getting food stuck....

Recommended Posts

I'm getting food stuck on a regular basis now. Everyday for a week I have gotten my food stuck. Anytime I try to eat anything solid, it gets stuck in my chest and I end up throwing it up just to feel better. What is going on with this? Is it normal? I was banded November 26. I was having some problems with my ribs hurting really bad and they completley drained my band. They took out 3ccs. I'm supossed to go to the dr. on Monday for a fill. But I don't understand whats going on. I used to be able to eat about anything as long as I chewed it well and took small bites. I'm scared it might be slipped. I can eat Soup, mashed potatos, pudding etc.... Can someone please help me out here? Anyone else had this experience and if so what did you do? Thank you. I will be waiting to hear from someone!!!!

Please call your doctor and let them know exactly what is going on! Don't wait until your next appointment. It sounded as if your band might be too tight, but you said they removed the Fluid, so you do need to let them know ahead of time what is going on in case its something more serious.

If you can eat mushies you are probably okay. Are you losing on mushies? How is your hunger? The same thing happened to me recently. I was a tad bit too tight and it was hard to get in real Protein. I had .5 taken out then I was starving. Just had .3 put back in yesterday and now I am perfect, no hunger. Most likely you need a small tweak. I would go down .2 or .3. Good luck.

OK...this happened to me. I got some food REALLY stuck and it made my stomach sore or swollen. So, when I tried eating more the problem got worse just like you describe. I did liquids only for 2 days and gave my belly a chance to calm down and then I was fine again. You might have just gotten yourself all swollen and need to take a break. I know that's what happened to me because the stuck food incident was very violent and rough. If you don't remember a "big" incident then this might not be your problem.

I understand from my doctor that if you are getting stuck and can't keep anything down, you need an unfill. You may have too much restriction.

I had my surgery on October 19, 2009 and as of today, I lost a total of 37lbs. I had a fill (Jan 14, 2010) just a tiny bit the doctor said to see how I would handle it. Everything was going great, but on Valentine's day I ate some lobster and ever since, I feel as if I have something lodge inside my throat. I can eat and drink but, I no longer burp or feel the food going down slowly as I used to. I tried forcing myself to vomit, to no avail. The filling was removed this past Thursday and if nothing is changed, I will have an endoscopy on Monday.

Also, given that I am allergic to the "real" lobster meat, I am told the tightness in my throat and trouble swallowing could be due to a swollen esophagus.

I am worried... I am very happy with my band and I would not want to have it removed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
