  1. Hi guys, I haven't been on in a week or so, work is slammin' busy. (I'm a nurse in a NICU) But so far things are great. I was banded on the 4th, been back for one follow up and have my second follow up and first fill next week. I am just starting regular foods and doing okay although I have a terrible fear of not chewing well enough!!! LOL. I have limited myself to 1/2 cup of food at each meal and am doing well with it. Only problem being that I am hungry like 2 1/2 hours later. Oh well, I do not let myself eat until my next scheduled meal. Great news is that I am down 25 lbs from the date of my surgery. It's awesome!!:biggrin:
  2. My surgeon actually fills when he places the band. Then my first office fill will be 4 weeks post op. I am a little over two weeks post op and doing well with the diet. I think placing the band with a fill has helped me to not be starving! I can now eat "pureed" including soft scrambled eggs and moist chicken salad... Chicken salad has never been sooooo yummy. I am satisfied with about a 1/4 cup and have yet to be able to finish 1/2. If I eat the "liquids" (pudding/yogurt etc) I can eat about 3/4 of a cup. I am getting hungrier sooner right now. Lasting about 4 hours before I am really hungry. But I do still have to drink 2 protein shakes a day so that inbetween helps. Good luck and best wishes to all of you!
  3. Peaches, I was banded on the 4th and would be happy to be your band buddy. Drop me an e-mail at premiern@twcny.rr.com. I have had a great course so far... down 17 lbs since surgery. Still on Full liquid diet but I get to add some soft stuff on Monday. That will be quite interesting. I'm feeling great and starting a new couch to 5K program on Tuesday. My goal is to run my first 5K before the snow flies..(I live in one of the snowiest spots in the country) It's a lofty goal but I know I can do it! I decided on the band as a 33 year old diabetic. So far, I have not been back on any meds and my blood sugars are right where they belong...I am amazed.
  4. I was banded on the 4th and so far am doing awesome! I had my first post-op appt yesterday and it was well, the surgeon is letting me go back to work on Monday. Good thing as I tend to go a little crazy sitting around doing nothing! I'm down approx 15 lbs from leaving the hospital and was cleared for light exercise this week and anything I want next week. So last night I was off and walking! Did 30 minutes of Cardio walking... (my poor bassett hound was with me) and will do the same today. Next week I'm starting the couch to 5 k and hope to run my first 5K this fall!!! I can't believe how excited I am!!!
  5. Vegas.. I didn't have to do the "bowel prep"... thank goodness. BUT, (no pun intended) as a nurse, I have seen many people have it.. My recommendation... if you are able to take the day off... DO IT! Being near the potty might not be enough!:wink2::cool2:
  6. Shamrockgirl, I am laughing hysterically at your "poopy post"....Nobody mentioned the "weird diarrhea" to me either!!:wink2::cool2::w00t::blushing:I was banded on the 4th!
  7. Michee Thank you so much for your kind words! I was banded last Monday and am looking forward to my lips hurting from the smiles!!! It's nice to hear a great success at one year!!!! I'm looking forward to making the same kind of post on my one year anniversary!!:thumbup::thumbup:

I'm one of the Banded now!!

Hi Everyone. Banding on Monday went really well. "Smooth as silk" as the surgeon says. (He's not the one with the gas pain) LOL...I'm really feeling pretty good besides some major soreness on my right side.
  12. All of you being banded tomorrow....BEST OF LUCK. I know the "calm" feeling. I am the same way. I think that we all work so long to get ready for this moment that we can't be truely nervous if we are truely READY!!:biggrin::biggrin: WOOHOO !! Sleep soundly!
  13. I know how you feel. I, too, worried about the judgements and looks I will face. Being a nurse has made it difficult to keep quiet. I finally decided that I am not doing this for anyone but me. I finally decided that the looks and judgement don't matter to me. You'll talk to your family when you are ready and if you don't want to discuss it during your vacation, DON'T.
  14. I'm getting my band on August 4th....Starting to get a little nervous, but more excited... Good luck everyone!!
