I've been banded since feb 29.

I work out about 5-6 days a week at the gym

I went camping with my sister. she has a comfort bike.

I went today and bought one. I love it, I rode it home 45 min.

I'm hoping this will get my weight loss going again. it has slowed the last 2 months.

I'm loving my band.

I'm loving my gym

I'm loving my bike.

its hard work, but the lifesytle change has changed my life.

Hey Donnabarney

I've been banded since March 28, 2008. I have lost 50 lbs. I love my band. It saved my life. Off all meds. What is a comfort bike? Who's it made by? Thanks

its a bike with a large seat, and high handle bars, it even has a basket for shoping that snaps off. I love it. name of manufacter is "giant"

its light weight, and handles really good. I have not riden a bike for over 20 years and started with my sisters last week. today I went for 2 bike rides, the seat and handle bars are really easy on the back and knees.

You have done great with your band.

we are almost at the same weight loss. its hard work but worth it.

They are expensive bikes but look like they are comfortable to ride

I hear ya! I have lost 60 lbs and my airtravel experiences have been great. Fit in the seat, can put the tray down and walk easily between terminals! I go to the gym everyday and on the off day go bowling!

I love my band TOO!

Hi I just got banded last week, prior to that I bought a Schwinn adult tricycle. It's blue and I bought a more comfortable seat. It has a basket in the rear and I'm adding one to the front. Can't wait till I can ride it again. I stopped because of my left knee, I have arthritis in it and with the weight loss to come, I will be better. Right now getting over the shock of the "weight gain" after surgery LOL. Mostly bloating and air and liquid. It will go down soon. Just starting to feel decent.

I love the idea of the adult tricycle. I see Walmart online carries them. So I'm sure any walmart store could order one in. And a great price too!

I LOVE my band too. I was banded 6 wks ago. I have 5.5cc's in a 10cc band and at time of surgery I was 223.5 and today Iam at 204! LOVE it. Its work, don't get me wrong but its worth it. Its what I signed up for.

I love riding at dusk. My husband whose an avid bike rider put a light on my bike last night. He and I go out when its just getting dark and just ride all around our town. Its so cool. Peaceful, quiet. I love the sounds of night. He bought me a new bike in hopes I would ride with him. It worked.

WOW! You've done great! My trainer has always told me that you should change your exercise routine and do different things to confuse your body into weight loss. Your muscles get use to the same routine and it's not as effective. I think you're onto something with the bike. Best wishes.

Wonderful, I always loved to bike ride as a kid. I can't wait for them to give me permission to start back on it.

Yes the bike I got from Amazon is the same as the one at Wal-Mart. I got it at Amazon because I didn't have to pay for the shipping, and I got a helmet with it. I did change the seat with one I got at Wal-Mart, a much more comfortable one. I have to get a light, and a basket for the front of the bike.

It's not too hard to put together either.

I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH MY BAND TOO!

I am 8 weeks out and feeling great. I use to cycle a lot but gave it a rest for a while. I will return to it in a month or so. I exercise 2 days and rest one, then do light weight training. I do not know what size my band isand I have not had a fill yet. I am doing ok with eating and don't feel that I need one. I am glad everyone is doing well and off to a great start.

We've come to far to turn back now, so full speed ahead!!!!

Wow thanks for the encouragment, I am not in love with my band yet...still feeling punky after a week, the bloating and headaches and sore. Getting better every day. Getting lots of rest and taking short walks. As long as I don't feel worse I am happy.

I am 9 weeks out of surgery I have lost 55lbs in 9weeks. My surgery was on June 9, 2008. I was doing really well on my first visit back to the doctor with a weight loss of 23lbs. I did'nt feel like I needed a fill, but he wanted me to have at least one, so on July 8th I had my first fill. I eat about every three hours and I don"t feel hungry at all. I am so pleased with my band I tell everyone about it. I have a long way to go yet but I know I will make it to my goal weight. I just went back to the doctor on August 8th and he said I was doing so well I did'nt need to come back for 2 months.

That is so wonderful. I am so happy to hear this. I am 2 1/2 weeks away from having my surgery and I'm starting to get a little nervous. This helps alot. What is your exercise routine? Have you had trouble with vomiting your food back up? I don't mean to sound gross, but this is one thing that concerns me because I HATE vomiting. Thanks for sharing your good news and congrats! :)

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
