Even if it stinks we will still get to meet each other!

Hi everyone...I got my surgery date! It will be June 26 @ the Faulkner. I haven't been there yet...anyone have their surgery at Faulkner? What was it like, I assumed I would be operated on at the Brigham, so I am not sure what to expect!

Thanks so much...I will try to get there for the meeting next week, but I'm not sure if I can get my son any childcare (DH is out of town). Thanks!

I'm going to try hard to get to Monday's meeting - i could use some support!! I'm sorry I had to miss May's meeting. hope to see lots of folks there....

Gin, I had my surgery at the faulkner and it's much less hectic than BWH. It's pretty nice there, and you get a private room, lovely nursing staff and quick attention if you have a problem. I've had other procedures/surgeries at BWH and can't say the same for Boston....M

:biggrin:hi tiny...i got my band 9 days ago on 6/26 at the faulkner. everything went pretty well & im healing nicely. still a bit sore...i went to work on thursday and was tired but made it through most of the day.

like a bonehead i took off my steri strips because they were all stained and gross looking & now my incisions are stinging a bit. i did put some new ones on but they arent as heavy duty as the hospitals i guess.

i am dropping weight pretty quickly...so thats a plus! today i noticed that the swelling must be almost gone because i was able to drink a lot in a short period of time...i am wondering how restricted i will feel when i get to the mushy stage.

just out of curiosity (everyone)...what were your post op diet guidelines? i have two different sets of info from brigham and i am not sure which one to follow (i will have to email natalie). the pamphlet they gave me on discharge said 3 weeks of liquids, & 3 soft solid but the packet from the dietitian said 2 liquid, 2 soft solid, 2 diced Protein.

obviously, i am eager to get off the liquids asap, but i found it odd that i got conflicting info from the same practice and honestly dont know which one to follow.

overall im well and excited about the changes im seeing already...cant wait to see what the months ahead will show on the scale :frown:

Hi all..I am in the process of getting banded at BWH. I had my initial visit this week and am waiting to schedule my appts next week. I will be using Dr. Robinson.

I, too, had Dr. Robinson in Dec. of 2007. He's really a great guy. If you've ever seen any of my posts in the past, you'd see my progression with warming up to him! He's a pretty serious guy and isn't much for small talk. When I was struggling with following all of the rules, working out regularly, and getting really frustrated, he finally "came alive". I think he needed to be needed before he felt comfortable truly stepping up. He's nice enough, but in all seriousness, I wasn't choosing him based on his abilities as a cheerleader. He's a great surgeon. I've visited him both at BWH and the Faulkner, depending on what fit my schedule and where I was working on any given day....I've enjoyed both staffs tremendously. Jennifer, though, his secretary, deserves a gold star! She's patient and really helpful. I had my initial consult and was operated on less than 5 weeks later. She was tremendously informative and quite sweet, too!

Mel, didn't realize you had this thread going all this time!!! Anyone going in August? Mel and I were at the June suport group meeting with one newbie.....and I, too, was traveling for work in July. I will be there in August. Anyone coming with me??!! Phyllis is great, but I sure could use some friends!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
