Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

I'll have to look into that Wiifit in a couple months. Russell is getting the new IPhone for his b'day next month and we're going to Jamaica soon.. Kat, I'll let you know how the Jamaica all inclusive trip goes! Co-workers that went say it's awesome, so if it is, I'll give you my 1st hand account :cursing: I know we got a great deal through the travel agent.

My friend started with 3 foods, they said on her allergy test, she had no reaction to "Western Shrimp" (She still doesn't know what that means), chicken, and Sweet Potatoes. She had 'some' reaction, of varying degrees to everything else, so the past 2 months she has been 'testing' things daily to see what she can get away with. She e-mailed me this list today.. I found a Paleolithic (cave man) diet website, that has some recipes she could have, and more importantly they talk about substitutions when cooking, using basically coconut milk for a lot of things-- and that's one of the things she uses these days with no adverse reaction..But they do a lot of bananas and almonds..which she can't tolerate.

Here's her e-mail:

Ok..this is a list of what I can and cannot have, keep in mind if I can't have the item, say like garlic, I can't have anything associated with it, like garlic powder ect, also keep in mind this is just a short list, if it isnt on here I don't know one way or another without testing it first.

I cannot have any dairy what so ever (coconut milk does not apply, I can have that). No Seafood except Western Shrimp (not sure what the differene in Shrimps are though). I can have Pork, Beef and Chicken, eggs of any kind are a no go. I cannot have coffee Beans (Which means anything with coffee in it) or Sugar (that includes artificial sweeteners, usually they are derived from normal table sugar. I can however have things like Fructose and Stevia). I cannot have yeast, brewers nor bakers. Fruits are half and half, I cannot have Bananas, Pineapples, Blueberries, or Strawberries. I cannot have Almonds, Kidney Beans, Pinto Beans, Soy Beans (So that means I cannot have anything with soy in it), String Beans, Buckwheat, Corn, Lentil, Oats, Peas, Peanuts, White Rice (I assume because I cannot have wheat, brown rice is included in that), Sesame, Spelt, and Whole Wheat.

I can have Beef, Chicken, Pork, Cocoa Bean, Honey, Apple, Apricot, Cranberry, Red Grapes (But I seem to have an effect with them so I stay clear), Grapefruit, Lemon, Orange, Papaya, Peach, Pear, Plum, Raspberries, Amaranth Flour, Barely, Lima Beans, Coconut, Filberts (These are expensive as *a very hot place where different religions claim you will be punished*), Wheat Gliaden and Wheat Gluten, Pecans, Rye, Sunflower, Walnut, Asparagus, Avacado, Beet (euw), Cabbage, Black olives, Onions, Peppers, Sweet Potato, pumpkin and Spinach.

She had a reaction to peas or some bread she made this week, she had a reaction 2 days ago after eating chicken, bread, peas.. so she waits a few days, eats that item (with her other items she found safe) and waits to see what happens. Sounds miserable, and she seems really unhappy about all this.. so I'm trying to go through her 'safe' list and think of good ideas.

Kat-the divorce papers say we get a month in the summer but we never press the issue for 2 reasons #1 because they would not wanna stay that long anyway #2 They would have had to go in daycare c ause up until now we both worked. (and number 3, the youngest would have a stroke if he had to stay away from his mom that long).

Wow----UA's for kindergarten?? Times have changed for sure!!! All my kids had to do was be tested for color blindness, hearing, basic eyesight, they checked their spines for possible scoliosis, height and weight!!

Back from lunch with my folks---there are times I get soooooo upset with them!!! They wanted to take their little truck in and fill it up where the gas is cheaper, so I told them I would meet them at the restaurant. We did that just fine. In fact Mom called me as I was turning on the street to let me know they were there and had a table. Once we both got there, and waited and they were doing the same in another area!! So after lunch, they were going to fill the truck and meet me at Walmart, so I could show them this camping junk Rick wants for this weekend. They wanted to buy it for him and tell him happy early birthday---his is in a couple of weeks. Kinsey and I get to Walmart, and we did a couple things, and I figure they should be there, so I call them. No answer. I tried 10 times, no answer! I never did find them, finally bought my stuff and come home, only to have them call me and ask me how to make their cell phone stop beeping. I soooooooooooo wanted to SCREAM>>>>>>ANSWER THE DAMN THING!!!!!!!!!!! Being the loving DD I am, I said it rather than yell it!!! They are scared to death to use the phone---I have no idea why they even have it and told them so. She said they looked for me....well it is a Super Walmart, with a full grocery, in fact it is one of the 5 biggest Walmarts in the country---does she really think it is going to be that easy??? A simple phone call.....

