One thing to keep in ind is that the Metamucil is absorbing the liquids and holding them in your gut. This is what it is supposed to do! And since a pint is a pound, every pint of Water in your gut adds a pound to the scale while in transit. Don't let the scale make you crazy. QUOTE]

OREA15, Thank you so much! I had no idea about the metamucil and holding the Water in. who knew. Thanks so much for letting me know. Must be it since I've been taking it for 3 days, and have noticed it in the scale.

Welcome Tulsa Realtor GB. We are both Mayobandidos.

I have noticed our weight loss is very similar since may. I am at 37lbs and stuck for the last three weeks. I sure hope to see some weight loss for our Friday weigh in this week.

Thanks to above (I forgot who it was) for the tip on "Align". I am having the same problem since the band. I never had a problem before, so it must be band, and new diet related.

Who's your doctor?

Good Journey

Maggie

Hi Maggie, Katsis is my doc. If you have him as well, it could be that he only does the fills every 6 weeks or 8 weeks and is in surgery the rest of the time. I think it was at least 8 weeks when I got my first fill, then the 2nd one (yesterday) was 12 weeks after the 1st (he thought I was losing at a good pace at 6 weeks). Unfortunately just after that I started eating over a cup full of food per meal though and that really slowed down the losing. It's nice to have other Okies on here. Maybe we could meet sometime.

Hi Rebecca, I have also noticed that we are at the same pace. I did start drinking more Protein though last week (instead of an evening snack of sugar free pudding with whipped cream) and lost another pound because of it I think. I think this new fill will help me again too.

I think I will put a new photo up later today because I think my face is thinner now. GB

I at about the same weight loss too. Also the Constipation thing is probably the change in eating. I now have MOM on hand when I need it. I also try and eat salad which helps a lot too. I always seem to have space for greens. I'm realizing it's not worth getting frustrated with slow weight loss because slow is better than nothing.

Phyl; Really, are you kidding or serious? Cause if you are serious and would go to Costa Rica that would be COOL to do it together...

You have 50 to lose I have 30 to lose and you are so much better at losing than me.... I'll look into costs o.k.?

Well, I'd have to do some serious negotiating with you know who, but yeah... look in to it!

I just did a trip to costco and stocked up on some new supplies for me. Costco had several coupons that I used. Docusate Sodium, Benefiber, Fiber Choice chewables, Citrucel. I've read enough stories of problems that I want to be sure that they don't happen to me.

I eat high fiber foods, nuts, seeds, mixed frozen berries, but the quantities are so small that I'm still not getting near the fiber I need, so I guess I'll have to stay with the fiber supplements. I'm still figuring out the right dosages and combinations. I also take probiotics.

I also bought the whey Protein isolate in a 6lb bag. I haven't read about this on the forums, so I hope I like it! I will need protein supplement, too, to get over 65g. I have tried the Premier Nutrition Protein Drinks, which I like. At least with Costco, I can return items easily. My bill was $185, high for me, and most of that was fiber supplements!

You have to be careful of many fibers after surgery because they expand and fill your pouch quickly and sometimes too much after surgery and after fills.

I went to Costa Rica two years ago and I'm not sure that's where I would want to go for plastic surgery. It's a beautiful country, but it wouldn't be a choice for health care.

I really like the Tijuana idea because it is accessible for many of us and I found their facility (at least the banding clinic) clean. Many people cross the border for medical care in Tijuana. Last time I went for a fill and was coming back I talked to a mother and her son while we were standing in line. The mom was there for medical reasons and she knew a couple other people in line that had stuff done in Tijuana too. This was regular health stuff, not just PS or WLS. I also found the people nice.

I won't be ready for PS for a couple of years, but I sure am interested in the process. I know my flap isn't going to go away and it's something I really want gone. Don't know about the rest of me....maybe some inner thighs and upper arms.....just don't know know.

Phyl, your pictures on FB were great. Looks like you ladies have a lot of fun.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
