Can we talk about clothing???

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

If I didn't have my excess tummy skin, I would be able to wear 16s right now...As it is, because of the excess skin, I'm more like a 20..possibly an 18...But tonight I put on a pair of fat suckeriners and it made a world of difference... I tried on my 18s that I normally have a huge muffin top on top of when I wear them.....and they looked phenomenal and felt terrific.

BUT...the fatty suckeriners were showing above the pants because the waist of the pants was lower rise...not low rise, but like a mid rise.

So, if I pull the fatty suckeriners down, I'll regrow my muffin top...but if I keep it up, and my shirt and pants happen to separate, everyone will know I am wearing compression clothing.

What would you do? In a few ways, it was easier when I was ginormous...I didn't care.

Thanks!

Rain

That's the trouble with current fashion, isnt it? Even thin people have muffin tops in lower rise pants. If you can match your fatty suckeriners with your top, or at least make them black, perhaps people wont guess? They'll just assume its a camisole?

Myself - even my 20 year old university pals display some pretty impressive muffin tops, I figure mine is modest by comparison. So I wear it with pride. But I draw the line at visible bum crack.

I'm looking into plastic surgery to be able to avoid it altogether!! I'm over having to hide it under flowing looser tops and high waisted pants.

If it weren't for my tummy, i'd be in a US size 6, maybe a 4 at a squeeze in some stores. THATS frustrating.

Without my excess tummy I could easily go down a full size. I'm in a lose 12 now but not quite ready for a 10. If I put on the suckerinner then I can wear the 10's w/o muffin top happening. If I buy something with a relaxed waist then I can fit into a 10 w/o the muffin top. I'm spending a fortune on clothes :rolleyes2:

My suckerinner goes all the way up to my bra. I just make sure I wear a slightly longer top when I put it on. I don't wear it every day.

Also, mine seems to be super grippy so nothing really slides around. On a day w/o it my shirt rides up when sitting at my desk - that doesn't happen when I have the suckerinner on :Dancing_chief:

I think I bought it too tight though - I've already gone down a size and it's still a bear to get into! I just want to breathe - is that too much to ask for? lol

I'd rather have someone see the suckeriner for a brief second than someone see my fat roll and/or my huge muffin top without it.

I'm in the same boat. I could probably go down 2 sizes in pants if it wasn't for my stomach. The legs and butt of my 18's are so baggy. It sucks!! I look like a lollipop from the side.

i use the ones from the Avenue. they have 2 strengths 'light' and OH MY GOD...

i use the OH MY GOD strength and they work wonders. not sure what the models are, but you can tell my just holding the 2 in your hands and trying to stretch it.

id rather someone see my sucker-inner than my fat too... that would just be so wrong on SO many levels...

I wear the Assets one from Target. It's made by the gal that created Spanx. Mine goes up to my bra. If I want to hide it, I wear a camisole over it and tuck the cami into my pants.

I don't know about anyone else, but it just amazes me how much I can change my stomach now - either by pulling it in (during exercise or breath holding) or by squishing it in (compression garment). When I started, I had a huge, firm, beach ball of a stomach that didn't move no matter what. It was an enormous obstacle for shoe tying, yoga, sitting up straight, whatever.

I'll take the smaller floppy stomach any day.)

Foofy - I have the same stomach!!

I haven't tried the assets from Target. What is their price range?

I bought the Spanx in the pantyhose section - they are $25-35 rather than the $50-80 of regular spanx. I still break a sweat getting into it so I think it still provides some good support. There's lots of hopping, tugging, stuffing, etc. I even have to get DH to grab the back and PULL!!!! Can you see why I don't wear it every day?

I live in Spanx. I have no choice. Without them I am an 8, with them a 6 or smaller. SOOOO it is so worth the pain in a$$ that they are! :frown:

I agree today's fashion sucks, who thought of those damn low rise stuff???

Nobody really wants to see that!

I too love Spanx, I have a small fortune invested in all types and colors. But I only wear them with skirts or dress pants to smooth things out. I can't get used to wearing them with my jeans. My low rise jeans hold me in and there is no need for the spanx. I don't get the muffin top look cause I had the tt and all the fat sucked out of the waist, lower back, upper back, well everywhere. I like my flat tummy and no back fat look.. Yippi, for Lipo and tummy tucks!!!!

Yay for the apple-shaped gals! Wombat - the Assetts are really not too expensive. I can't remember exactly, but I am going to say that the ones I bought at Target were either less than or veeeeery close to $20.

Personally, as an "apple" I love the lower cut jeans. The traditional "mom" jeans have waists that are 6 to 8 inches smaller than the hips. That is definately not me (maybe someday). If I get a pair that fits my waist, my butt and thighs are swimming in excess fabric. I'd rather wear low jeans with a longish shirt.

OMG we must be the same shape :frown:

What I wouldn't give to be proportionate. Thank God I am chesty so that does help even it out. I never had hips when I was younger. I have had two kids since then and well I have know idea what my hips will be like when I get to goal - maybe bigger I hope.

I hate the 'mom' jeans. I do like the low rise but I can't wear them tight or I get the muffin top. Even still I get a bit of baggy booty syndrome.

I may just have to learn how to love my Spanx. I keep wondering if I bought it too small - oh well; I'll shrink into it.

Booboo - you are amazing. You look fantastic :frown: Thank you for sharing your journey and continuing to be on here giving support and encouragement!

I love the svelt belt in body by nancy ganz. I wear that just about every day, because it doesn't seem to matter what bottoms I wear, I know have enough loose flabby tummy stuff that it makes my outline just look plain odd under my tops unless they are super thick and so forth.

I like the belt because its just a big round thing of spandex, no undie part and no boning. Thats better for me for daily wear. Its actually two belts. A smaller one in case I just want to compress that one flab bulge and I can put the two together for extra compression but normally I just wear the larger one for overall smoothing. It wasn't expensive either, only about 20 dollars online. I'm a 16 in jeans (a little snug but 18 is too large) and about a 20 on top. Now my bust is exactly the same circumference as my hips are, so I find it sort of funny that there is such a difference in sizes, but thats the way it is. My jeans, the jeans I adore and think are wonderful are Levis 529 Curvy Jeans. The back is cut higher than the front and they are flair/bootcut. They are built for people with hourglass sorts of curves. These jeans fit my ass! Its a miracle!! LOL. Normally that doesn't happen and in all honesty I really don't have a big butt, though I do have wider hips and a smaller waist compared to size standards. Thanks to the new directions of my workout I think my butt is shaping up nicely too, albeit its under some loose skin.

I too think the low rise pants are GROSS. From the back, if you look at people, the eye naturally falls on the band across the hips. It accentuates the hips and makes them look WAY bigger than they actually are. Not to mention the flab and gross stuff hanging over the "waist band". Many young girls have jelly belly along with it, and it's disgusting. It's not lady like, it makes you look WAY fatter. I would much rather have a pair of TAILORED high waisted pants that compliments your female shape, smoothes out the bumps, holds in the jiggly bits, accentuates your gentle curves and hides the negative uglies. Personally I'm sick to death at seeing peoples' stretch marks, dimples, bum cracks, folds and creases. The tiny, to small tops they wear with these pants definately don't help. YUCK!!! It's definately time for a fashion revolution.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
