Kelly...I have made consignment shopping one of my hobbies since being banded. I am sure if you do it also, you are aware of some of the exclusive brands a person can find sometimes for little money. I stopped into our little one in town while I was there yesterday and found a brand new Gallery black quilted winter jacket. It is really exactly the style I like to wear with jeans. I also found a a royal blue plaid Jones NY wool jacket. My favorite color. I love the "thrill of the hunt" and don't mind taking the time to search and go through many items to find a good deal.

Hopefully, you will get a better restriction with your next fill. How much can/do you eat at a meal...a cup????

I would say I eat a cup at each meal, and with dinner I always have a salad with my dinner.< /span>

Hi gang! Yesterday, I thought there were only a couple of us on the thread.........I get on.......and I see three pages of posts. Wow!

Apples, Happy Anniversary! I sew or shop to keep from eating. Sewing costs less and I stay at home. Shopping is costly if I want to divert myself from food.

Kelly, glad your stew turned out well. I don't do boots. My calves are huge!

Chris, sounds like you are healing well. Yep, you have to do that one no no to remind you there is a band. As for me, I can eat too much food right now. I will be going tomorrow for a fill.

Eva, Thanks! My babygirl is napping in my bed right now before going to get Sydney from nursery school. I am keeping the girls this evening so her and SIL can go Celebrate her birthday.

Janet, props to you for keeping us all in line. We need a food cop!

lauraK.....how is the friendship going with the new guy?

Laura......how is your tummy feeling?

Phyl, you feeling better now?

Going to walk this afternoon then Water aerobics before my fill tomorrow. Maybe I will drop a lb. I have a 3pm appointment.

Kelly - IMHO I think your restriction is perfect and you are losing 2 lbs a week which is very very good

Why do you want to be any tighter?? You have to eat to live - You have to be full mentally as well as physically and getting so tight that you can only eat 1/2 cup per meal - well that's a bit tight imho... And a good way to slip into eating slider

I read somewhere that someone here stayed that tight for a long time and now sorta regrets it and I think then the band does the work and you don't necessarily learn to eat healthy - make good choices - cuz that tight you may start eating more sliders and then the whole reflux & heartburn issues can beging. but again this is just my opinion -

My doc's basis for giving fills - if you are losing - no fill - the point is if you are losing 2 lbs a week - you are losing weight at a healthy rate my doc wouldnt' give you fill..

I was hungry an hr ago - but that's normal to be hungry before lunch - I don't care how tight you are you are still going to get hungry -

Indiogirl,

Thanks for your advice, I have thought about the restriction I have. I suppose you are right, that if I'm loosing I shouldn't get a fill, but like I explained in an earlier post, before any fills, I was like the caged lion. Now with two very small fills I feel like a bobcat, I'd like to get to the cat size with my appetite. So I am not couting how long to the next meal. I'm just a little tired of haveing food on the brain 24-7 (well, not when I sleep:wink:). After I eat and I am satiated, I have peace in my brain for a little while....that part feels really good:rolleyes:.

I will still think about what you have said, and won't just poo-poo it:biggrin:!

Kelly lol - Cheri has a saying - take what you want and leave the rest.. I know that when we all got 1st banded we thought it was all about fills

I will tell you from past experience being too tight is the pits - I would rather be loose than tight -

I'm still a bobcat most days - somedays (at home at night or weekend) a caged lion... That's mostly head hunger and the band isn't going to darn thing for that..

The only time I am not on the proul for food is when I am doing something - cleaning - shopping etc .. I can go all day and not it - it was the same for me pre-band - boredom is my BIGGEST enemy ;0)

It's cold this morning 43 degrees - so I guess today will be boot day and the new dress I got on Phyl's & mine shopping trip ;0)

Have a great day - Plan well - get out and move if you can - be thankful that you can move - Walk if you can - go to the gym if you can - and do something nice for someone today - Smile at a stranger - say hello - good morning - you never know what kind of day that other person is having - you just might make there day..Hugs & Love to all - Janet

Love your last paragraph, especially!

Good thoughts for the day!!

That dress looks really nice on you. You'll have to have someone take a photo of you wearing that... with your boots, etc.!

Good Morning Everyone! Another nice day but expecting rain later. My guys are panicking cuz they have at least another month of work they want to get done if not more. Hoping it is just a sprinkle and does not slow them down for too long.

