Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)

Had my LAP BAND done on 11-26-2007 in Buffalo, NY at Buffalo General Hospital by Dr. Aaron Hoffman. I've have had no problems what-so-ever and the support from Dr. Hoffman has been FANTASTIC. He is the BEST doctor ever! I would recommend anybody from the Buffalo, Rochester, NY area to have Dr. Hoffman perform the BAND! GREAT DOC!

Val, I am glad u have some relief, I know when I was too tight it wasn't worth the weight I lost. I was miserable. Heal first, then worry about your diet.

Linda, it is so nice to see you back. if your weight gain is from slider foods, I don't think a fill will help. I am speaking from experience. Eat protien and see if u feel full and then you'll know.........It is hard, because I also let myself slide and now the thought of meat and cheese and eggs make me sick sometimes...keep us posted and just know you are not alone we are all struggling. the band is not the easy way out, it is just a tool, we still have to work hard to get to our goal.......vicki

Vicki My appt was for 10:30 I was there until noon.

Bugs, I wish I had known you were there, were u in the room with the leak? lol:redface:

yes I was in the room in the leak. How did you know?

Vicki, I forgot to mention I had a bagel and slice of pizza on Sunday with no problems and that scared me.

Which is the room with the leak?

yes I was in the room in the leak. How did you know?

I was in the hall with Mel and you came out and said there was a leak in your room and then they put me in the room next to you and I could hear all the commotion. I wish I had known it was you.........

Oh, gotcha, yea If you can eat that with no difficulty at all then maybe you do need a fill, that is how I felt when they deflated me and I gained a ton of weight. you only have 3.5 cc so dont hesitate to use you "tool" band, if you need to. I have 5.7cc and I can still eat more than I need to. Everyone is different though and even myself I was too tight at 5cc at one time and now at 5.7 I'm not so it is not an exact science i am finding out... trial and error I guess. stay posted and let us know how your doing.

Yeah I remember seeing the person in the next room, I had no idea it was you.

I am signed up for the Sept. Seminar, WOOT, WOOT:thumbup:

I have a question though. Does everyone have to have a sleep study done before the surgery or is it only the one's that may have sleep apnea? If it is a requirement I want to go ahead and get it done now.

Dr hoffmans office gave me the form for the psych exam so I'm going to get that done ASAP, I just want to make sure I get everything I need done before the seminar so hopefully this process goes as smooth as possible.

I've been having trouble eating when I do I get a stuck feeling in my throat. Then I have to drink something. Does anyone else have that problem?

As far as I know Maggie everyone has it done, including myself, but you can call lisa, Dr H's secretary and she can tell you for sure. congrats on the sem. and upcoming surg. vicki

Bugs I get it in my chest, it is uncomfortable and sometimes very painful and i take a few sips to help move it along. dr H. called it rescue sips one time, but he didn't like it, cause he doesn't want us to drink... Maybe someone else here has some ideas.

When I get that stuck feeling, I absolutely can't take the "rescue sips".. It makes it worse.. I just sit quietly and try to burp and hopefully it doesn't come up.. and it settles down.. you can kind of feel it go thru...it only has happened a few times that it doesn't go away by itself and when I don't feel better w/i about 5 minutes, I go to the bathroom and try to make it come up.. I then feel much better.. but this is so funny and I think that we would all agree that we all are so different and handle the stuck feeling in different ways. Some of the girls can take sips..some bring it up right away and many don't even get stuck !! good luck

Maggie, I would deffinately go for the psych exam asap but I would also call the office before you go thru a sleep study.. I don't know why it would be a requirement unless there is a question of sleep apnea or even any snoring.. Going for a sleep study is definately painless but also a definate pain in the BUTT!! If you don't need to, why then ? I would also call first..

O.K., here is my dilemma, I am a definite snacker and I am going crazy. so does anyone have any low carb solutions. I asked dr. H. about nuts and popcorn and he said that was o.k. does anyone else have any secrets they want to share. No cheese or meat please..lol

Vicki,

you threw me off with that no cheese part. Haha. I live on cheese sticks as a snack I love them. Have you tried Greek Yogurt? Its so full of protein its awesome. Just add some splenda and it tastes good.
