Up and at it early this morning. All ready have stipped the bed and doing the laundry. Thought about washing the pillows and hanging them out to dry but I think I will save that for another day.

I did really good on my drinking yesterday and I did very good with my eating untill I made chicken strips for dinner. I ended up eating 2 of them. One I just ate, the other I cut up and put on my salad. So in all I had about 1400 calories for the day. I'm happy with that. My biggest downfall right now is Wearther's and other little hard candies.< /span>

Warm here today and the humidity is supposed to rise thru the day. Tomorrow it's supposed to get Hot and Humid. Oh Boy.

Everyone have a great day. Don't forget it's CTCD.

Morning girlies!!

Terry - what have you been up to on your vacation time?? Tinkering with your beads?? I've got three weeks vacation that I need to use pretty quickly. No plans to go anywhere anytime soon though and i'm not really a homebody.

TracyK - my dad is healing great! He had me take out his stitches from his belly button yesterday. My mom was having a fit because he didn't want to go to the doctor to get that done. I didn't think it was a big deal. He's all healed up and the stitches knots were just sticking out. He's got the cutest belly button now!! Tiny!

Laura - that is so cool about your dad!! I think I missed it but is he in Vegas?

I got this interesting article forwarded to me today. I know we all know this but it's a good reminder...

How Protein Keeps Hunger at Bay

By JULIE STEENHUYSEN, Reuters

Posted: 2008-01-18 11:18:51

Filed Under: Health, Healthy Living, Diet & Fitness

CHICAGO - Diets high in protein may be the best way to keep hunger in check, U.S. researchers said in a study that offers insight into how diets work.

They found that protein does the best job at keeping a hunger hormone in check, while carbohydrates and fats may well deserve their current nasty reputation.

The study, which will appear in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, looked at the effectiveness of different nutrients at suppressing ghrelin, a hormone secreted by the stomach that stimulates appetite.

"Suppression of ghrelin is one of the ways that you lose your

appetite as you begin to eat and become sated," said Dr. David

Cummings of the University of Washington in Seattle, who worked on the study.

The researchers gave 16 people three different beverages, each with varying levels of carbohydrates, fats, and Proteins. They took blood samples before the first beverage, then every 20 minutes for six hours afterward, measuring ghrelin levels in each sample.

"The interesting findings were that fats suppress ghrelin quite

poorly," Cummings said in a telephone interview. They fared the

poorest overall.

"Proteins were the best suppressor of ghrelin in terms of the

combination of the depth and duration of suppression, " he

said. "That is truly satisfying because high proteins are essentially

common to almost all of the popular diets."

They also found that eating carbohydrates resulted in a strong

ghrelin suppression at first, but ghrelin levels rebounded with a

vengeance, rising to an even higher level.

Basically, the carbohydrates eventually made people even hungrier than before they had eaten.

Cummings said the findings may aid in future research on the

effectiveness of different diets.

And the study likely means that nightly bowl of ice cream is

out. "That is a bad idea no matter what," he said.

Haydee the surgeon I originally chose who is in Colorado went over all of this in the band seminar. He also told us about the nerves -2 of them in the upper part of the stomach that trigger the grehlin release, which is why he personally thinks placement of the band is so important. Not just that it is there, but that it is placed in a way to put pressure on those nerves.

When things changed insurance wise, and I spoke with him about Mexican surgeons that is one of the reasons he recommended Dr. Aceves, he said they are in the same school of thought regarding placement of the band. In the end I researched Dr. A, and found good things, spoke with former patients, and amazingly DID find a good number of them who said their hunger had been eliminated or at least reduced by far. And it happened the same with me---even with no fill, I am not hungry. My stomach does not growl, even if I forget to eat all day----I eat out of boredom and habit! I can tell if my stomach is empty, it feels like it is just that---empty---but I am not hungry.

They both harp on lean Proteins as well!!! And if it swims or flies even better they say! I thought it might be difficult working with 2 Dr.'s, and one of them anyway having the classic smug surgeon attitude (US)-but they are both always on the same page, and it works!!

My problem is snacking--I want to snack, and Protein is hard to snack on!!! I keep Jerky, and pepperoni crisps and cheese crisps when I take time to make them------but I cave in and eat other crap when I hit the snack urge! Anyone with any suggestions???

