Stupid friends part deux

Recommended Posts

UGH I got into it with a friend of mine yesterday. She was going on and on about how she just knew the lap band wouldn't work because I have "only" lost so much weight since I had the surgery. I was trying SO hard to be patient with her and explain that before any adjustments any weight loss is a bonus, and a month or so out from surgery is for healing NOT weight loss. She was going on and on about how I 'destroyed' my body and it wasn't even working etc etc etc.

After about 15 minutes of listening to her blather on and on about it I finally lost it and just let her have it. I told her that the first month is healing, not weight loss and ANY weight loss is a bonus, and that I did NOT have gastric bypass I had the lap band. It is a different system and it takes longer with out "immediate" results. I finally really blew up on her and told her that next time she calls me she had better be sunshine and roses or she wasn't to ever contact me again.

When I slammed the phone down the twit was crying. I have no NO patients for idiots lately.

Just out of curiosity---does the friend have a weight problem as well??? I totally believe the answer to that question is relative to why she acted that way.

I mean if she is a thin person, she may enjoy being the thin friend.....orbe mouthing off out of ignorance of the band.

If she is heavy----it may be jealousy that you are doing something about it that she isn't.

Tearing others down is some peoples way of building themselves up....it just doesn't work that way though!

Sorry someone you are close to with the power to hurt you did so.

Yeah, I've had several obese friends get mad at me for going this route to lose weight.

I definetly think there is a jealousy that is making them act this way.

She is relatively skinny. She thinks she is fat, but she isn't (I mean c'mon a size 4 is NOT fat). She is just about as dumb as a box of rocks and isn't happy unless everyone around her is miserable.

I am pretty much done with her, I have been trying to cut ties to her for some time but as our husbands work together it makes it difficult. But now, I don't think it will be so difficult, this was the proverbial straw if you know what I mean.

I have come to realize that some people are just toxic. Iam glad you stuck up for yourself and I am sorry she made you feel bad. 20 pounds in two months is outstanding, by the way, a complete success. You should be very proud of yourself.

I understand completely. I hope things get easier:smile:

She is at it again, went to pick up some things from her that she had borrowed, and she was asking me about the surgery again, how much I had lost etc. Nothing major seemed like normal curiosity stuff.

Then a whole bunch of stupid ran out of her mouth. She almost got decked, I really wanted too but sadly her 2yo was right there so I couldn't do it.

Her stupidity was

"so when am I gonna be able to tell you have actually lost weight" ... And she said it snotty and rude as fuck. All I did was stand up, gave her that you open your mouth one more time and you will regret it look, and said goodbye.

I mean FFS how rude can a person be???? That was just beyond appropriate, I told the hubby that after I get the rest of my things back I am done with her, period and if it makes waves at work then I am sorry but I can not deal with her shit anymore.

She sounds like she is either mean or dumb but I suspect she is dumb. You don't need a dumb girlfriend - they are boring and life is too short - so dump her. I would.

"Never attribute to malice that which can adequately be explained by stupidity."

--Oscar Wilde

One of my favorite quotes that allows me to feel superior rather than hurt by people who say stupid hurtful things. Life is just too short to allow that crap to damage us.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
