Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

Hi girlies! How's everyone?? I've been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off these past few days.... Two weddings this past weekend. One Friday and one Saturday. Our business is really starting to pick up! Both brides were seriously laid back and very easy to work with so that was a major plus. When I do consultations with potential brides if I feel like they are going to be PITA's then I gently steer them away from our location. I do this because I love it and I don't want to have to start dreading this work. I had a consulation with this really sweet girl last week and then she called me and asked if she could come by with her older sister on Saturday as we were setting up for our other wedding. Well I met the older sister and decided that even if the bride was a sweet young thing that I wasn't going to be able to work with the pushy older sister. So I just flat out told her that I didn't think that we were what she was looking for... Am I mean?? I don't know how else to handle those situations... In my consultations I always make sure that I stress that this is a family run business, that we do this on the side, that we all have regular jobs, that this place is for low key, natural weddings... le sigh...

Laura!! So glad you're back girly! Too funny about the threesome. How did Russell react to that?? OMG juan would have died. He would have been hiding from that couple the rest of the trip. Too funny...

Michelle - glad to hear your sale went good! We're planning one for this weekend and I hope it's successful. I WANT MY GARAGE BACK. It's still full of stuff that didn't fit in my current home. We've been here for 1 year and still have stuff in boxes. Violets - after a move, how long before you got EVERY box opened and unpacked?? My aunt said that she finally opened her last box that was in her garage, 5 YEARS after a move... I don't feel so bad now, he he he...

Kat - How did things go with the ceiling painting? That's just shitty of them to do that. Did your hubby end up painting more ceilings?

Pamela - Spagetti (sp?) sounds so good. I haven't had it in about a year. I have lots of trouble with it. Not much stuff gives me trouble but that does... Who cooks more at home, you or Susanne??

TracyK - Tell Macy HAPPY BIRTHDAY for me!!

Jane - what was wrong with your A/C? Mine was acting up too but Juan adjusted the Freon level. It was about 10lbs lower than it should have been. Now we only have to add more insulation to our attic and we'll be set.

Violets Getway: Weekend of June 13th is not good for me. Juan's birthday is on the 14th and we've got a wedding scheduled for the 13th. Right now the weekend of the 23rd is clear and I can block it off and not schedule any weddings for that weekend if we decide.

I'm up for pretty much anything. RELAXATION is the key word though. Like most of us, I'm go go go during my daily life so when I can take a few days off I like to spend relaxing, catching up, chit chatting... I would love to go on a CRUISE! Any sea sick Violets opposed to this idea?? Oh and and I'm voting for it to be another spouse free get-away. I love my Violets and can get completely relaxed with ya'll because I talk to ya'll every day. I know that all of our partners and spouses know about all of us and what's going on it our lives but for me it would still be weird.

Okay, now I must tackle this huge load of invoices that I have sitting on my desk. FUN, not...

So it looks like the last weekend in June is working for everyone so far. If it is a cruise, dh is coming....if it just a land bound hen party, he can stay home :)

Haydee~ I do all the cooking. She makes Goulash but all the rest is me. I make spaghetti all the time (her fav), but I just make a really meaty sauce and don't have Pasta. When my band was open I would have a SMALL amount of whole wheat pasta, cut up, then lots of sauce. Now, it is just sauce. Steph sent us home leftovers, so I'll get some sauce today. I made it w/ ground beef and sausage...soooo yummy.

I think Steph and Bob are coming over tomorrow night for Tuesday Tacos and Pacifico beer (or margies). We are gonna wait and see how Susanne feels after her thing today.

OK...gotta boogie for real, lol...ya'll are like crack!

Works for me. And my only spa experience was in Arizona with a couple of girlfriends years ago----we loaded up 3 women, 7 kids, in 2 vans, and headed out! We went to Arizona where one of them had a sister, where we went to the spa thing---cost us a fortune! And that was supposedly with the sisters discount! From there we went to CA---did all the Sea World, Universal, Disney Land, San Diego Zoo, went over into Tijuana Mexico, then back through Vegas for a few days, around the Grand Canyon and home. Took 2 weeks, and one of our vans broke down 45 miles from home the last day!!! But the spa cost more than our rooms in CA at Disney!

Now this was 10 years ago--Manda was 16, she and her friend Laura who went with us, because all of my friends kids were younger. She and Laura babysit for them when we went anywhere to earn money to spend on our trip. They were so put out, they wanted Mexico to be the last stop next time, so they had more money to spend there!! They bought knock off Oakley sunglasses, and thought they were sooooo coooool!!! So did my son when they brought him home a pair!! Then he was all pouty he chose not to go---the idea of babysitting turned him off! LOL

These trips without kids, are so much quieter!!!

Terry is right that there are some beautiful places around Colorado Springs---normally it would not take long to get from DIA in Denver to the Springs, but on a Friday it would take probably a minimun of 2 hours. It is all interstate driving, but it is a mass exodus out of the city on Friday.

If you want mountains and quiet, even the area near me, in Durango would provide that---and have enough low key entertainment for a weekend. Something we might look into in either of the places would be ski resorts----the condo's they have often have huge hot tubs, and are rented much, MUCH cheaper through the summer months! I know our ski resort here advertises them but not sure on prices. They offer ski lift sight seeing, for picture ops of the mountains. And here they have an Alpine Slide going during the summer----a cemet bobsled slide. But the summer months are off season. Which is good for cost. Summer will be off season all over Colorado except Denver, which is never off season. They have every sport covered with a professional team---a Six Flags Park---it is just never off season!

In Colorado Springs, you CAN go to the north pole in June though!!! And we could all sit on Santa's lap (pooooooor Santa!) and tell him what we want for next Christmas!!

