Yes--BMI of 29.9

No one else really "gets" the excitement we have for each other. I Celebrate with each of you for your victories too!

I live in a place where many people go up North for the summer...snowbirds. They are starting to return and when they see me--or should I say 27% LESS of me--it's FUN!

One of the men came to a rehearsal after being away since April and when he saw me, he said, "Where's the REST of our director??" (I am directing a play....have acted for 20 years...blah, blah, blah.)

hugs

What does your dr. say? I know post op walking is important but beyond that, better follow dr's orders as they all seem to vary.

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been so long since I was here. I have been doing ok but got a fill a few weeks ago, and it was way too tight. I could not eat and ended going back and having two unfills which took me back to where I was before the fill. I do not mind though. At least I can eat. I dropped some pounds while I could not eat and I am hoping not to gain any of it back since I can eat now. I still have to eat small amounts and that is great! How is everyone doing? I feel its been so very long since I posted. Janet, how the heck are you doing? Sounds like you are doing well. I am glad to be back posting again. I have been so busy at work lately that I am just exhausted. I am so glad to see all the people that have joined our new spot since Janet started it. Good luck everyone. I won't be a stranger again. Brenda:wink_smile:

Hey Brenda !!

I'm with you about being too tight was that way for 1 week in January and NEVER again do I want to be that tight... Sounds like you may be at your sweet spot - I know a while ago I posted about fill being more physicolgical than physical - but for the life of me I can't find it...

Meaning that we think we can eat too much so we think we need a fill but once we do - we are too tight - I wish I could find that post - I have looked here and on my lucky #7 thread but can't find where it was discussed... I know that just have .02 added was enought to put me at my sweet spot. Fills are funny and fickled things...

I'm doing fine - can't complain - am on maintenance and am doing ok - going to film a commerical for my doc 10/1 - feel that's a great honor - and just got email from his office - someone who wants the band wants to talk to someone who has lost 100 lbs - so they are going to put her in contact with me...

Congrat on the lost pounds:thumbup: - 1 day at a time - they all add up...

Glad to have you back :cursing:

INDIGO GIRL... I thought you were refering to me as I am also Brenda and I had just recently posted this on another forum.

My copy paste isn't working....it was about me recently getting a fill and am too tight because I can only keep clear broth down.

Yes I remember 2 Brenda  you and Southern girl - well it must be something with the name :girl_hug: that you both were too tight :sneaky:

Glad to have you back posting here too - the over 50 crowd seems to be changing daily - Denise. Phyl and I are about the only old times left..

Love our new additions - but miss our old ones too - It seems like the same way on my lucky #7 thread - we have about 8 of us who still post regularily - heck when we started 30+ at least..

Hope you are doing better on your fill level - Hugs J

Got the post I just recently entered on fill forum:

I thought I'd let everyone know what can happen if you go too fast on solids after a fill.

I had a fill on Sept 16. I stayed on liquids that day and the end of the next. I was feeling so good that I ate some macarony & cheese late at night. One of my bedtime medicines seemed to burn or irritate a spot real low on my esphagus (because I had loaded up my pouch with food). The next day I PB'ed everything I ate. That spot on esphagus burns when food or Water touches it. For the last three days I can barely hold water down and I have medicine I need to take. Having a real hard time getting it down.

I figure it is stomach swelling is my problem and am going to ride this out. Clear Liquids now and Protein Drinks when I am able to hold the clear liquids down. broth is the only thing I can hold down.

I'm not going back to get an unfill. I will sweat out the clear liquid time and go slowly to Protein Drink.< /strong>

Hi Brenda,

I have been a little too tight a couple of times but this time was the worst so far. I got my fill on a Saturday. I took it until Wednesday and they got me in and took out half of what they had put in. I tried to make that work but I kept not being able to eat, only drink liquids. I was having regurgatation at night and not sleeping well at all. So I went in again and they took the rest of what they had put in that past Saturday. It feels so much better now and I can eat. I still can only eat a small amount but that is what I want. Hope you do well. If you are too tight, it's not worth it. Get them to take some out. Brenda B.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
