PJ great to see you post! Enjoyed chatting with you on Facebook.

Laura, the Paris trip sounds wonderful. You'll have to give me details. I have DH just about talked into a 'weekend' in Paris. We are using one of our free positive space tickets to go over on a Friday, spend Sat and probably come home on Sunday. On my list to do is to go up the Eifel Tower and see the Louvre if possible. I have no idea how far the airport is from the city and if the tower and Louvre are close together, etc. He has no desire to see Paris so this is big for him to concede to my idea of a weekend there. LOL Since we spent so much money on other vacations this year, I can't talk him into longer, plus he doesn't have much vacation time, but maybe he'll love it and we can go back! We were talking of going Aug. 7th but may back it up to Sept.

Apples is gone for several more days yet. Miss her!

Arlene, way to go on the walking!

Cheri, sure Vegas is a foreign country you have Paris, Venice, Egypt (Luxor) and New York you have it all in one place! LOL

Evening ladies.......this is the first chance I've had to get on the computer since coming home from Bismarck... I had to have my nap and then supper and such....I actually got my records from the one clinic in my hand and took them personally to my doctors office... Now just two littel CD's for DH to drop off when he goes to the dentist tomorrow.... Then the referral can be done with all the records they require to set up an appointment.. I can hardly wait.... I'm so tired of being groggy and tired in the mornings from all the medication... I woke up with pain at 1:00 and then was up until 4:00 ish before returning to sleep..... Don't know how much longer I can keep up this schedule... Good thing I don't work out of the home....!!!!

Pam, good to hear from you.... glad you are feeling better and love your idea of starting to walk again.. I have a walk away the pounds tape that I need to start again... It's about all I can do, but have not been doing it.... just lazy and feeling sorry for myself I think...

Janet and Phyll, glad you had such a good time and are back home again... Peaches thanks for the update... would have loved to see that airport scene...

Lori, sounds like you are making yourself at home... this is good.... I'm happy for you.... Of course you found those good sales, too...

Laura, exciting news about Paris.... I've been to Europe twice and have really seen nothing but the army base as we went for a wedding and them again to meet our new grandson... Didn't have time for site seeing.. Maybe one day.....

Laura K, glad you are home safe and sound....What's the status on DD's things??

Eva, I get tired just reading about all you do outside... Your idea with the wash Water is neat....Reminds me of when my mother only had a wringer washer..... and how we used the water over and over.... whites first, jean last....

Judy, have you started rehearsals yet...??? How's that golf cart doing????

Melissa, I hope you are feeling better....we're all pulling for you to conquer this problem so you are happier with the job...

Joyce, what a nice grandmother you are... I'm sure DGD and her customers appreciate you much...

Cheri, it's a bummer that you will be working most of the summer, but you sound happy these days, so I'm hoping it will go fast and you'll find some time to play too...

Jessica, Jodi, Deb...... Are you all vacationing???? I know Apples is...... Will be happy to hear from you when you get back on...

Arlene, I get tired of fireworks in a hurry and our next door neighbors have been at it for a week... I think their grandkids finally left so tonight seems much more quiet...

Linda, love your 8 year plan.... I know it's not for me, but it's sounds so nice for you.....

I know there are a bunch of new people... Sorry I can't remember names, but welcome.... Be sure to jump in a let us get to know you... this is a great place to spend your time.... Lots of wonderful ladies for all over the country and with lots of different lifestyles... You're going to love it here....

Hope I didn't miss anyone.... Not on purpose.....

Well, my pills are kicking in and I'm tires... I did some wedding shopping today.... silverware, napkins, table coverings, decorating supplies... I've been collecting serving dishes for the buffet line, too..... Little things at the second hand store and such.... Lori, I can find a deal or two once in a while.... Making the flowers in one of my priorities now.... I should be able to handle that as it isn't strenuous....... Anyway, goodnight to all.... Hugs and prayers.... Julie

My 1st July 4th where I was freezing...

Love your pics. Sorry you had to freeze, but it looked like y'all had a lot of fun.

I am getting ready to go to my mother's. I made her chicken salad with grapes and pecans and chicken pot pie. Then I am off to weigh..ugh! Got on the scale this morning and I think I gained 2lbs. I just can't eat BBQ brisket and expect a loss.