Phyll....I know the feeling you speak of. DH and I do not have a lot of time together from March thru the first of December and then December thru March it's 24/7. I set up a lot of GF things during that down time. coffee or lunch in town, a shopping day (even if it's 20 below zero just to get out of here). Love my DH dearly but worry if one of us doesn't make plans to do something, one of us wouldn't make it. LOL. Been married 31 yrs as of today and we actually mesh pretty good together but if he sits his A$$ down at my computer when he has one of his own up and going at the time, that's when I lose it.

Haven't done a topic or a tip for the day for awhile. Let's see.....something that will give some LB insight to our newbies....

OK...with the winter months upon us and there will be more hours of boredom and boredom leads to temptation, name the thing that helped you the most to pull yourself away from the kitchen, the food that's tempting you that you KNOW you shouldn't eat but it's calling your name.

I'll start....I would either go brush my teeth, chew some gum and if that didn't work, I would grab a SF Jello and put a dab of FF Cool Whip on it. I found that to take care of craving for quite awhile. Better get after it...will junk up the thread later.

36_23_12.gif 36_3_28.gifHAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!

Lobster dinner sounds like a wonderful evening!

Hope your rain doesn't last long! ood luck with that!

Yep... have to plan "ME" time! And... I can relate to what you said a couple of days ago about needing to get away from the farm every few days. I Need to get out of the RV park every few days. If for nothing else than a latte!! LOL! Starbucks!! But, yes, a big part of that is getting away from DH for a little while, bless his pea-pickin' heart! Janet is right....

too much togetherness is NOT a good thing!

:thumbup::scared2::(

My winter situation is a little different because there really is a lot to do here in the park. But... my distractions from eating are things like going for a ride on my scooter (handicap scooter), especially now that I have the dog because she LOVES that. And then I usually walk her at least once a day. Not today because hip is bothering me. Leg just went numb just standing long enough to make some seafood Soup. And then I have my beading... I just spent an hour or so sorting through my beading toolbox and seeing what projects I have to finish and sorting beads by color and planning new projects in my head! Then there is playing with my puppy.. throwing her toys down the hall over and over until she gets tired of bringing them back. Now DH is teaching her how to pick them up and put them back in her big bowl of toys. She's much better at taking them out than she is at putting them back!! Working on it! And, last but not least, I play computer games! They are addictive!!

Apples,

I would go outside and walk around, get a drink of Water.

Happy Anniversary. Wow 31 years amazing.

Chris, good job on having the talk with your wife about cleaning out the house of junk. I really try not to have crap in my house that triggers me, my DS has his stuff.

Janet, the Scottish eggs were really easy to make and they were very good.

Linda, glad to see you post, I do see you on FB sometimes. We miss you and take care of yourself, don't work to hard.

Phyl, good job shopping with Janet. Yeah I think I would have to find things to do if I was in a MH with my DH or anyone for all those months. lol LauraK

I may have missed something... just wondering if you've had another date with that last guy yet??

A walk back in time.........

I always get the wedding album out and put it on the table so when eating our anniversary dinner we can say "Oh yeah, I remember when I had hair" and "Oh yeah, I remember when I did not have to deal with gravitiy".

While digging through the album, I came across a photo of me in my last year of college. Just threw that one in.

Attached photo....the end result:tt1:

LOVED THE PICTURES!!

Handsome couple, beatuiful boys!!

LMAO!!!!! Remember a couple of days ago Laura and I were complaining about all the food ads on LBT???? Well, I knew all I needed to do was go to my browser and block ads but I didn't.

There has not been ONE food ad since but now all I get is ads with photos of really cute BOOTS. I have a real boot weakness and these ads are way more enticing than any of the food ads. I am heading to my browser right now.

Hmmmm..... I don't even know if I get food ads because I pretty much ignore those ads on the right margin! LOL

Phyl, sorry I confused Zoey's name with Chloe....brain fart. Yep, it's getting cool finally. Glad the retail therapy has helped a little. A weekly excursion is very helpful. You do need a little time to yourself or with girl friends. I don't know what I'm going to do when DH is home all day every day. Hopefully, that won't happen for a while.

Well I got my office most done. I still need to go through some more drawers and need to reorganize my stamps, but for the most part, everything is cleaned and put away. I like the new arrangement a lot better and I have my "U" shaped desk arrangement again. I've already started making cards again. Need to get started on Christmas ones if I want to get them done in time. They'll probably be pretty simple ones, but they'll be handmade again.

Today I have to go to the library and to visit a friend. That is my main goal. Still don't have any work so I'm going to enjoy the free time.

