Chuckles -

Seems like it's been a long 24 hrs! I reported to the hopsital at 8:00 and did a little paperwork. Then they took us right up to my room. At that point I changed into a gown and gave them a urine sample.

About 9:00 they took me into the holding room where I answered more questions, met with my Dr. and the anethesiologist. He started me on an IV and the next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. I was having a hard time catching my breath and couldn't speak at first, but it wasn't traumatic or anything. I was in the holding room for abot 45 mins and then I asked to be moved to my room (crying baby was hard to take).

So , by 11:30 ish I'm back in my room with family. I napped a little off and on and started the breathing exercies. By 2:00 I was up and walking (slowly) and they released me around 4:00.

Last night was not fun, I won't lie. But it's a new day and I'm hoping the healing will begin quickly. I do have a few questions that I'm going to check out here and I already understand what they mean about a steep learning curve. the first time I took my liquid Loritab it came right back up!

Thanks so much for your prayers !

Waking up was okay, the most pain that I felt was gas pain in my back between my shoulder blades, I have pain from the incisions but on a scale of 1-10 the pain from the incisions are a 5 or 6. I went into surgery a 8:30 a and they were finished by 11a and I was sent home the same day. I don't feel like I am ready to go back to work yet. Somone told me that they were at the mall the same day of surgery or the day after, I don't feel like leaving the house yet.

Hi dlollie, I can't imagine going to work or to the Mall. Just want to hide away in the house at the moment. Hope every thing goes well for you.

Hello Saleel22:

Glad to hear from you as well, I see are at home now. That is good, I think most people are more comfortable and are eager to get home after their surgery from what I gather reading on here. (Can't say I have experienced this yet myself, but I will someday!)

Anyway, sorry to hear you have a headache! I hope tomorrow goes better for you! All you January bandsters are in my thoughts and prayers!

Take care, hope to hear from you soon!

:)

dlollie,

Glad your pain isn't too bad. I guess a 5-6 could be worse! It seemed like it really doesn't take the surgeons very long at all to perform the operation unless they run into some sort of complication like a hiatal (spelling?) hernia. It seems most people on here report that they have went home the same day, unless their insurance required an overnight stay. I know, I have read some post where the people have went on and did the shopping the same day as their surgery. That is unbelievable to me! But that really is great.

So you are on your way as well! Good for you, You are going to do great! It is so exciting a new journey has started! Well, I hope the next few days get better, and you are relieved from the gas and shoulder pain!! Keep is updated when you can! Take care. :)

Hi fellow 16th bandsters! I hope everyone is doing well. I am doing well. Everything went smoothly. I didn't realize how much pain this gas pressure could cause. I've been walking around alot trying to release it. The nurse that discharged me said that if I'm feeling pain I might be over doing it but then they tell you to walk as much as you can. So I don't know if I'm hurting from doing to much or to little.

Nadean,

Good to hear from you! LOL that was funny. Hopefully there will be less hurting as each day comes. That what it kind of sounds like what happens to most people anyway. Take care!:)

I got banded on Jan 16th, and I'd be doing real well if it wasn't for this headache. Don't know if Tylenol Cold Head Congestion is acceptable to take but I just took two. Guess I'll really concentrate on taking in a bunch of fluids today.

I've got liquid tylenol and liquid hydrocodone but can't get anything to put a dent in this headache much. I haven't had any gas pains.

Hey chuckles,

Thanks for the encouragement, I know from going through this, I do not think that I could have handled the pain from a Rou en Y surgery. I really have to get my mind ready for the changes that are now taking place. I wish you a speedy recovery

At the end of day 3, I'm still running a fever, got a headache, wish I'd pass gas better, retaining fluids (barely peeing) although I've concentrated on drinking lots of fluids today, at one time the top of my stomach felt like it was going to explode, but other than all that I'm fine.

I never could have survived a bypass.

At the mall on the day of surgery! geez, no way for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