Good luck today, Arlene.

Welcome back, Janet - loved the pix and looks like sooooo much fun for all.

Julie - very exciting that all records are now in place for Mayo's. You have been patient and time for healing to begin.

Lori - a weekend in Paris sounds very romantic and Laura - a vacation there is exciting too.

Meeting another bander today to share our journey. Need to get ready to go.

Morning everyone,

Janet, loved all the pics -- I can't wait until it's our turn in Vegas -- sorry it was so cold. You should have had some brandy to warm you up.

Julie, glad you finally have all your med records ready to go -- can't wait for you to go to mayo and find out how to get you all fixed up. My brother-in-law had a similar problem last year and he suffered and suffered and they finally found a bad disc in his neck that was causing the problem -- causing pain in his groin area -- that was wild - so you never know. It took about 10 months to figure it out and he had had all kinds of scans, x-rays, etc. and saw probably at least 8 different specialists during that time. Plus, he's a respiratory therapist and works at a hospital, so he has access to all the doctors and specialists. After he had neck surgery all the pain went away and and he's all fine now, but he had to miss out on lots of things last year - including my sister's 50th b-day celebration/vacation in Vegas. He had so much pain he couldn't do anything -- so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that they'll find a fixable problem and you'll be good as new again! Keeping positive thoughts!!

Laura, I'm so jealous -- I agree, if you can see Paris for the same price as Vermont, then by all means, go to Paris!!! What a great learning experience for Nelson. You didn't mention if you've been there before -- I know you've traveled quite a bit. I'd love to go to Italy and Croatia (my grandma was from Croatia) so someday. . . hopefully.

Apples was planning on spending this whole week at the lake and then she'll work next Monday so we won't hear from her until next Tues. probably.

Charlene, wtg on the walking -- I'm proud of you!! Hope you did lose a little - even if it's just a little, it's good -- I know how hard it is to see the same numbers on the scale week after week after week. I seldom read the horoscope in the newspaper but for some strange reason I wanted to read it yesterday -- obviously I was supposed to get the message because it read something like "if you stay on the path you will succeed, no matter how long it takes you as long as you don't step off the path you will eventually finish." As you know, I've been struggling with my plateau and I feel like I'm never ever going to get to the goal my surgeon set for me (I'm now 6 pounds away). But this situation forced me to look at it a little differently than I did before -- so now I realize there is no "end" -- this is my life now and I have to eat healthy and exercise to continue to enjoy this new life I've made for myself. So what's the hurry? There's really no hurry -- it's just "daily life". It's been a valuable lesson for me cause I'm one of those people who rush to get to the finish line and it caused me to really face the fact that this time there is no "finish line" really.

Hope that makes some sense.

Pam, so good to see you post -- you sound happier than last time -- hope you put some great music on that MP3 player -- get some oldies on there and groove to the music!!! Speaking of that, the Family Stone (used to be Sly and the Family Stone) are going to be doing a free concert at the Iowa St. Fair on Aug. 22. I will be there - I saw them at my h.s. my senior year -- that's the only place concerts were held back in "those days" lol -- I was in the second row -- it was fabulous! So if anyone wants to join me at the Fair, drive on over or fly right in and I'll put you up and drive you around. The Iowa St. fair is really terrific!!

Lori, I can't imagine flying all the way to Paris and spending so little time -- you are energetic - I'd be exhausted if I did that. I wouldn't even fly to Chicago for that length of time. But I suppose if I could go for free or cheap, I'd make it happen too. LOL.

Joyce, you are a fabulous GM and your GD is so lucky to have you - I'm sure she appreciates you. You remind me a lot of my neighbor across the street - she has great fun with her adult grandchildren. Hope you have a great lunch today and share any new information you get from the bander you are meeting.

Cheri, you do sound busy -- but as you said, being busy keeps you from eating which is good -- I know boredom can be the worst thing. Speaking of eating, I went to a party Sat. and had some food I don't normally eat -- some carbs -- and ever since I've been HUNGRY and craving more carbs -- I haven't given in to the cravings but it proved to me that eating carbs does make you want more carbs. It's been a struggle the last few days and I hope it ends soon - just another reason to stay away from carbs.

