So you've gotten to your sweet spot (oops typo in the poll question! swet spot, lol), but you've lost weight and alas, you've lost it! You finally decide it's time for a fill.

How long after a meal before you get hungry again? As in, how long do you stay satisfied for when you need a fill but havent gotten one yet?

If you haven't reached your sweet spot at least once, don't answer this. :purplebananna: I'm curious how long people stay satisfied when it's time for a fill.

Me too Jack. If I am buzy I will forget to eat, I used to have skinny friends a few years ago that would talk about forgetting to eat and I was like "how do you forget to eat? You have a constant reminder in your belly telling you 'FEED ME' all the time!" But I have noticed, that if I am buzy or preoccupied that insistant feeling sometimes goes away completely. I forget to eat. Just like a skinny girl in the making.:thumbs_up:

I just had my 10th fill - and I think I am finally at the right fill level. Yay. Normally, when I'm at my sweet spot, I stay satisfied for a minimum of 4 hours, sometimes all the way up to 6 or even 8. But always at least 4 hours.

When I lose that "sweet spot", I notice that I'm hungry after 1 to 2 hours, not a big hunger, but I do feel it, it takes a little will power not to grab a snack. I know then, its time for a fill.

I'm now at 3.9 cc's in a 4 cc band, and for the first time in my 16 month band history, I can no longer eat bread! I'm just excited that I finally have enough restriciton that a certain food is off limits!

Although I do have a little restriction I've never had a "sweet spot". Was banded 2/19 and have had only 1 fill. Get my second on next week (5/14). Maybe I'll actually have good restriction after this next fill.

I had my first fill with good restriction a month ago. That lasted almost two weeks, then I was hungry again. My second fill is scheduled for mid-June. Do you think I should call and try to go in earlier, or just wait it out? I'm not loosing at all, and maybe even gaining some back. Thanks for any input!

I'd call. I had to call. I got only my first fill scheduled and never even got my a fill anyway. My second was originally scheduled for July, from March!!! If they won't give one to you I'd demand to talk to the program administrator. It seems that others at my LB center had fills pre-arranged but not me. Was able to get fills for may & june, too.

I've had 5 fill since banded 1/28. I go two weeks and then if I notice nothing is happening I call for another fil and usually get it. Maybe I'm aggressive but the doctor has been going along with more frequent fills. After this 5th fil I have restriction which can be painful sometimes. I'm hoping it will loosen up like I've read on the sites, but not too much.

SLAP me back into reality since i've already called my dr & will be getting my second fill next tuesday but until then i need some encouragement cuz i feel like i'm losing control of myself!!! Be patient and don't give up. I had two fills and felt very little restriction and was pretty disappointed. Last week I had my third fill (went from 5cc to 6cc in a Realize 10 band) and it was a MAJOR difference. The first day I could barely keep Water down and food was impossible. It has been one week now and I can eat only small amounts of food and I have to eat very, very slowly. I have lost about 3 lbs this last week. So, you probably just haven't reached your "sweet spot" yet.

I have had 3 fills since feb and my dr. seems to think that is more than enough and he looks at me as if I am crazy when I say I really cant feel any different. the last 2 fills had to be done by flouriscope so its not like I enjoy getting poked. He accused me in may of not following the program and drinking my calories because I did gain 1 pound. I hate milk and am allergic to juices. so Water. and I was up front and told him I do drink 1 diet coke of 120z a day. he refused a fill and told me to try harder. I cut out Breakfast and started water aerobics. so 6 weeks later I did loose 4 lbs. so I was rewarded with a fill. If I had wanted ridiucule I wouldnt have went through surgery to do this. How would you suggest I talk to my dr. about fills. I have 5 1/2 cc now in a 10 cc band.

Your problem may be the diet coke. In my nutrition classes they told us that you absolutely MUST give up carbonated beverages after surgery. The carbonation can make the pouch expand. In fact, they said that of the people who gain the weight back, most of them had started drinking carbonated beverages again.

I don't think that I would like your doctor very much. Ridicule is the last thing you need.

I would see If I could change physicians. I don't know if that is possible where you live but if you could I would. We go through our lives being overweight and ridiculed and now try to do something positive and THE DOCTOR is going to ridicule you-that is completely unacceptable.

I just had a fill yesterday bringing me to 9 cc's in the 10 cc Inamed Band. I have gotten fills, gotten restriction, lost restriction, lost weight. gained weight. At the times that i did have good restriction, I would stay satisfied for at least 5 hours. I think my major problem with restriction is that my doctor follow a schedule for fills that in my opinion is too far apart. I would get a fill and for like 3 weeks would be great then lose my restriction (completely at times) and begin to gain the 10 lbs or so that I lost. Yesterday. Dr Fill  says that he thinks that this one may be the one. Before this, at 8 cc's I was able to eat an entire "diner" wrap. I was getting full quicker then pre band but not enough to lose weight.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
