My doctor told me NO popcorn, so I've been afraid to try. He forbid very few items, so I figured he had a good reason. Going to the movies KILLS me.....

I have popcorn a lot, especially now that they have those 100 calorie snack bags of popcorn. As long as I chew well, I have never had a problem getting it down.

I've got pretty good restriction now and I don't have a problem with popcorn. Never been an issue and I don't remember my doc ever saying not to have it.

my doctor said no popcorn, but it has nothing to do with the band, he just thinks popcorn is a horrible food to eat. he says he has seen enough of people's insides to know that popcorn stays in the body and does not digest completely.

i still eat popcorn, although now it is like once a month, prior to surgery it was every night.

I have had no problems with popcorn at all. I eat the 100 cal packs once in awhile and hubby took me to the movies the other night and I had some of the "real" stuff. It was tasty but then I felt guilty HAHA

popcorn is my worst enemy now. I ate it for 2 years with no trouble. Then Saturday, went to the movies with my kids and consumed too much. It got stuck and yesterday I had to go have all my fill removed and my esophagus is so swollen it is having spasms and hurts like $&%!! I have a fever, it hurts to swallow anything, and I am on liquids for 1 week. All of this just for one bucket of movie popcorn...NEVER again. My band doc told me that popcorn and coconut are the only 2 thigs he tells his band patients they should never eat. Now I know why!

My advice/personal experience- you have to be very careful with popcorn. It does go down easy when your stoma is open... but on hormonal days, or tight days stay away from it. I too didn't think much of eating a small handful of popcorn 10-15 pop clusters at the movies with the kiddos. Well, hubby stayed in the movie with the kiddos while I paid $8.00 to stay in the bathroom with a massive sliming experience. I ended up on liquids for 3 days to recover from it. Now I stay away from popcorn. It isn't the pop part that creates the problem... it is those nasty kernal skins.

Have you tried puff corn? It has a very similar taste as it is "puffed corn". My 18 month old daughter LOVES it. You have to be careful though, 2 1/2 cups(which is a lot) has 160 cals and 10g fat. If you loved popcorn though and couldn't eat it, it would be a good alternative on occassion.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
