Looking for Bandsters in Dubai and Qatar
I was banded in Doha at Al Amadi Hospital. (Private) the Governement hosp. does less expensive but you have a difficult time with followup. I've had my band for 17 months and have 10 cc fill. Lost 66 lbs(30 kgs) but it is work. Stalled right now. Hang in there.

7 weeks in the states and I still lost
I am so happy!! I thought for sure traveling and eating out MOST of the time I would have not lost any or even gained some kgs back. Today I went for a fill and I had lost over 3kgs!! Yippee!! I'll be back on the forum now that I am home.:cool2:

In the USA
I've been in the USA for a month now heading back to the Middleast end of July. I have been remiss visiting the website due to ALL THE traveling I've been doing. I've been steady at the gym, but I'm afraid I fell off the cheese wagon again:). I'll see tomorrow if I have maintained or lost any more. Last weigh in was 106.9 kg.(June 14) fingers crossed!

WATER ... It's sposed to be good for ya!
I drink up( well not right up) to eating and wait 30 minutes after to drink anything. Hardest part for me was not having a glass of wine with a good dinner. But I figure once in a while won't hurt me especially if it's a special occassion. My weight loss is going well over all.

Back from 2 weeks holiday YIKES
Two weeks in Sweden and Denmark...fell off the cheese wagon, but I was careful and didn't over indulge. It was difficult eating when I am used to, small meals over the day. Got my protein with fish, and occassional egg and...cheese:drool: Go for another weigh in and hopefully a fill next week. I don't think I did too much damage..probably didn't lose but didn't gain either!!

I'm SO PISSED OFF!!!
It is illegal to tell anyone about any medical procedures without the permission of the patient.(IANAL) The Feds take this very seriously. You really should lodge a complaint to the office manager/doctor they want to protect themselves as well as you when it comes to a chatty employee.

Reading a lot of negative feedback, any regrets?
I'm losing steadily. But I work the band. Exercise and diet! The only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner. I'm impatient to be at my goal weight!:wink2:

-33 pounds, no dieting or walking
Hear hear! I have lost about 40 pounds and it has been work. I follow a diet of 1400 cals(+/-) a day and exercise EVERY DAY! I know the band is a tool and am using it.

Shoulder pain when eating
Yes, it happens to me if I eat too much at once. It's uncomfortable until the food passes through the band. Might take a few hours.
-
When were you banded and how much have you lost?
Banded Jan.15/08 lost about 41 lbs.
-
Sweating?
I've been sweating quite a bit. Sometime I think it's flashes:huh2: During my workouts I'm dripping. Maybe it is an increase in metabolism.

Calories...the 1st 6 weeks...How Many?
Jiminey Cricket! I was on liquids for 6 weeks!! For 5 weeks I was on a 1400 cals/day, still am but I am eating solids. Banded 1/16/2008
-
Do not starve yourselves!
I eat average about 1300 cals/day. I follow a balanced nutritionist planned diet. Sometimes I have difficulties eating enough! You eat when you are hungry and quit when you are satisfied! You NEED calories to lose weight. I recommend using a calorie count website for help.
-
Vegetarians...
No worries. There are plenty of other sources for protiens. Beans/lentels/soya. I'm doing some adjustments in my protien intake because I haven't eaten many eggs or much cheese in the 12 weeks since I was banded.

How full do they normally fill a 10cc band?
I had 2 cc 6 weeks out then 4cc more 4 weeks later. I felt no restriction either times. I go back in three weeks and the we will decide if I need more.
-
How strict were you on the NO LIFTING?
Everyone is different. I treated it like my gallbladder surgery and was exercising within the week(not hard) You do what you are able to do. Doesn't help does it?
-
Just had my 1st fill -- need advice from old timers
I had my first fill 2/26 felt no restriction. Ate solids I worry that there wasn't enough 'fill'. I go back in a month.

21lbs in 6 days....
As others have said in different threads, the time after the surgery is for healing, if you lose weight it is a bonus(looks like you have a huge bonus!). Don't worry.
-
freaking out!
I think it is normal (what is normal?) to feel freaked about any surgery. I felt like getting off the gurney on the way into the theater! I was afraid, but now that it is done, I am 98% glad I had it done. I'm 5 weeks out and have lost over 9Kgs (about 20 lbs.) But I'm on a liquid(balanced) diet.

Day 3 postop- am I drinking enough?
Every morning I drink 2 cups of water & then drink a cup of hot water with lemon juice and a tsp honey. This is per my dietitian. 45 minutes later I start with liquids ( I am alson on liquids for two more weeks) Because I live in the desert I have to make sure I drink enough. Drink small sips over time it's important!

surgery 2/11 Atenolol
I take it every day, including the day of the surgery. Are you saying the doc. wants you to take it a week before? Do you have hypertension?
-
My body, my band, my BETRAYAL
My doctor wants me on liquids only for 6 weeks. He hasn't 'said' lose more before I fill you, he just said he wants me to lose more and won't fill until after the 6 weeks anyway because I have to heal etc. Sorry for the confusion.
