Gosh Apples, I sure wish I had your amount of energy. You do soo much. Well today is (Sunday even) and I cleaned and organized all day. DH got the new kitchen window in today and so now things will move along a little faster hopefully. I made a pork roast in the crock pot since I have no kitchen. Made a salad, threw a few potatoes in the roast and thats what we had for dinner. I ate about 4 oz of pork roast and was completely full much to my surprise. The Protein really does make a difference. I am missing my hot vegetables and I don't like the way they cook in microwave. When I go out I get vegetables. Nothing else new to report. Hope everyone is having a good day today.

Hey Becky...hopefully you will get into your new kitchen soon. It really is an inconvenience when things are ripped apart. We basically gutted half our house 8 years ago in a remodel job. We lived in the basement for three months (one of those months I tripped off to Australia and left DH with the mess). Living in a basement in the winter is not recommended. Snow covered the windows...pretty depressing. We love our new rooms and was well worth the inconvenience. We have redone every room of this house and think we are finally done. Yahoo!

Oh Yes Apples it will be worth it as it needed it pretty bad. I forgot to tell you all that this morning (Sunday) we had a tornado rip through Springfield. It jumped all over the place and there is wide spread damage but luckily no one got hurt. It came and went so fast that you barely had time to go to the basement but the wind was ferocious. Anyway just wanted to tell you all about that.

Hi everyone, just checking in. I work on the weekends, so get too busy sometimes to post. Apples, we have one of the Geoge Foreman grills with interchangeable plates at work and it works very nicely. I'd never had one at home and I've been very impressed with it. I work at a call center and we eat all our meals at our desks while we work. Janet, hope you have a great time on your cruise, although we will miss you greatly. Thanks for posting the link to the instructions for the tickler. As you can see, it helped me greatly. DH wanted to go to a casino last night and eat the buffet. I did okay - had crab legs with cocktail sauce (not as good as the butter, but it was still tasty). I did have a bite or two of his prime rib and I also had about 1/2 a piece of cheesecake and a smidgeon of soft serve ice cream. I figure I've been good and exercising so will call it a "planned" treat. Got back on track today with no problem. Hope everyone has a great week! Linda

Chalia, I just looked at the link in your note (from Janet, I believe). If you go all the way through the information it tells you how to post to your signature block (in the User CP section found at the top left of this page). Check the link and see if you missed that part? There was a link earlier that everyone was sent to - but the pictures were so small I could not even read the instructions! This one if FULL SIZE! Big help!

Hi all,

I hope everyone had a good weekend. We had a good one - a date with friends on Sat night and brunch with another couple yesterday, followed by a little shopping excursion. DH bought a new phone - playing with that consumed his time the rest of the day! He is a gadget freak, and there are a LOT of gadgets out there... I've been working on the new baby's quilt - did not design this one because I found such a cute pattern I could not resist! Needless to say, I've been making "chicks" heads for a couple of days, and putting the blocks together today. Sounds weird, doesn't it? I will post a picture when it is finished. I think DD will love it and the baby will be nice and warm...

It's cold and cloudy here today and supposed to rain a lot later today and tonight. We need the rain, but it's kinda dreary to look at. Good day to stay inside and sew. Have a good Monday...

Janet, let me start off by saying that I love your posts and replys. They really inspire me and make me feel good about me and the decision that I made to change my life. I hope that someday I have your wisdom and strength. Thank you...your my inspiration through this journey.

I have had a very busy week, one more week until the big day for my daughter. Its all coming into place. I tried my outfit for the wedding on this week and its alittle baggy on me. I got a fill on Friday I was down 3lbs in 4 weeks. I was hoping for more but its better than gaining. I have beenworking out 5x a week and been eating right. So I was hoping for more. I do notice the inches more than the pounds.

Janet how often do you weigh yourself....I find myself doing it every morning and everynight. The scale always moves up about a pound or so in the evening.

When do you leave for your cruise?

Well I am off to go work out. Have a wonderful day.

Rose Thanks :0)

Congrats on 3 lbs - that's good - it's losing and thats what matters and in the end - it all adds up ..