I have pictures of my DD, Abbey freaking out I mean her eyes are like saucers--as a reindeer nibbles at her bare belly under her dress!!! Fun memories!

Doing a load of laundry then I have to get myself ready to go to town and get some things done. I have to buy a rosebush to take across to my neighbor, her Father passed away. She come over a couple weeks ago, and was telling me she was planning a trip to Austin so her Dad and sister could meet the new baby. Next thing I knew she was gone, house was shut up tight. Come to find out the next day they called and her Mom woke up to find her 57 year old Dad in bed dead. He never got to see the new baby. So she has a yard full of roses, that she spends a lot of time with, so Rick and I thought we would do that, rather than a potted plant. So sad.....it was a heart attack they think.

Good reason for us to all get this weight off girls!

So far I have a bottle of Water in, and plan to go eat a bowl of Cereal when I finish this post.

Rick hung up my hammock swings----and I can sit in them!!! They have a weight limit of 225----but they looked kinda iffy---but I can do it!

Well I better get going, or I simply won't do it!!! LOL sad but true!!!

Morning V's!

June works for me, but can I suggest something like.. a beach? A beach with a bunch of girls would be a lot of fun.. and I'm still down with the cruise idea.

Happy B'day Macy!! (Little V in progress!)

Remember how I was in the hospital not too long ago with the false contraction things, and I ended up storming out? Well, it started again last night. Woke up in the middle of the night with severe cramping and painful diarhea. It was miserable, and I kept having nightmares to go with it..Russell said I woke up screaming NO! At some point.. I don't remember that one. But, since hospital was NO help and told me it had something to do with food poisoning, I am NOT going back. So I have taken immodium and pepto all morning.. if I don't move, I am fine.. if I walk, or bend, etc.. I am in a lot of pain. But, Russell said he's nauseated this morning, so I feel a little better.. it's not just me. I called my mom, since we had the cook out yesterday, apparently no one else is sick so she thinks we got something from Jamaica. I wouldn't be surprised, but I would have thought we'd be sick by food earlier than today! Luckily, we have to take our dog to the vet today so we're getting out of here early. I feel like I have a huge gas bubble stuck in my belly that causes my intestines to get displaced.

Yummy stuff??

the last week in June is good for me also!! The third week was Fathers Day so I wasn't sure about that! (Wasn't I the one who said I was the easiest one on dates???) I am up for anything.

Need to hop in shower going to hospital today to visit my best friends mom, then off to my investment club meeting.

Have a good one!!!

Jane

It was my freon level that froze everything up in my system. Don't you need a special thing to add freon? Not that I could do it anyways!! I was SOOO proud of myself yesterday because I fixed a cabinet door myself without any help or calling anyone!!

I am skipping a bunch but the last post was about the I-tit!!! ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

Ok.. so I'm back, we had a great time, but all hell has broken loose since then..... work a-hole was on a steamrolling Tracy bashing (as usual) never in 6 years have I been able to go on vacation without crappy emails to deal with upon my return... this woman has no life and I pitty her.. (this is the same one who had my boss ready to retire a couple weeks ago) anyway........ that is work.. and last night DH threatened to leave...... so when I didn't cry or beg him to stay.. he announced that after the boys went back to their moms he would fix the situation..... I told him to lower his voice, quit treating me as a child and that I wasn't divorcing him. he said I didn't have a choice and that $2500.00 was all he needed to fix that little problem..... anyway... I might be a little quiet, because he knows I come here daily.. I may destroy my bookmark at home... also I don't know who else could start reading me here.....

Basically things have been really bad.... and his sister and my parents even have noticed that he demeans me. His sister even told me that she could see that he was breaking me, and that I needed to toughen up... so I have made a personal resolve NOT to cry... this really sucks... I don't know what has changed so much since we got married but it has...... so anyway.. if this time next week comes and he really does leave.. then I will have to shut off cable, phone and the RR.....

I will survive, but it will be back to basics....... and then there is the ass at work...... please say a prayer of strength for me.

Oh and I was able to eat chicken Fried steak, and Pasta....... luckily the scale was back down to 180 this morning.... (was up to 186)

Oh we're going to Tunica this weekend too.. woohoo!

It's the trip my parents offered to pay us gambling money for helping them clean sister's house, and I also got a lot of free coupons from the casino's to play.. $800 worth. Love the things they send, and it seems everytime they send me coupons to play with, I always win on that money!!

And I should mention it, since I have bitched about Russell and his video games, I think I've told you how often we fight about it. The last time we fought about it (3 weeks-ish ago), he finally listened...I gave him an ultimatum, he wasn't meeting my needs and I'm very needy.. He has not played or scheduled his events, etc since then. He has only spent maybe 4 hours total a week on it, where it use to be every waking minute. Very happy about that.

One more post! June is good for me, but we need to get things decided soon so I can start paying for it. I am going to ABQ in May for a wedding and gotta get the bridesmaid dress, etc.. and then in July is our anniversary trip again.

And if things were a perfect world I plan to be preggers by time we go on our next trip, so I gotta keep that in mind. Course, in the real world I won't be able to get preggers!

Just did a little snooping in terms of vacation, and there is a cruise that leaves from Mobile Alabama Thursday June 25 and gets back into port Monday June 29. I know it is longer, the ship doesn't leave until 4:00. It is $389 for double occupancy. It is carnival Holiday. I have also heard that carnival is a party ship, so don't know but this is my 2 cents. I looked for an all inclusive trip in the states and could only find one and that was in Palm Springs Florida and was very expensive. I thought cruise ships were inclusive too, but guess not.

"Inclusive" is a weird term. Our Jamaica trip was "all inclusive" but we still spent $800 on things at the resort :)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
