ps good luck everyone for tomorrow and hope everything goes well.

Hi all- I want to go on a a pre op diet even though my doctor didnt order me to have one but, i would still feel better trying to shrink my liver down. Any pre op liquid suggestions. I was thinking of doing like a Slim Fast diet. Also when are labs ordered and what are they for? Do you have to do labs the week prior or can it be the day of. It seems to me my doctor office told me it would be the day of.

I need help! My surgery is 6 days away and I came down with a cold. I've got to get rid of it so they don't send me away on surgery day...anyone have some good remedies?

Can you take Theraflu I wonder? How about drinking OJ, chicken soup, and taking a liquid vitamin/mineral? Maybe Vicks Vapor if your chest or nose is stuffy..but, not sure if that counts as medicine....

 I'm having my surgery on 08/08/08. I'm doing the Pre-Surgery Diet. Looking forward to a "New Me"! Those that are having there surgery in August -- Good Luck to US ALL! Looking forward to reading everyone progress and sharing my.

All of you being banded tomorrow....BEST OF LUCK.

I know the "calm" feeling. I am the same way. I think that we all work so long to get ready for this moment that we can't be truely nervous if we are truely READY!!:biggrin::biggrin: WOOHOO !! Sleep soundly!

My surgery is tomorrow. I am feel calm. it is very weird and I don't understand it. I am hoping to keep this feeling up until they wheel me in. I have packed my bags with books, Ipod, comfortable bra and my dreaded glasses. 8:15 AM can't get her soon enough.

Hi Everyone,

I am new here. I have my surgery on Tuesday August 5th. I am excited.

How does everyone make the little weight loss slider and set up thier pictures and avatars?

Thanks!

This is my preop diet!! I will be living off the chocolate shake and berry bar from the Optifast range. (I'm in Australia)

Brekkie...Optifast Choc shake or Berry bar

Mid morn Apple (or other permitted fruit (there are specific amounts you can have (not banana's))

lunch Optifast choc shake

Mid afternoon.....1 cup vegetables (from the list of ok veggies, IE Low card and green vegies) or a shake or berry bar

dinner Optifast shake and 1 cup vegetables from the list of ok veggies or have both cups of vegies in a Soup (made with stock)...

I can have as much diet Jello as I like (but I think I would stop the red before surgery due to reasons mentioned elsewhere)

I should drink 2L of Water and/or calorie free liquid and take a multi Vitamin

No carrots, legumes, potato, pumpkin, sweet potato, tomato sauce (Ketchup), mayonnaise, tartar sauce, fruit juice, alcohol or vegetable juice...

I could drink tea or coffee but I don't like it!! can have diet soft drink, diet cordial, atrificial sweeteners lollies or gum and all spices and herbs can be used also can have lemon juice, vinegar, worcestershire sauce, soy sauce (in moderation) chilli, mustard, tomato paste

My dietician said if I eat the foods on the don't eat list then it knocks the system out of whack and will make you feel hungrier!

Just need to get through those first 3-4 days

ACK!@!

It is hard because they recommend you stop a lot of medications prior to surgery...I suggest you try and get some rest....vitamin C.....steam with Vicks vaporub...Mostly you have to wait a cold out it being a Virus and all and the stuff you can take will only make you feel better anyway. The good thing is at least it is the weekend so I would suggest you spend it in bed resting@! Take care

That's so awesome!! My doctor doesn't require a pre-op diet of liquids or anything, so I'm just trying to work on not drinking with my meals (so hard!) and Chewing! Chewing! Chewing!! I'm actually going on a cruise 2 weeks before my surgery, so I'm kind of glad there is no pre-op diet...Ha! We can definitely support each other...I need all I can get!!

Good luck on your surgery today! I hope everything goes well. I am having mine august 13th.

I am so excited, 6 days till my surgery. August 7th. A new month and a new life. I got the 12 lbs. off and more right now 13.3. No real pre-op diet but I am doing my own and the doctor approved it. Saying the more off now the better for the surgery. I sent for the unjury shakes and they are very good. Not expensive really considering how much some are. I got the chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, and "chicken" LOL

I have two shakes and a small meal and snack. I hope to lose at least another 2 lbs. by next Thrusday.

Hope all you August 1st. (today) people are doing well with their surgery.

Now one of my dearest friends is going to have it too. She just started the preliminary stages with her hospital She said I am her "role model" so hey guess I have to succeed LOL . We have known each other since being roommates 38 years ago. At that time I was skinny 110 lbs. and could eat anything, sigh those were the days LOL.