During my weight loss phase I really only did weigh in on Thrusday mornings. I did that get on the scale ten times a day - but it was too frustrating... up 2 down 1 - down 3 up 1 - so one day a week - Now a days during my maintence I will jump on every couple of days - one day it will say 139 - one day 137 next 138.5 - so for me as long as I am in the 130 # I am happy even 140 doesn't bug me but above that - I then really watch what I am eating

Good Sunday everyone!!!! We had a great day for a baptism.. Baby Chloe was beautiful in her pretty while gown.. Couldn't even notice she was in the hosptial just a few short days ago.. She cried when they put the Water on her head... I served 45 for Breakfast.. It was very nice.. I sent some leftovers home with a brother and with my niece and the rest is put away or in the freezer, so I'm good to go!!!! No big temptations laying around anywhere.... I'll call the day a success... I am tired, though... Trying to rest up a bit, but have to gather my thoughts as I have a meeting in a little while about "family" stuff... Trying to be ther mediator in an issue about our farm.... Had a long talk with my brother who lives in SD just a bit ago.. It's so hard to try to find a way to bring opposing sides together.. Why me, Lord???!!!! I'll do my best and that will be that!!!

I "treated" myself to a cornmeal muffin with butter and honey along with my Protein for breakfast.. Yes, Janet, I said real butter.. I don't share your opinion about butter... I think some of the "unreal" stuff is way worse for you than a little real butter once in awhile.. Granted, I realize having gobs everyday would be a big mistake, so I don't.... but if I want butter I eat it! I also feel this way about Aspartame and Splenda.. It's manufactured and has some scary things in it... I don't want it, so use as little as possible... If I want something sweet I eat that, too.. Just not very often.. I have discussed these opinions with my medical people and they have given me their vote of approval... This works for me, but may not be for anyone else.. I guess that is what makes us all different. But our goals are all the same and getting there and staying there is the most important thing.

I'm happy to say that I'm down another pound.. Don't know if it will stay gone, but will hope so.. I'm just plain too tired to exercise today, but will plan on Water aerobics tomorrow.. We had a couple decent days this past week, but we are headed for a high of - 7 and a strong wind again on Tuesday.. Yippee....... I don't think spring will ever come again at this rate!!!! I have a yearning to go outside to walk, but just can't do the ice. I'm so afraid of falling and breaking something important...

Til next time................ Julie

Julie glad your baptism went off with out a hitch..

I am not against real butter or real sugar (i eat both occiassionaly) - anything real or artifical in moderation is ok - A planed treat is great - it's when you are not following a healthy lifestyle in your eating that I'm talking about - If you want to lose the weight you are going to have to watch what you eat and Sharon is struggleing on her food choices - and that's what I was talking to.. Why are you putting butter on your popcorn - We have to make change in our eating - I read an artical last night written by a 75 yr old lady - who has struggled her whole life with weight - I am going to have to get the artical - to speciaficaly quote what she said - but this the general drift "We act like children and not responsible adults when it comes to our food choices"

A child doesn't know that having half a stick of butter on your popcorn isn't healthy - but as a grown up we know it's not good for us - again I am not talking about small induglences -

Thanks for the advice. The looks like the increased excercise did the trick. I got on the scale today and am down 2 pounds:thumbup:I was so pumped I went for a 30 minute bike ride and am trying to do 2-3 bursts of really hard pedaling to get my heart rate up. I think I will do it again this evening as the weather today is gorgeous (80 degrees and a slight breeze). I'm going to try and drag the husband out with me.

Thanks for letting me in on this group. I have been following the advice for a few weeks. We all need someone to kick us in the butt sometimes!!

Have a nice Sunday and a great week.

Burgygirl - Congrats on your 2 lbs - WTG  Exercise is really about the intensity of your workout..

