  1. Hey can understand now losing the last 20 pounds slowly. I will do the same. I am happy with my loss for the year. Most people don't even recognize me now. And it's so much fun getting "normal sized" clothing. Congratulations to everyone on the one year anniversary we all did so well it's wonderful.
  2. Congratulations. I will most likely hit my goal next summer. I am taking it slow and steady till then concentrating on eating healthy and toning up the flab more.
  3. Hi, finally made it into the 140's. This past few months have been hard. Not losing as much, changing Insurance so that now we have $1000 deductible each. So waiting a month or so for another fill. Still have good restriction. Watching what I eat also. But occasionally eating some good stuff...like lobster. I think now just a pound at a time is good. I fit into size 11/10 stuff now so I am happy. Toning up a bit more with the slow loss. I will be happy if I hit 130 by next summer. I am just going one day at a time now. Eating healthy. I hope everyone is doing well. I will check in here more often now that summer is almost over. take care all Pati
  4. Been a crazy busy summer and haven't been here much. Not lost a lot of weight but 20 pounds from goal. Today my 1 year anniversary and I am feeling great. I am just taking it one day at a time. Must call for another fill soon. Having good restriction but want a bit better. Got to get the last 20 lbs. off by next March. Another grandbaby is one the way. We are very happy. Miss C is growing like a weed and I am having so much fun taking care of her. I hope all you August 2008 bandsters are doing well. This year flew by. take care Pati
  5. Just make sure not to drink through a straw that is one big no no for banded people. I would stay away from potato or cheddar soup because of the calories.
  6. Try to stay as liquid as you can, Water down the food till it's petty liquid(y) use a blender. Gradually over time let the food get mushier. I was on mostly liquid for 4 weeks before the mushier stuff. Cambless "Sip a Soup" tomato is good too
  7. It's only been a few days, I had nausea problems and had meds. One thing I liked about where I had my surgery is they keep you overnight and give anti-nausea meds intravenously. I think that helped a great deal. I ended up allergic to soy Protein drinks gave me the "trots" and upset my tummy. I am fine now. I just don't particularly like soy products. Clear beef and chicken broth, warm not too hot are soothing and green tea is good also. It goes away in a week or so after surgery. So don't worry you will feel so much better in a week or two.
  8. I may readjust my July 4th goal...but I will try to be in the high 140's I had a few weeks with no loss at all and now I am losing again. My last fill seems to be real close to the sweet spot. One more fill might do it. Have to call for an appointment in July for it. Got into some very skinny purple jeans I got at Christmas. Very happy they are a size 13 but smaller than my size 11-12 jeans. Very skinny legs on them, I couldn't even get them up a month ago past my knees LOL now they fit (tight) and I can button them up and even sit in them....have to take a pic this week. Everyone is doing great, I say slow and steady now wins the race. As long as your losing your a winner right......
  9. Hey this is sort of new. Had my surgery done at Lahey by Dr. Brams last August and he's terrific. Great job. I am looking good......a success story so far. Great support at Lahey
  10. Well my plateau the past few weeks has been broken, last week about 2 lbs. this week a pound. Slow and steady. Got into some very very skinny jeans today, I was so happy. They are purple LOL Got them for my Red Hat stuff. Hope everyone is doing good.
  11. I am still around 30 lbs. from my goal but I am feeling great. Love the before and after pics. I will need a tummy tuck but have to save for it. Congratulations to everyone....:wink2::smile2:
  12. I didn't lose last week but today I weighted myself and down 2 lbs. and a few oz. So I feel good. I even ate Ice Cream cake last Friday LOL for hubby's B'Day. But just a little. Slow and steady I am happy just to lose a few pounds a month now. I feel great look great and hope to look better every day.
  13. Oh how awful, were you alone with that pervert when he did your internal? How scary is that. Since the 1970's at least all my doctors have a nurse with them when doing exams. It's the law I think in MA. I am glad you reported that jerk. How sick is that. Great your going back to school good luck. That nurse needs a letter put in her file so she can be warned not to treat patients so horrid.
