Ad Normal EKG, I'm so scared :O(

Recommended Posts

OK, I went and Had my test done (EKG), my doctor comes in the room and sits down, looks at me and Say's Bobbie your EKG was adnormal, there might be something wrong with your heart, I'm sitting there thinking what the F**k!!!!!!!!!!!!! and so we need to make an appointment for another test at the hospital. I just started crying, I was floored, what the hell, so then he Say's if there is something wrong we will have to cancel the surgery, which I knew that one was coming. He said it might be a blockage, I'm not getting enough blood to my heart, WOW what a day, I'm so scared, I'm not ready for this. Please pray that everything is going to be fine. Love Bobbie:frown::smile2::frown::mellow::smile2::thumbup::tt2:

Believe it or not finding an abnormality with your heart now is a good thing. You're finding it out when you can do something about it rather than after a heart attack.

Prayers go out for you.

Bobbie, I'll pray for you too. Thank goodness these EKGs are done prior to surgery. You're the second person, this week, who has posted the their doctor uncovered a possible heart irregularity with their EKG.

I'm sorry you're having to go through this scary period - but it's true that, if anything is wrong, you have a chance to catch it before something serious happens.

I hope it is a false alarm and you're able to get your band soon. Or it is easily fixable and you can get your band soon enough.

I wish you all the best!

Susan

Bobbie:

Glad they found it by running tests, and not by some other way. Hopefully this will just be a little bump in the path to being banded. Take care of you and your heart and then battle the weight.

Best wishes to you.

Take care.

Sue

Hey there! I just wanted to let you know I was praying for you.. I also had an abnormal ekg and I failed my stress test prior to my lapband surgery. I ended up having a cardiac catheritization and praise the lord I was fine. I ended up just having spazaming capillaries. Less than 3 months later I had my lapband. Just keep positive and remember we are all here for you!

I also knew of someone that they caught a blockage while testing for LapBand.

It was the best thing for them and probably saved their life.

She was stented and had her LapBand 6 months later.

I was very nervous during my cardic.

I have a family history of heart attacks and thought I was a candiate also for one.

I had the full blown testing and to my surprise I was good, in fact great!! What a relief!!!

I would have been upset too if they found something but my desire to have LapBand was so great it got me to go get all the testing, if it wasn't for that I would have never gone and who knows something might have been wrong and it might have been too late.

Hang in there!

Bobbie,

I'm so sorry you are so scared, but like everyone has said, this really could be a blessing in disguise. I am hoping and praying it is something very fixable, and you will be able to have your surgery soon. Take care of yourself.

Julie

Don't panic till you find out what exactly it is. I just went thru this in April myself. It could be nothing.....as mine was. I had 2 abnormal EKG's, then a "false positive" Nuclear Stress test, then because of a family history w/ heart disease he said he couldn't clear me with out a Cardiac Cath procedure. It was a surgical outpatient procedure so of COURSE I was freakin out. Well all ended up clear, for whatever reason all the previous tests were false positives. So DON'T panic till you know exactly what's going on. I FREAKED out...and for nothing. All was clear, and I was banded last month! Best of luck to you! :tt2:

Hey Bobbie, I did the same thing I failed my stress test. I have a rapid heart rate and didn't get to take my meds that morning and I thought that is what made me fail but to find out after my heart catherization I have a 10% blockage. They won't do anything unless its 70% blocked. I had my lap band surgery August 21 and am doing fine. My cardiologist told me with weightloss and exercise that will take care of my blockage...It is always better to be safe than sorry...I hope everything goes well and I'm sure it will...Marie

Don't panic just yet! My primary care doc detected an abnormal EKG on me as well and sent me to a cardiologist. I went through the same emotions as you and scared out of my mind. My health was spiraling downhill as the weight came on and my bloods work was all crazy! After a year of my endo trying to convince me to have weight loss surgery, I had finally came to terms with this and then hearing that was just another roadblock for me. Sooo... I went to the cardiologist where they did a sonogram of my heart and learned that my heart was a bit on the weak side and slightly enlarged. He put me on blood pressure medicine and said that my heart should go back to normal as the weight comes off. The blood pressure meds are given to me to help ease the pressure of the heart working harder.

Sooooo, just relax and don't worry too much. I am hoping that this is the case for you. But like the others wrote: just be glad that they detected it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
