Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Recommended Posts

I just want to thank everyone....

After my surgery, I thought I was going to be fine doing this on my own but it's obvious I can't do this by myself.

It feels nice being here... with people who have had surgery the same time I did. i hope you all don't mind me hanging around for awhile?

Of course no one minds! It certainly helps to have advice, knowledge, whatever... from others who are in the same situation or have been or might be!

Hi everyone!

I am new here, as you can see. I have been trying to figure out how to navigate this posting board. Can someone tell me how I can find this again??

I was banded on April 8, 2008 and I definitely have no regrets. I am down almost 60 lbs but feel I should be further along. I did have foot surgery in December so I have been immobile for the past 2 months. I go back to my doctor next Wed and fear I have lost 0 lbs since my last weigh in back in November. I know I need to get exercising........my downfall. I get motivated and then I STOP!!

I am glad I found you!! I think this is what I need.

Thanks!

Carole:wink2:

Kalipso - I'm glad you've dropped in to chat with us. It helps me know what to be on the look out for regarding fills, etc. I also tried to do it myself (just my husband knows about the surgery) and I was struggling by the time September rolled around. The ladies here have really helped me a lot. Hopefully now that you've gotten the problem taken care of, you'll be able to get in enough calories to start losing weight again. You've done great with your loss so far!

Carole - Welcome aboard! I'm not too savvy about the Lap Band Talk website. When I sign in, it automatically tells me which forums I've communicated with so I click on that one. Hope that helps! Congrats on losing 60 pounds! I'm also having a hard time getting motivated to go to the gym. I'm ready for Spring to arrive so I can start up riding my bike to work and taking my twice daily walks. That made such a difference before that I'm really looking forward to it.

I hope everybody has a great weekend! Happy Valentine's Day:tt1:

Welcome Carole! .....and Kalipso too!!!!

I think this place is wonderful! We are able to bounce ideas off each other, share our experiences and encourage each other to keep going. I have found that I do better when I stay in touch. Sometimes I'm more active on here than others, but I'm always at least reading up on what's happening.

You are all doing so well on your weight loss!

Hi! :cursing: It's been...well months since I've been here. I haven't done well at all - in fact, I actually changed surgeons, because he wouldn't fill be very tightly. In the last year, I'd only have 2.3 cc in my 10 cc band! :frown: When I went to my new surgeon, he about laughed himself out of the chair and said, "NO WONDER YOU HAVEN'T LOST ANYTHING!"

Well. I needless to say I'm now at 5 cc and am really for the first time feeling restriction! I eat a few bites and am full. Really full - for hours. It's amazing what a difference this new surgeon made. He even made me make an appointment before I left instead of saying, "Well, if you feel like you need one, call us."

Hopefully now I'll see some real results. When I weighed in, I'd only lost 11 lbs since pre-op almost a year ago!!!

Hi Nurse7263!

Welcome! Welcome!

I'm glad you got a new surgeon. I am amazed at how many go so long without proper follow up care. Especially the fills, or should I say lack-there-of.

It sounds like you are on your way now! Stick around and get to know some people. It's a pretty great group and we are here for each other!

Happy Monday everybody! It's nice to see people using this chat. I gain so much insight and it helps a ton. After a month of struggling with 2 pounds, I made it below 140!!! Just 4 pounds to my goal weight now.

Welcome home Brandy! It sounds like you had a much deserved great time. Way to go!

Nurse - now that you're doctor is on track, you should see results. I'm impressed with your dedication even though you weren't seeing results on the scale. It's great to hear your current fill seems to be working well. Good luck!

Carol - I hope your recovery is going well. Do you have any Fluid in your band now?

Hi Ladies. How is everybody doing? There hasn't been a lot of activity lately - hope everyone is doing well.

Carol - How's it going with limited restriction?

Brandy - How was the wedding?

Nurse - How is it going with more restriction?

I'm doing well. I had a great moment on Saturday. JCPenney was having a sale on pants ($4.97 each!!). I have two pair of pants that fit relatively well, but I have to wear a belt with them. I grabbed a size 12 and headed to the fitting room - too big! I grabbed a size 10 - still too big!! I ended up with a size 8 - just right!!! Holy Buckets, I can hardly believe it. They are "stretch" denim pants, but I'm still in a single digit number. I was size 12 in middle school and high school, so I didn't even know what to expect.

I think I need to have a slight unfill. I have bile issues at night. I wake up with my throat hurting, where bile came up and I swallowed it before waking up. Do you think it's worth it to get .1 cc or .2 cc removed? I don't want to get too much taken out, but would really like this new development to go away.

I hope everybody has a wonderful week!!!

Hi everyone! Well, I went to my doctor last Wednesday and I lost 3 lbs since my last visit (November). Of course I was disappointed, but they were actually surprised I didn't gain since I have been immobile since beginning of Dec with the foot surgery. Anyway, I did have them give me a .5cc fill but by the next morning I couldn't keep even Water down....so needless to say I had to get it removed. This is the 2nd time this happened. My last fill of 1cc I had to have .5 cc removed. My doctor said I may be where I need to be. Does this mean just for now and when I lose a significant amt more, I will need an adjustment again?

Ok so the wedding was awesome I had alot of snags and delays... But what wedding doesn't eh? It's a really long story but it all went well and in the end I was married.

The worst and best part of the wedding was I lost a ton of weight in January and my dress ended up being way too big and because of flight delays we couldn't have her alter it since the bride was sitting on the floor at that airport the whole night before the wedding.

After returning from Hawaii the girls made an impromptu plan of doing an all girl trip to cali to hit the casinos... we started in eugene, Oregon and went down toSanta Cruz, California.... It took us 5 days and it was so much fun.

So I am really back now! I just had my anniversary yesterday and I am down 83lbs. I was shootingfor 90 by 1 year so think i will make it.

Hope everyone is well and I will try to catch up very soon

Checking in after being AWOL for a few months. You think you don't need the boards because it's going well and then BANG, you get a reminder that it isn't easy to do this alone.

I've hit a wall! Just like in any marathon (anyone see the movie "Run Fat Boy Run").? First, plateau, which is a physical wall and aggravates; but in addition to that, I felt very tight and couldn't eat much. Combine feeling like I couldn't eat anything with the stress of my husband's business being no business because of the economy and my job being more stressful than ever and what happened? HAAGAN DAZ, chocolate and chips. The three easiest items to eat when banded. I've spent a month going up and down the same 5-7 pounds. It's been tough and I think I'm starting to move past it and of course my band feels alot looser as well. I also have the added fun of being one of those banders who still get that pain in the left shoulder when my stomach is empty. So, there's a great excuse to eat more, right? Bottom line, after 9 months we're certainly not cured of the addictive part of eating. Still a battle. I'm pushing throgh the wall to continue0 I hope. I'm off the Haagan Daz now (promised the therapist), and trying to stay with about 1200 a day including excercise.

Thanks for listening. I'm going to try to stay here- it really helps.

How is everyone doing?

Hey Gdf.. I can second that. I don't think there's a cure for the food addiction. I have never been diagnosed with one but I consider the mass volumes of food I could consume to be an addiction lol.

I think the band has just helped me to curb it. Unfortunately if I didn't have restriction I know I would be sitting in a corner somewhere shoving in a big mac. OMG I miss bread lol.

Good for you getting back on track and it's nice to see you revisiting the boards. I was Awol for a bit because of 2 trips and such and I am enjoying catching back up.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
