while on a treadmill!

You're doing wonderful! If your weight slows down then you can kick it in gear with exercise  I am almost 5 months post op at -48 too

Your post made me smile! I was banded on 3/28/2008, only a week or so before you, had the same start weight and weigh the same now. I have the same experience as you, I drop a few pounds then the scale bounces up a down a little until it settles in. I do get into the gym 5 days a week and spend about 1hr 20 minutes but could do much better with my food. I would probably do better if I could manage to stay strict but I think I have some restriction issues. I have the Realize band and am at 9cc, which is the max it can hold. While I have good restriction, I can still overeat, probably because I am not making the best choices. Anyway, way to go and keep up the good work.

It's always fun to "meet" someone who shares the same stats! Kudos to you for going to the gym; I'm so darn lazy, that I'll drive to the corner mailbox, lol! Well, not really THAT lazy, but you get the picture.

I have the 10cc APS band, with filled with 5.9 cc. I am definitely restricted. I would imagine that at some point I will need another fill (and maybe more), but for now it's great!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