Hello Ladies, Had my granddaughters (8,4,&3)all weekend. I'm wiped. Thought I would be taking them sliding, but it rained last night so it is a little slushy. But we managed to get in swim classes. a dental fair. Some shopping and at least 6 showers.(baths) Also hours and hours of the wii bowling. Their PaPa is going to get the joy of this next weekend. But they ate what I ate, and didn't suffer for it. I get so much info from you girls. Thankyou. I think listening to you all makes me work alittle harder. You know "If they can do it i can too) Thank you again. Bonnie
Good evening everyone....Had a nice weekend. Benefit for our DS's friend went well. I swear everyone within a 20 mile area showed up. Nice silent auction, loads of people at the supper, dance and party after. DH and did not get home till 4:30 this morning. We have not done that for years. All my DS's friends and classmates were at the after party (kegger) and was so nice to visit with them. I was the sober driver and didn't mind waiting while the rest had a great time. I think my DH thought he could keep up with those young people. He has a beer now but not a big drinker...he had a smile pasted on his face.

I ordered a G.Foreman grill with the five interchangeable grilling plates. Have not used it yet but thought it would be a good appliance to have for doing my Proteins and things in a pinch for DH and I. I had one years ago but did not like it cuz plates did not come out to wash them. Will give the grill a try tomorrow when I make chicken.

Decided that I am heading to Vegas in a couple of weeks. Was invited to go out for a 50th bday party for a friend (12 going) but turned the invite down because I had conflicting things scheduled. Well, those things are now off my schedule and off I go. Me and another friend are going to surprise bday girl. Not telling the others we are flying in. Should be a good time.

Have a busy week getting ready for another friend

s 50th which is Friday night. We are expecting over 150 people and myself and another friend are taking care of all the provisions, decorations, etc. I am making the cakes and about half of the other food for party.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Later.

Apples - Glad the benefit went well - 4:30 in the morn !!! well I guess I did it in Vegas - so ya us Old Broads can do it every now and then :0) But I know I don't have half of your energy... Lucky Girl...

Glad you are going to Vegas to surpise your friend - that will be so much fun...

Gosh Apples, I sure wish I had your amount of energy. You do soo much. Well today is (Sunday even) and I cleaned and organized all day. Hope everyone is having a good day today.

Beckyo:thumbup:

Becky- I had my kitchen at my old house remodled like the week after GS was born - we were making bottles in the microwave that was in the living room...

You should have added some veggies to your pork roast ..

I had a craving for lamb yesterday - so I went to costco bought a leg of lamb - came home cut up red potatoes onion carrots and stuck it in the oven - OMW what a great dinner I had - will have enought for lunch the rest of the week..

Oh Yes Apples it will be worth it as it needed it pretty bad. I forgot to tell you all that this morning (Sunday) we had a tornado rip through Springfield. Linda - That's the ticket - Planned... That's life and we have to live it and that will include - cheesecake - ice cream - lobster & butter - or crab & butter - the diff is that we aren't doing every day 10 x a day... The diff is now the next day we get back to eating healthy..

I don't leave until 3/22 - and who know's I may jump online while we are at sea - depending on the cost :0)

And I am sure that between Apples & Phyl and all of you you will be just fine for a week without me - and I want you all to rely on each other during that week ok..

I made my ticker already - I just can't post it - don't know how to add it to my profile? Please let me know how to do that. Thanks.

Good morning gang - I am only working 1/2 day today then meeting one of my Lucky # 7 banders from Wisconsin - along with Phyl - we are getting together this afternoon then going up to the Tram for ride and dine (goole Palm Springs Aerial Tram) so I doubt I will be back on computer tonite

cHALIA, that link does show you how to add it to your profile if you go all the way through it. HOpe you found that out by now.

Well I called by doctor today for a fill and I go in at 12:45. I'm a little nervous but we'll see how it goes.

Are you nervous because this is your first fill? They are really nothing for me, just a little prick if that. Good luck, hope it gets you to your sweetspot.

