Georgiagirl,

How is your med different than just plain metformin? Oh and I bought Breyers sugar free ice cream today because of the pms and the MIL coming tomorrow and it was pretty good! I hope it's not bad for me but it's better than other choices I have made in the past!

I think I've been calling it the wrong thing, it's ACTOplus met. Actos directly targets insulin resistance, and Metformins' primary act is to reduce the amount of glucose produced by the liver. They work together to help manage blood glucose levels. I'm not really sure if it's better, but my Endocrinologist wanted to put me on it and it has worked really well for me.

I'll have to look for the ice cream and see what's in it and the nutritional info. I have to be careful with sugar free stuff, especially if it contains Maltitol....it makes me sick and basically runs right through me.

Georgiagirl,

Ever since being lap banded I've been constipated so I don't have that problem. I think the antidepressants add to it. I don't see my endocrinologist until August. It's amazing how few they have in my area, it's killer to get an appointment! So basically this is just what my PCP has prescribed for me so who knows what the endo will do. thanks Nancy.

Yeah, I know. I drive 2 hours to see my Endo. Your endo will probably do massive bloodwork tests. When they drew my blood, I saw the list of test and there were A LOT! Mine has really helped me. I hope yours can help you too.

Georgiagirl,

Wow, I guess I have nothing to complain about. I drive 45 minutes but I have to wait months for an appointment! I could have seen my old one but she was a real:cursing: and I did not like her bedside manner. I think she hated fat people! Why go into endocrinology if you don't like fat people? Come on:scared2:

I still have to get to Georgia one day, my favorite person in the world is Paula Deen and I've never been to Savannah. I have her cookbook signed by her and her husband Michael, you probably don't even know who I'm talking about do you?

I don't know now whether the metformin is working or not but that "going right through you" thing you were speaking of previously has been happening to me for the past two hours. I swear not since prior to surgery and prior to medifast shakes I have not had this gastrointestinal issue! Hopefully it's a good thing!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