TracyKS----glad your Mom is out of surgery. I know it would be difficult to be faced with disfigurement, but in the end they are just boobs----not worth losing your life over. They explained the importance of the painful sort of mammogram they did on me following my cancer Dx, telling me, that breast cancer and other female organ cancers often run together, in a circular pattern. And being large breasted, the standard mammogram could not pick up the denser breast tissues, and further back under the arm area----remember I was about 250 pounds at the time. Rick and I discussed it of course---and our decision was cut 'em off! And Rick is a true breast man truth be told!! But I was lucky and they come back clear, but I would not have hesitated, I would have went with total mastectomy, and worried about possible reconstruction at a later date. Would I have been devastated and horrified at what had been done to me? Damn straight! But.....I would live to whine about it was our thought. And your Mom is alive to cry about the discrepency in size....she will adjust to that. I hope the masses they remove are benign, and all she has to worry about is padding one side of a bra. My prayers will continue for all of you.....it is a scary ordeal.

TracyK, how much change can your DH have in income before the CS is adjusted? Does she get copies of his W2? If so, you might consider seriously packing his 401K if possible, it will keep the income change from showing, and will still be $$$$ saved for you guys, that you can pull without penalty in the future to buy a home or for schooling. We put a full 25% in Ricks 401, just to keep it off of the W2. I mean he pays $757.02--for a child proven through DNA not to be his, that he never gets to see. Gotta love Colorado Courts---NOT! We do not want to pay more---we already pay the support and all medical insurance and not covered things. 22 more payments by the way and it is over! LOL

Suzanne---since we all guessed wrong---what IS the status on the pool? The one was the wrong size, are they going to work around and use it, or do you have to wait for the other to arrive?

I am off on a lone shopping trip today---I want to go and go quickly! I do not want to look at everything in the store, so Mom cannot go! I do not want to buckle and unbuckle a carseat all day so Kinsey is staying with her Daddy! I want to walk into a store, look at the shoes---specifically for some sort of brown flip flop style sandals---and leave if they do not have them---and hit the next store! LOL Wish me luck! I want them for Saturday! I know I should not have waited til the last minute.....

Better get it in gear!

Hugs~~

Kat

Good afternoon, Violets..

I've been checking all day and my computer kept saying page couldn't be displayed so I figured it was the same for everyone. Michelle.... thanks for letting me know the site was up and running. I went up to the Bobster's computer and it opened right up. Came back down here and it said page can't be displayed. I clicked on a link and wah lah, it opened up.

Well, at least I got some things done today. Made some chicken salad, planted some day lillies, did some laundry and got my teeth cleaned. It's amazing what you can do when you can't access the computer!!!

The Bobster just got home from some meetings so I'll go visit with him for awhile.

Catch ya later if my computer co-operates.

Kat-I do not think she does get his W2...why would she? I have never heard of an ex getting W2s of their former partner?! Now you have me worried! BUT...if she says she wants more, then we have some things up our sleeves as well....like amending the part where he pays the same amount until the youngest child turns 18.

Update on pool, We had decided that today after work that we were going back to the store and lay into them. I have had just about enough of their screwing with us. I was needing to get out of the house so decided to go to the grocery store. I had no sooner walked in when my phone rang and hubby was telling me that they showed up. I said, "Are you F*#king kidding me?" Yes they finally showed up. I won't even go out there I'm so mad at them. I don't want to hear anymore excuses. Hubby keeps going out and checking to make sure they are doing everything right. I'll keep you updated. Hopefully by Sunday we will swimming. I have to wait till the Water warms up.

Well, just so you won't feel too bad, Suzie. I was so anxious to go swimming in the pool today, but it stormed and rained and the Water temp went back to 78. I don't get in until it's 82. No sun, so no warm water.

Guess I'll have to get my exercise with the Wiifit again tonight. Can't go biking cause it's supposed to storm again. This summer has been just the worst for warm, dry weather, but just the best for all the flowers. I don't have to water them everyday.... the rain takes care of it.

I realize I don't have anything to gripe about. It's just that when you've worked so hard for so long and you finally part with some of that hard earn money and things don't go right, it's maddening. I still haven't gone outside. I'm afraid I might say something and now that they are working hard I don't want to give them a reason to stop.

It could be worse I keep telling myself.

Sure will be happy when everyone gets back here. I miss everyone.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