Had a long day yesterday worked 8 to 6 and then had a hair appt. after work -- didn't get home until 8:30 -- got my new perm and boy did I need it - it's been 4-1/2 months - I put it off until closer to my vacation and the wedding next week -- love it - it's so easy when the perm is new.

Well, I need to get back to work -- I type in between phone calls but it's getting busier.

LauraK -- how's your flowers? How's your DD doing since you left? Is she enjoying her new job? I hope so. Been thinking of her, hope she's doing well and meets lots of nice people.

Have a great day everyone and I'l cbl.

Linda

Linda,

My DD is doing ok. She sounds so much better since she started work yesterday. Found out that many of them live in the same apt complex. Still doing paper work kind of stuff yet.

Her belongings still have not arrived. The moving co is paying her $100 per day until it gets there. Have moved that date around but nothing confirmed.

I'm back to work and stupid me scheduled an audit for today. ugh

My 1st July 4th where I was freezing...

Janet, we're all dieing to know, "How cold was it?" Parkas! Blankets! Gloves! in July? Were you just all desert rats out of your element?

I'm expecting Vegas to still be hot Oct. 1. They wear white all year round? I have an all white outfit that I really like.

First day of teaching Interactive Metronome. Only kids who's going to be a problem is my grandson, David, the autistic 5 yr. old. I'm going to have to modify all the execises to only 30 seconds long. And have a dollar store reward for every exercise completed. I'll have to have him clapping on a different object of interest with every game. But he's worth it.

Cheri

Great - How long does it take to get to Paris - You have more energy than me - I am still pooped from my 4 day jaunt - and I didn't change anytime zones..

Linda- Sly has a reputation these days of not showing up or showing up really really late to his concerts.. I loved sly and the family stone !!!

Charlene - the meat didn't cause a 2 lb gain - what did you eat with it - how did the weigh in go..

Totally agree w/if you eat too many carbs you want more - I am weaning myself off them :0) - well really didn't eat that much - but had a little more sugar - cake on Thrusday (2 pieces) - Friday I don't remember any sweets - Saturday & Sunday a little fudge (2 or 3 thin slices) - Saturday had seafood Pasta - but that was my worse meal all weekend..

Didn't gain - and really didn't get any excercise - did have a couple of cocktails )

Janet,Yep, I gained two lbs. Well, I ate meat all weekend long. Yes, on Sunday I ate a cupcake......there! you got it out of me! But I don't think that caused it either. I have been eating too much. In class today she said when we plateau and go up and down it is probably time for one of those breath tests. It will tell exactly how many calories I should be eating. I am going DOWN this week!!!! Even if I have to ride my bike for three days. Another tropical system is moving in and three more days of rain. ugh!

Linda thanks for the pep talk. It is definitely a lifestyle, and if you don't think so just try eating too much......lesson learned, but probably not the last time.

Good afternoon, Lovelies! The heat is back on here after our cool 4th.

Arlene, is there any prep work you have to do before that breath metabolism rate test? I notice that the surgeon I am seeing here tomorrow offers that test, I might just ask for it. do you have to fast or anything? Is it expensive? I'd love to know.

I just had lunch with a friend and the waitress was so concerned with my portion size, I ordered from the kids meal. she kept wanting to bring me more food and then was so worried when I left even part of that on my plate. She wasn't mean about it, just really kind of funny. My way of eating has become normal to me that it seemed weird for someone to wonder.

Not much else new around here. I am very tired today, I couldn't sleep last night and was playing computer games to about 2am then had to be up, dressed and out of the bathroom by 8 this morning as a drywaller was coming to fix a drywall issue in there. I am almost always up by then but today I could've slept. Maybe that means I will sleep good tonight.

Phyl, what games are you planing these days now that Challenge Suduko is no more? I've gotten hooked on Majongg Deluxe or something like that.

Great, I think I paid 125.00 I may have gotten a small discount. Dr. Davis thinks it is important to know your resting metabolism . That means I can only eat 1300 calories a day to maintain my weight and eat at least 200 calories less to lose. Also, exercise is key.

I think I had to fast for four hours before the test. The test last about 10-15 minutes. I think it is a valuable tool.

I've taken that test @ my gym. The headgear for it was $65, but it is yours and can be used again to reduce the cost of the test.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