So how goes the pool install Suzanne? Exciting!!!!!

Jane, when will you hear anything on your yummy Breakfast test???

TracyKS---sorry Mom is feeling so negative.....still praying for you!

TracyK---I understand about the visitation, but at least he has some bargaining power. She wants more $$$ with his new job, and you not working, then tell her to pack 'em up for the month!! See how she responds to that. You would not be asking for anything more than you are entitled to. Might make her think twice. I know we hold a lien on Rick's ex's house!!! We won a settlement she never paid, so our attorney put a lien on her house. We believe she has probably forgotten it. But we hold it, just for that purpose----bargaining power!!!

Terry, how is it feeling back at work? Does anyone there know what you did???

Michelle---I remember the empty house feeling! Find a good book----and veg out!

Laura, wow your friend has a really restrictive diet! I have friends who have the Wheat Gluten allergy and they have a difficult diet to follow as well. I cannot remember the name of the disease right now....of course!!!

Well I am going to take advantage of Kinsey sleeping, and get a few things done. I promised her we would play with the doll house when we got home, so when she wakes up---I will be on the floor acting like Dad, and all the characters she doesn't want. She tries being Dad, but cannot talk deep so I always get him!!! LOL

BBL~~

Pool is installed and about a few inches from being filled. We will finish that tomorrow. Still need to get the plumber here to hook up the heater, but the pool is ready to go. Wednesday we will take a Water sample to the store so they can get the right chemicals for us. Just need the sun to stay out for a couple of days to help warm it up.

Had a good day. Got back to drinking water again. I slacked off over the weekend. Did good on the food today, just need to work on the quality of food I'm eating.

Hope everyone did good today. Don't forget that tomorrow is CTCD. Start preparing yourselves now.

Have a great evening.

Suzie.. Hope your pool doesn't take as long to warm up as mine!! Water temp is 72 now, and air temp is supposed to get down to 53 tonight..BUT, supposed to get back into the 80's during the day for the rest of the week. Maybe by the end of the week I'll be swimming again.

Did really well on eating and drinking today. And did 42 minutes of Wii Fit. My Wiifit age today was 50 so that's kewl.

Tomorrow is hospital shift day and then I have a 1 p.m. rehearsal with my dulcimer/flute group. We're playing on the 23rd at a light house concert. Then I have New Day Singers reahearsal in the evening tomorrow. Ethan stayed until 4:30 today so I'm pooped. I'm doing some sewing for granddaughter Amelia and after that, I'm heading to bed. At least I can sleep in tomorrow morning.

PAMELA is back tomorrow!! Woooooooo hoooooooo!!

Everyone have a good night... sleep well.

I scrolled all the way down, and am still in the dark.......

Kinsey had some sort of allergic reaction, and her little mouth is full of sores. We are thinking it might be canteloupe----it does me the same way, and she had some. Poor thing was so miserable, I gave her some benadryl, and she conked out. Hope she feels better tomorrow!

I am off to bed early tonight. Will catch you all tomorrow.....

Night-night!

Kat

I heard someone once say that melons are from the ragweed family and that if you have problems with that stay away from melons, especially watermelon? Don't know if that has anything to do or not with her allergic reaction.

My barium swallow is just a formality for a fill I am sure. I go next Friday, and to say I need a fill is an understatement. I have not had any problems whatsoever with reflux since the unfill. I am sure that it is totally healed by now.

Some lady is coming to my house tomorrow to give me a new cpap. She said that since I have had my current one so long, I need to learn the new one. I hate people coming to my house that I don't know.

Susie, I am going to try to find a schedule of events for Mizzou so we don't meet while there is a game or parents weekend etc...

Anyone else want to meet us for a fun Sunday??

My nephew is in New Mexico at the Air Force Base near Albequrque (I think I spelled that wrong), he is doing personal development there for three weeks. Next year he goes for basic training somewhere. He is 19 and in ROTC. Wants to be a aeronautical engineer.

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight!!

Jane

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
