TMI BM Stuff

I'm three years out and am STRUGGLING to have normal BMs. Early on due to iron supplements I had to incorporate stool softeners. They did the trick no issue. Now all of a sudden it just seems to not work for me and I'm struggling. Anyone add in fiber supplements or something similar? I drink coffee and eat kiwi and it makes no difference. HELP I need ideas

Needing Fibre suppliments is pretty common post surgery. the recommended 25-30gm of fibre per day is hard to acheive with reduced stomach capacity and protein focus!

Psyillium husks, 1 tablespoon incorporated into a meal.. great along with chia seeds on top of some greek yoghurt and berries.

I have been obsessed with home made seed crackers lately. Having the best BMs of my life right now! They might work for you too.

Plenty of recipes online, search flaxseed crackers.

My recipe is basically

1 cup Flaxseeds (soaked in 2 cups water until the gel forms.)

to which I add..

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup pepitas (pumpkin seeds)

1/4 cup chia seeds

1/4 cup sesame seeds (optional)

sea salt flakes

Red pepper flakes

Onion + garlic powder to taste (or any herbs spice combo you like)

Mix, spread thin and bake on low until golden and dry, flip the ensure thoroughly dried. Completely cool before.. breaking (or if you've remembered to prescore before baking 😂) snap into crackers, store in air tight container.

A few dates every day do it for me. They help with a sugar craving too.

I have chronic constipation and lately I have been going every day. Feels super strange to go as I've suffered since small child. I have added daily magnesium supplements and MCT oil to my protein shakes, I also switches my multivitamin to a probiotic multi that helps with my gut health overall by pro care.

I also do the 1 tablespoon of psyllium husk

So happy to see you have some improvement. Its miserable when it gets really bad. Try and keep on top of things and you will be fine.

Do you have the ability to see a gastroenterologist? Thats where I would start (after seeing your Bariatric team)

Update.. I ended up in the hospital in HORRIBLE pain. Cat scan showed my intestines folding into itself like a telescope. Going for surgery July 9th to correct a hernia and "whirlpool swirling" of my bowels. Thankfully the pain went away when I was admitted into the hospital. Surgery was put to the back burner then because of another unrelated health concern had to come first. This could have contributed to my issues awhile back.

I hope your surgery went well 💗
