Insurance question

Recommended Posts

:paranoid

I have my first consult with Dr. Spivak this Thursday. Does anyone know how long it take generally, for insurance to make a decision if you are approved or not, after all the paperwork is submitted? I am still shooting (and praying) for June surgery date, but not sure if it is possible.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi Lu Ann,

I don't know about your state but here in NJ there is a requirement that insurance carriers deliver decisions within 30 days. In practice it's actually a lot faster. There's probably a similar time frame at work where you are. In my experience as an insurance broker, I've learned it's not the decision-making that takes time; it's delivering all the paperwork to the right people. Once that's done, I think you have a right to expect an answer within 10 business days and possibly a lot faster.

Good luck!! :)

I think that is a requirement in Texas too but my insurance keeps misplacing stuff. They have had it since April. When I called last week they said it had been misrouted. Is there anything you can do about incompetence?

Unfortunately, no, Judi, there is nothing to be done about incompetence. Just stay on them and make sure all your papers are received. That is really important, because weeks can go by and you'll call for a decision just to find out that one document got, as you say, misrouted. ARGH! I totally feel your pain.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
