After 3 months of jumping thru hoops for Aetna, I finally have a date, May 20. I was surprised they only took a week to decide. I can't say enough how excited I am to finally have the hope to recognize a 25 yr old dream. I'm not scared but oh so anxious, I wish it was tomorrow!

Hi! My surgery is scheduled for May 22 in Los Angeles, where are you located?

Hey Jazzyywan!! I'm from Attleboro and I'm always in Providence! I'm getting banded in Norwood on the 29th!! Good luck!!!!!

I'm in Florida, I have pre op at the hosp on May 12, and pre op with the Dr on My 14th, and then May 20 is V-DAY!

I know your excited about getting your lap-band surgery this month. I had mine Mar 18th and got my first fill Apr 28th. I'm sure you know what to expect. I can tell you I'm real happy that I had it done for many many

reasons. I had mine at Duke University in North Carolina. They had me fast on liquid protein for about 10 days before my surgery and then they weighed me. I wish they had weighed me first then my loss would seem more dramatic. I had been dieting most of my adult life without much success until I joined a program with BC/BS. I did good with that but as usual I stopped and started gaining it back. My official weigh in was 329

March 18th and I have lost, so far, down to 287. This is the first time in many years that I feel so encouraged I have been going out at sun up and

walking 2 1/2 miles.

If I can give you a heads up on anything let me know

Bob

I went to my first consult with the surgeon today so I am starting the journey in May so hope I can join you all in the journey ! I think the consult raised more questions than I had to start with. The doc said lose weight before the op. but not how much or even how ! if i knew how I wouldnt need the surgery. I have 75 to lose after the banding. How did you all lose weight before your surgeries? thanks

Hello, Got to get healthy! Welcome to the May banders. My surgery is May 12th. My doc has a pretty extensive pre op program to teach us how to do the work before surgery. We have to go on a protein shake diet for 10 days before surgery. They told us that it helps the dr if we can help make our internal organs a little smaller before hand. It also prepares us for how we will be eating after surgery for the first 7-10 days. I don't think it is so much how much you loose just that you can lose a little and not go hog wild eating just because you are having surgery. I did a little of that before I started my fast. I kind of said good bye to pizza and ice cream. LOL I know that eventually I will be able to have some of my old foods back but in very small amounts and just for special occasions. Since our stomachs will be very small we need to concentrate on getting good protein and healthy veggies. Buy yourself some good protein powder that has at least 20 gms of protein per scoop and try substituting a meal or two with thoes. Others are saying that they can have cottage cheese and lowfat yogurt and lean chicken. Cruise around the website and you will get all kinds of helpful advise. Good luck and best wishes to you. Becky
