Just got home, 9+ hours in the car. Was pretty conservative on my intake today, lots of liquid... my daughter hated me saying I had to stop and go to the bthroom.....

I had over 1000 calories, both Sat and Sun. I know it is not excessive, but i have been staying around 900 calories. At least I burnbed up a fair amount, but am edgy to get out for my walk again on Tueday.:)

Tomorrow will be conservative with food intake, too. Was a great weekend and great to spend it with family for a joyous occasion..but now back to work!! :)

I have a question. I have been eating alot lately. Or should I say I feel like I have been eating alot. I am a Diabetic and more so this month I gain a pound and then I lose a pound. I have already had my first fill. I go back on June 2nd for my next one. Also I have been throwing up not on a continue basis. I am trying so hard to stay with the program. Should I call my dr. The nurse has said in the office when you throw up on a continious basis the band could have slipped. Has this happened to anyone.

BeverlyDiane, I just found out a friend of mine uses her baby fork at meals, she showed us at our group meeting, then she told us she also uses a sippy cup so she doesn't drink too fast, well, I am sorry, we all cracked up and had the best time laughing with her over it. We all use small restaruant side bowls for our meals and small plates but none of us had seen anyone use the tiny fork or a sippy cup. It is a great idea. She uses her fork when she goes out. I do use those long handled Ice tea spoons because they are so small and honestly my grandkids all live 1700 miles away and don't use special utensils anymore. I say if it helps, I'm game. So its off to buy a pickle fork. LOL

Sharon, I would definately call your Dr since you are diabetec, but have you been checking your glucos lately?? I ask because I had mild food poisoning last week and felt queezy all week long, since I had only been banded since march I called Dr to be sure I wasn't having symptoms of band complications. They didn't think I was, and I have had food poisoning before so I was pretty sure I was correct but, they did say I should chk my glucos because the extended queeziness could be due to a lack of Protein since I couldn't eat and a low glucos. I am borderline diabetec and have to keep a ck on mine. When I started cking I found I was very low,, so I made an extra effort to get more protein in (shakes, cheese) til my levels came up a little and I felt better. I am doing fine now. But since you said you are diabetec, I thought I would just pass this on. I hadn't been eating since I had been sick and it really dropped my glucos, I also had tingling fingers which is another sign for me. Good luck

Hi Brenda, I am just too new at this whole thing so I don't have any advise other than listen to people like Phil and Janet who have great ideas for staying with the program. Best wishes to you! Becky

We'll it could be that you need to diary your food intake and exercise routine for about a week and look at what your doing now. Possibly your calories have increased, your portions may have increased or it may be that you have become to use to your routine and it it is time to change up what your doing. A new cardio routine, or longer bike ride, or more challenging ride, or more variety. Maybe you need more calories to go with your exercise routine. I would diary for a week, and look and see what you can change up start with one area at a time, and see if you notice any improvement, then possibly change something else. Keep the diary while you do this so you can track what may or may not be helping. I know for me if I don't change what I eat and how I exercise on a regular basis I get to use to the routine and everything slows down. I seem to thrive on change. Good luck. I will PM you this also. It's done! This past Monday I had surgery at 7:30 a.m. was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Went through surgery with flying colors. It took about 1/1/2 hours and I was in recovery for 1 hour. Very little pain and no up-chuckin. My only complaint is one hellashous headache. :cursing:I came home yesterday around 2p.m. and I laid down then all of a sudden I was freezing! My husband put three blankets on me and then I went to sleep for three hours. When I awoke I was weak and I still had a horrible headache. The doctor gave me liquid Lorri Tab but that didn't help at all, so I had my husband crush one of my Darvicets and I took it with some yogert (It was still very bitter). The Darvicet help

ed get rid of my headache, however, it keeps trying to come back. Anyone else with this same problem? If so, what did you do to get rid of the headache? If it wasn't for that I would be feeling pretty good right now. Your input would be greatly appreciated!:wink2:

Hi All,

My surgery is scheduled for July 11. I'm very excited and very nervous. I'm more nervous about having the IV put in than anything. I had Breast Cancer in 2005 and had a Bi-Lateral masetomy and 5 surgeries in 2006 trying to get reconstructed. All failed. I was also in the hospital the whole month of July last year (2 more surgeries) trying to get reconstructed. I had staff infection several times and had highh powered antibotics and my veins are destroyed. I had blood taken last week and they had to take it out of my hand because she couldn't find a vein in my arm. Needless to say, I'm afraid they'll breaking all the veins in my arms and hands like they did last year in the hospital.

Anyone else have problems with veins? I'm anxious to have the surgery done and start my journey to a thinner me.

I love this forum and lhave learned so much from all the posts.

Waynette

Hi Waynette--I can offer you no advice about the IV, but I just want to give you a big hug! You have survived so much and you deserve to have some big success with the band. You sound like one strong woman!

I had surgery 8 days ago and so far, so good! I want to hear the same back from you on July 19!

sherilyn: My guess is that the headaches are from Anastesia [spelling] Contact your surgeon and see what he says to do for it.

My veins are gone too... They thought they were going to have to put in a central line for me. Instead,,,, they brought in a specialist who IVs babys. Not a problem at all. [THERE IS ALWAYS ONE FLOATING AROUND IN A HOSPITAL!] Keep that in mind if you want.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