I'm old... I already forgot that you called Zoey Chloe!! LOL

I love getting my stuff organized! Unfortunately, I'm not often motivated to do so, and it never stays that way for long! My beading box will pretty much stay organized, though. It has to stay that way or else it doesn't all fit!

I love making cards. I think I told you we do that once a month at "Primetimers" when we're home. I'm always surprised at how few of the ladies participate when we do it, and only an occasional man. But I always make as many as I have time to make.

Hi gang! Yesterday, I thought there were only a couple of us on the thread.........I get on.......and I see three pages of posts. Wow!

Kelly, glad your stew turned out well. I don't do boots. My calves are huge!

Janet, props to you for keeping us all in line. We need a food cop!

Phyl, you feeling better now?

Going to walk this afternoon then Water aerobics before my fill tomorrow. Maybe I will drop a lb. I have a 3pm appointment.

Yes, this group stays pretty busy here on LBT!!

I don't do boot either. I can't wear the heels anymore, and my calfs are too big, too.

Yes, we appreciate Janet, don't we!

I'm feeling much better today. Thanks for asking. Having a little hip pain today and yesterday. But able to do water aerobics just fine. Couldn't get too far walking the dog yesterday, though. May try again this evening, but the wind has just kicked up to fierce level!! Neither of us likes walking in the wind!

Hi all,

Man, I'm off the thread for two days and it takes me two hours to catch up. Hardly anybody posts weekends which is when I'm on there.

No way I can respond to everyone but I do remember that its Apples anniversary. Happy anniversay, Apples. Also Linda's back. Yay! Laura got GERD but is doing better. Yay! New person posting a lot, nice big letters. Welcome. Tex got whipped with a wet noodle, LOL. Char eating lots of oatmeal--remember its carbs, Char. Eva tackling one project after another--next one, food. Yay! Lori-50 states done-Europe next. Yay! LauraK popping in here and there. Jodi's weekly epistle. Janet's advice and good wholesome food choices. Yay!

So, inulin and chickory root are definitely the major culprits in my flatulence issues. Digestive enzymes have restored my system otherwise. Lots of kids out with stomach issues this week. One of my students also had an infected arm his mom sent him to school with. We sent him back. Looked like cellulitis and now he's in the hospital.

Food a little whacked. Barely ate for several days and now trying not to boomerang. I'm really hungry. Went from too tight a few weeks ago to can eat a pig now.

Cheri

Eva, Okay! Now I get the Chloe thing now! Got your beautiful card today! Thank you so much... and for the magnet. Did you do the drawing on the front of the card?? Very pretty!

Earl is so pathetic!! He wanted some puppy kisses and Zoey wouldn't come over to him so he did the fake cry thing again!! It worked! She has a tender heart. She hears a baby crying when we're out shopping and she starts looking very anxious... like she needs to go fix it!

Eva,

I wondered how the tortises were doing. I haven't heard you mention them in a while.

How great you can plant veggies now. We are getting very cold and the snow will start soon. yuk

Yes this lady that made them is mexican, and she is a great cook.

Apples and Kelly, I love resale shops. That's my hunting season. I can hunt for hours.

Laurak

The tortoises are fine. I brought the hatchlings in last night because it got down to the 40's. Only have two this year, thank goodness. One of them keeps falling on it's back and I've had to rescue him (flip it over). They usually can get themselves back the right way, but if they can't, they die. The two year old tortoise, Egg, is pretty much hibernating, the mom, Delila only comes out if it's around 70 degrees, but dad, Samson, was out today for a while. He comes out and suns himself then goes back to sleep. None of them are eating very much right now so they are ready for a little hibernation.

Visited my friend today and did not get to the library. I'll have to go in the morning.

Cheri, haven't see you in a couple of days. School really busy?

Phil, sorry the hip is bothering you...suspect the weather because mine is twinging too. I never did believe that until things started bothering me right before the weather changed. Weird.

Good Evening Gang

Cheri - that's the way it goes - when you have time to post - no one's posting - but when you are busy everyone post - then by the time you read it all - you don't remember what you read from the 1st hr ;0) - I hear ya Sista !!!

A lady at work has cellulites (sp) but she keeps coming to work the doc told her she needs to get off her feet..

Glad the gas is gone.. Yep some days we are just starving..

Phyl - I wore the dress/boots today - think I looked cute in it - my gf Kaye just laughs at me with all my shopping - but I tell her how can I pass it up -it looked cute on - she said I had a cute butt in the dress ;0) - didn't take a pic - will next time - I'm in my p.j.s already..

