Did you lose weight in the first weeks post band?

Recommended Posts

I am less than a week post-banding and my weightloss is in my ticker

I was also told over and over not to worry about weightloss...to just focus on getting enough calories and Protein for proper healing. I think the weight is beginning to come off only because I'm not doing so well with the 2-week liquid diet post-op. I should definately be getting more calories and Protein in.

Many do! Don't understand it myself....I didn't lose any weight preop or post op. But 10 weeks later I lost my first ounce.

Go figure!

But hope for the best (losing weight without adjusting the lapband) but prepare for the worst (not loosing weight until you adjust the band)

I see your time is fast approaching....good luck! And keep us posted.

I lost tons in the first weeks, it came off fast and steadily. I find it incredible that people dont lose, but I guess that's because I had really great restriction at first, the post op period lasted about 8 weeks for me, no appetite combined with super enthusiasm and I lost about 30lb in that time, which was a third of my excess weight.

It steadily got slower after that, lost 30 in the next six months, 30 lb the second year, but that got me to goal, I've lost about 10lb in the last seven or eight months.

1) Let the band do it's job.

By virtue of getting the band in place doesn't result in restriction. For some it does, however....what a bonus!

2) Allow time to heal and remember the Lapband System begins to work with adjustments. So, if you don't lose an ounce before your first fill about 6 weeks out...don't stress over it. But many diet during this time and lose weight. (my doc said if I could have been sucessful at dieting...I wouldn't need the band - but many can diet either pre or post op, but that doesn't mean I'm a total failure)

3) Stay close to your chosen physician, heed the advice and direction.

4) Let the band do it's job....let it restrict your food intake. During the weightloss period of the system learn the band, learn what you can eat; and then when you go on maintenance keep your portions controlled.

I lost 20 lbs pre-op, and have lost 17 more lbs since my banding on Apr 17th, for which I am extremely grateful.

I'm hungry , but I'm coping...I can't wait for my first fill on May 20th!

I lost 13 pounds pre op then I was banded on 4/23 and have lost 9 pounds in 6 days.

I was up exercising the day of my surgery though. I am bound and determined to get this weight off and the key to success I hear is capitolizing on the fast weight loss in the beginning with exercise.

I was banded 3 weeks ago and was on a liquid diet 3 days before surgery. I have lost almost 30 lbs!! I am not allowed to consume more than 2 oz at a time and haven't had anything but liquids for a very long time. But, I am happy with the loss!!

I am six days post op and have lost 12 pounds. I'll also add I'm 5'10 and weighed 345 for this last surgery.

However, going from one extreme way of eating (2-3 route 44ounce Rootbeers a day habit), to sipping on juice, Protein drink, Water, popsicles, and getting Soup and applesauce today, I'm bound to lose!

I am concentrating on healing right now, it's most important in our journey.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