  14. It's odd that the people who put you down for doing it are people who are also overweight or obese. I think they are jealous you had it done and they haven't or are afraid to do it or maybe they were turned down by their insurance company and they are pissed off. I tell everyone, 99% think it's great. 1% don't so I just tell them don't knock it till you try it. They shut up especially now that I am just overweight and not obese and can wear regular clothing. Size 12 jeans. I went in Victoria Secrets and tried on their new fancy 7-1 bra, it's maybe half a size too small. So in 10 pounds or so I will got get one. Perfect for the summer. Can wear it 7 ways. including strapless. It's comfortable and although a tad expensive $50 it's worth it. I am happy that most people want to know more about the surgery. I find teenagers, in stores that work there are really really interested. Especially the overweight ones. I tell them it's the best thing this old lady has ever done for herself. I hope I have converted a few of them over to the "band side" LOL I would have reported that nurse and told her off....how dare she act like that. Totally unprofessional. Oh how green was she?????? LOL
  15. Hey I love when that happens, unexpected weight loss....Congratulations.
  16. Great job everyone I am the same. But then I didn't gain either. I am losing slower than I want too. But then again no gain LOL My clothing is getting looser anyway so that's good. My size 12 jeans are getting loose in the leg and waist. Woo woo.
  17. I had a serious Diet Coke habit. I stopped the day before surgery and haven't had a drop since. I drink one large cup of coffee every morning. And sometimes a decaf low fat mocha coffee in the evening. It took about 3 weeks for the headaches to subside. Lots of tylenon for that I am now slightly addicted to Crystal light lemonade I do love it. And the pink kind for celebrations. I sometimes mix different ones like half fruit punch and half lemonade. Just to make it different. I don't miss beer at all, I do miss mixed drinks, so I have a virgin mary with all the spices when I am out and love that. Get some Vitamins from the veggie drink too. Good luck. Pati
  18. BillOh I have a small frame. In my 20's and early 30's I weighted between 110 and 125. I looked good at around 130 as I got older. I gained my weight in my 40's and 50's will combo of overeating, thyroid going on the fritz and menopause. A deadly combination to keep weight off. I am 158 and feel great but I want the 28 lbs off. I will then give my self a 5-10 lb. leeway around that number. But with my 6th fill I truly now have my sweet spot. If I lose that sweet spot, I can get it back with a 7th fill. As the weight goes off the band gets loose that's why I wanted the band. So that it's adjustable. Most of the people I have known that had bypass, have not done well with it. they have problems with their bowels, keeping their nutrients up and then they sometimes slowly over time stretch out the pouch. And gain some or all or more of the weight they lost back. The band is slower, but I think much more user friendly. Good luck again. Pati
  19. Well it's been months since posted and the good news is I am totally off my "CRAP" machine. Back to sleeping normally, only occasional snoring not heavy just a bit when tired. Normal. As for my Type II diabetes. My AC1 test was 6.1 which was excellent, it had been around an 8 or 9 last year. I am down to one pill a day now. You can reverse or really keep this all under control with losing the weight. I can move and do things that I haven't done for years. Like plant a garden and landscape the front of my house with new plants and shrubs. I can walk long distances now without being out of breath and feel 10 years younger. Getting the band was the best thing I ever have done for my body.
  20. Congratulations great job
  21. I hit 158 this past Friday so I am in the 150's by Memorial Day By July 4th I would like to be in the 140's and by August 7th my anniversary in the 130's. My goal is 130 hope I can make that by the end of August. I think I have hit my sweet spot with the last fill. It's really restrictive.
  22. I was told to chew till it's very very mushy soft and very small bites. It takes time to get used to doing this but I savor the food much better and am satisfied much quicker. I still have a problem with some foods, if they are dry. I can't truly enjoy steak that much. But I have learned that I can chew it and then I spit it out. Just a few bites and I am satisfied. I get most of my Protein from chicken and cheese and I can do ground beef in small amounts. I also can eat tuna mixed with no fat mayo. It's a whole new way of eating. I also can eat salads and do so a lot with grilled white meat chicken or tuna and no calorie dressing.
  23. I am late also posting but I did weight myself on Friday...down one pound. I do have a lot of restriction from my last fill, it takes a week to show up it seems. So eating even less. I hope to get a few more pounds off....soon. Been slow going the last few months. As long as I am not gaining I am happy.