Yep DH is a sweetie - he really is - but that much togetherness in such close quarter... Once a week do your own thing..

I organize stuff and it only stays that way for a minute ;0) I really really need to do my closets - they are a mess..

Well - my fur babies want to eat.. so will be back in a bit

There's Cheri...we must have been posting at the same time. All that gas was probably making you feel tight. Don't eat that pig...I know you have enough will power to avoid it. Yeah, those days you miss posting, everyone posts a lot and it's hard to catch up.

Phil, I stamped the cards and colored, and bleached, and used embossing powder, and glued, etc...but did not draw them. However, we did get a kit at the stamping convention that will allow us to make our own stamps. Which would be very cool if I actually do it. I could even make my own paper if I wanted, I have the stuff to do it.

What I like about stamping is I can make something, give it away and make something else. The people that get the cards can throw them away and it does NOT hurt my feelings. They are just cards and it allows me to make more.

Okay, back to card making.

Later

Eva

Cheri, yes, I need to watch the oatmeal. I just finished a bowl for supper. DH is in Louisiana and I don't want to cook. I am chillin watching the CMA's. I love country music. I don't listen to it in the car.....mainly listen to the Oldies...I am a 60's and 70's fan.

I'm glad you found the gas culprit. I bought Fiber Choice and they are inulin. I only have gas when I take them in the evening. I know those Protein Bars are my culprit. What's that stuff sorbitol?.....deadly!!!

Okay, back to chillin...........check with y'all in the morning.......Goodnight!

Well everyone,

I went for my second walk today! Yeah!! I was just sitting glued to the comp. and I thought "Hell I am falling asleep, so grabbed my cap and a leash and out the door I went. I did the whole loop, and that gave me a grand total of 60 minutes of walking as fast as I can.:rolleyes2:

Phyll~

I also bead I do Indian beading on a loam, plus I'm about 3 mile from a reservation, I grew up and went to school with a lot of them, hell I can even speek some Yokut when I want too!

Cheri...thanks for seeing me...hahahahah

Charlene, since I am a cowgirl, I have grown up on cw music, and as a matter of fact, the 60's and 70's, and maybe some 50's are my favorites!

Goodnight everyone (I'll get to know your names as I go:rolleyes:)!

Good Morning Everyone! I haven’t posted in a few days, sorry. I have been very busy lately. I won’t even try to respond to everyone. I guess I need to check in more often to keep up properly.

Apples, Congratulations on the Anniversary! I hope your dinner went well. I enjoyed seeing your photos and lovely family. It is such a wonderful thing to have a loving family like you do.

I have been very busy at work lately. We just moved into a new building and have spent a lot of my time with move related stuff and getting many, many small things fixed. I fell behind in my regular stuff and have been pushing to get it all caught up. Whew, I am almost there. I had a rather disconcerting confrontation with an employee this week. He got all in my face because I did not schedule him to work overtime today (veteran’s day is a holiday for us) even thought he told me as far back as July that he wanted to work. Ok, he really did not put it to me quite so nicely; actually he got rather ugly about it. I tried to explain three separate times that I do not schedule overtime based on first come first served but rather try to distribute it equally. Since the people on the overtime list for today all had less overtime to date than he did, I had to exclude him. He was very angry and just kept it up. Finally after repeating myself three times I just told him I was sorry he felt that way but I could not help him on this one and walked away. Yikes, why do people act like fools? Maybe he will realize that you just can’t call dibs on a holiday 4 months in advance. If I let that happen I would have people requesting overtime a year in advance. Not happening!

I have been exercising a lot lately. Since I reached my goal of running a 5K ( it took me almost a year to accomplish) I needed a new goal. I debated a while whether I should try for a faster pace or longer run. I figured at 53 a faster pace was probably silly and I would never catch up with 20 or 30 year old so I am going with longer. My new goal is to run a 10 K without any walking. Speed is not important; I just want to be able to do it. I talked to my trainer about it and she is going to design our sessions to help me get there. She is such a cutie. She had me outside for the first half hour of our session doing intervals of running a block and then stopping to do an exercise like jumping jacks, squats or lunges. With all of the exercises thrown into the run it took a half hour to cover one mile. We went inside for the last half hour to do weights. Whew, some days she really kicks my butt.

I hope everyone enjoys their day. I have lunch plans with a friend today. It should be a good day.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
