Band Slipped:(
I'm happy for you, great job....

Band Slipped:(
why do u think u are to blame for the band slipping? My doc says mine slipped cause i lost weight and the band became too loose., and what if someone gets the stomach flu? then what? is that our fault? I do understand there are thing we can do to increase the chances of band slippage, but come on now how they frown when there are things out of our control that can cause it to happen. good luck to u, I just had mine fixed 4 weeks ago and am terrified of losing it, cause my doc says if you have a slip the chances r higher for us to have a reccurance. let us know how you make out..:smile2:

Band Slipped:(
good luck to u, I really feel for u, cause i too felt the same way when mine slipped, although, I dont know why he didn't deflate you, cause just about everyone Ive heard who had a slip was deflated for 6 weeks?

Band Slipped:(
I wish I was so lucky, this is my post above and after 3 days of the slip I had to have emergency surgery and have my band revised, 3 hr surgery, lots of scar tissue around the band, I could not eat or drink anything lost 15 lbs in a week. I am 4 weeks post op, just got a 2 cc fill and gained the 15 lbs back:scared2:..anyway they used the same band and just hiked it up and sewed it back in place, he called it an acute prolapse and said it was due to the weight loss and the band got loose and slipped, he said it was a pretty severe prolapse. good luck, sounds like u will be fine.....

my band is slipped, will it ever be ok again
I'm surprised the doc would do it without pre authourization. did you have a revision or a replacement?

my band is slipped, will it ever be ok again
For me the symptoms were not being able to swallow anything, not even water. it was total obstuction. But like Scott said a barrium swallow will be the concluding factor.

Am I too tight??
dont do what I did and get too tight to lose weight, now look at me, I have a slipped band and may never be the same, take it slow and steady and you will reach your goal. I only hope i can have a revision and get back on track, and believe me it will be nothing but slow and steady for me if I get a second chance.:wink2:

Oh thanx teacher, what is the difference between a revision and a rebanding? do you know the stats on revision, does it usually work as well as the first band?:wink2:

thanx again scott, I cannot imagine my life without the band either and now I am hearing that insurance does not always pay for a rebanding, and that scares the crap out of me. I have such terrible hearburn right now and all im drinking is water and broth, but my stomach is so swollen that I think it is just sitting in my chest...

Band Slipped:(
I too was just told my band slipped, i couldnt get water down and was losing weight fast. i had 3 unfills in the last week and was still having terrible reflux so they did a fluro today and found the slip, i go back tues and I guess discuss options of surgery or not, good luck to you, I know what u r going thru.

my band is slipped, will it ever be ok again
thanx for getting back to me scott as you know there arent too many people to talk to about this since we are the minority. I still dont know how this happened, cant find much about it online even. do u know? I too couldn;t keep water down it was miserable. I hear alot of people go in right away for surgery so why is my doc waiting and having me come back tues. he says sometimes they correct themselves but usually will not hold a fill without prolapsing again. Im glad I have u too talk too.... thanx vicki PS also, is there any complications or negatives to having the band replaced, or is it just like getting it the first time. is the surgery as painful as the first one.

Self-Fill are you doing this?
scott, I have been banded since june of 08' and I was told today i have a slipped band and will need surgery, i too was unable to drink water. and had terrible reflux. how was the second surgery and is it as succesful as the first? any reply is appreciated... thanx vicki

Self-Fill are you doing this?
wow, I am so impressed with your numbers, how did u lose so fast. why a new band? i ask because i was just told today my band has slipped and i may need surgery and i wonder if they use a new band and if it works as well as the first one.

Am I too tight??
sandi, if water won't go down then u r obstructed. But listen to me I went back in today because I was still after all the unfills having really bad reflux last nite and they did a barrium swallow and my band has slipped, and pretty bad too. so I am on total liquids for the next two weeks and they totallly unfilled me and i may have to have surgery to repair it. they also told me if I cant get liquids down over the weekend, I have to go the the ER and maybe have emergency surgery due to obstruction...be careful and I only wish I had been more careful and slower with the fills.

my band is slipped, will it ever be ok again
I had a barrium swallow today cause i have been having extreme reflux and even couldn't swallow water at times. they said it is pretty bad and i have to stay on liquids for 2 weeks and will probably have to have surgery. I am soo scared, has any one else experienced this and how did you do. any advice is so greatly appreciated. they said if they try to tighten it again it will probably slip again. they totally deflated me today. what causes this..