Still very stressful here. But am getting out for lunch today so that is good. Grandma's furniture arrives on Wed. Mom helped me clean house today so got done in record time.

scale is on the downward slide again. HOORAY!!! I'm at 109 now!! Lost 3 lbs in a little over the last week. My body loses like this, big losses for a week or so then nothing for a few weeks. Everytime it happens I tihnk I am never going to lose again. However, in my defense, I have noticed that instead of going a week or two between losses it's now like 3 to 4 but it's still going down. If I go for my dr's high end of his goal for me, I am only 15 lbs away!! But I am thinking of trying for the normal BMI which is about 25 lbs.

Long, I so hear you about you about the way you are losing.. That's how it is for me... I was at 312 on the 25th at for my last fill... Lost 3 pounds right away and then nothing again for a week and then 2 more... So I don't expect to see the scale move for a week or 2.... But it still said 307 after my indulgence of yesterday, so I'm feeling fine about it... Had a bad night.... I had another bout with the trapped gas and lower backache... It was miserable and finally went to sleep at 3:15..... Went to swim aerobics with a friend this morning and she suggested it might be colon spasms.. Never even gave anything else a thought.. Just figured I ate something I shouldn't have and my stomach was punishing me... don't knw what to think now.. Suppose I should have it checked out...... Anyway, I came home and jumped in the hot tub for a bit and then a shower, so I'm clean and exercised and very ready for a nap as I sure didn't sleep well last night... Luckily I don't have Mimi today and can just be lazy... Talk to you all later.......... Julie

PS: Oh, and Long.......congrats on being so close to your goal.. It must be an amazing feeling!! Can hardly wait to be in your shoes..

Janet......good to hear from you. Are you feeling better? I went out for dinner last night and shared a dessert with DH for my birthday. It was so much better than him buying me a cake. I thought I would get out this morning and walk, but my sweet mother called to tell me to stay in and lock my doors. There was a carjacker a couple of miles from here that shot at a man and then shot at the police. That was six hours ago and they still haven't found him. You know this is Texas so the sheriff's dept is out with horses and dogs. Anyway, I am not walking today.

Long, it sounds as though things are going well with mom and grandma. I need a tweek too. I am going next monday for a fill. My son is having surgery on thursday so I will be busy caring for him. He is divorced so I am the designated caregiver. I don't mind. I like to baby my grown kids ..........once in awhile. My husband is excited because he is looking forward to some good cooking.....lol.

Julie...might be a good idea to check with your doc on that problem. Even if it is gas he can recommend something. That happens to me once in awhile and it's usually when I get a lot of Fiber. I take Gas X and it seems to work OK. Not fun when it happens though.

Long...you are certainly on the downhill and will see your goal within a short time at the rate you are going. Whatever you set your goal at...

JoAnne...please share your quilt photos when you are done with it. Sounds really cute. Dark and dreary here today also. We are in winter storm warnings until Wed morning. We are in for 12 inches supposedly. So want to be done with the snow. Just hope it does not interfere with my upcoming Vegas trip. Got all my packing done this morning...tried on clothes...eliminated some due to over packing. I zipped up the suitcase and refuse to open it again till I get there.

DH and DS are off at meetings all day so I have the house to myself. Busy scanning photos and such for 50th bday party. Going to set up a 10" digital frame that a bunch of us girls went in on. We got some crazy photos from bday girl's DH. Crazy busy week...just hope to stayed organized so I can fit it all in.

Hope everyone else's Monday is all sunshiney!!!! Not happening here....but, I feel kind of sunshiney on the inside!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charlene...belated Happy Birthday...and many more. Sounds like a scary incident in your area this morning. Take care.

Wishing your DS good luck with his surgery. I, too, love to take care of my kids. Every once in awhile my oldest (who works with us and is here daily) has to remind me that I am mothering too much. He does appreciate me but I tend to go overboard sometimes.

Thanks! They tracked the gunman with dogs to a neighborhood and then lost his scent. They said someone picked him up. I am sure this was planned. It was in a gated community. Desperate times brings on crime. Oh well, no excuses now.....I need to get out and walk. Yeah, my DS has a tear in his shoulder and will be in a sling for six weeks. His work requires alot of travel so he should be mobil in a week or two. Meanwhile, I will spoil him.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
