Kicked in Lap band port area

Recommended Posts

Has anyone every been accidentally pushed, kicked, etc in their port area? I was swimming with my 2 year old nephew who resisted my help in the pool and as he struggled away -- I got a heck of a kick right where my port is. That was Friday evening.

Today, for the first time since I got banded 4-17-08 -- I threw up..it was gatorade but I feel uncomfortable.

I'm calling the surgeon tomorrow but was just curious about anyone else's experiences.

Thanks,

Dolores

I have three children who are under the age of 4 and I get kicked, hit, stepped on, etc constantly...

I'm sure you are fine, but you should certainly call your dr. to make sure!

Best of luck.

I am 6 days post-op and that is one of my biggest fears. I have a large dog (Boxer) who is a jumper and I am constantly protecting my stomach area when she is around me. Please let us know what your doctor says.

wow...i hope everything turns out ok... I play ruff with my 4yr old and he almost stepped in my stomach but i caught him and lifted him up really quick and reminded him that he can't do that because he will hurt mommy... but a 2-year old... he was just trying to get away.... ouch.... plz keep me posted....

If you were kicked in the port and, worst case scenario, it actually dislodged the port, I wouldn't think that can cause you to throw up. I don't think it would really affect the band around your stomach.

How does the area feel now? Is there any bruising? Does it feel like the band is moving around more than usual?

Your port is stitched on to your abdominal muscles and shouldn't budge around too much and isn't at all fragile. I'm sure that it hurt like heck, but I doubt that it did anything more than bruise you deeply. I hope your doc can ease your fears early in the day 'cause there's nothing worse than worrying. :confused2:

Sounds like you may be swollen which caused you to be too tight. I'd try liquids for a 2 days and then step back up to solid food.

Hope things go well with the doc. Let us know what he/she tells you.

My husband accidentally punched me in the stomach while shopping for clothes. He outstretched his arms, not realizing I was coming closer to see what he had picked out. WHAM. Right in the gut. I saw stars. It took my breath away. I was sore for a day or two, but nothing more. He was more upset than I was. I fell this past weekend. I flipped over a wheelbarrow. Not pretty. I fell pretty hard and am pretty bruised up. I didn't hit my stomach, but the straining of the muscles made my port area sore. I did have a tummy ache the next day. I couldn't eat much. It very well could have been a little swelling.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
