I am shy of 2 months post op and down some weight, and with that we are now moving into the realm of needing new undies..

Just upfront, I am women (she\her pronouns) so this may not hit the same way for the fellas, but I am sure others are struggling.. that said...

What has been your strategy? I don't want to spend a huge amount on good compression undies, or fancy because I am hoping to continue this weight loss trend. Any recommendations of brand you used along the way? Is there a brand you swear by? Bralettes are also something I am looking for... I am busty and of course hate underwires..

If you're at your goal or maintaining, what has been your favorite brand of compression garments if you wear any?

Right now I am pretty sure I could stand outside in my undies and set sail as soon as gust of wind came by..

I'm four-square in favor of undergarments. It's just the way I roll.

The only time I did compression garments is when I started running after loosing give or take 400 pounds. Can't have all that skin going one way when I want to go another. Otherwise, I didn't bother. Since the Tummy-tuck even less need to bother.

Let's see, at goal I still just wear what is comfortable, but with a risqué piece here and there. Comfortable pre-op had far fewer choices for different needs than now. I like now better.

Oh, I'm a guy. Pronouns are whatever, you'd be surprised the variety that I hear.

Good luck,

Tek

I bought so many knickers & bras as I lost weight cause of the sizes I dropped through. Baggy knickers & saggy bras are the worst. Buy the bare minimum. Who cares if you’re washing every couple of days. I did get properly fitted for bras on the way because of back pain - bras that fitted & back pain went. (I’m larger too & also need cups wider than many make.). I also bought Bonds/Hanes bralettes for around the house. They’re cheap & I can get them from the supermarket here in Australia. I went to Target for knickers. I didn’t/don’t wear any compression underwear so I can’t help you with that.

I donated my proper bras as I dropped sizes. Couldn’t with my knickers though.

All the best with your continued weight loss.

I never go out in public without a shaping cami. I lost 200 pounds, so I have quite a bit of sagging to contain. I swear by Maidenform Flexees because they are reasonably priced, comfortable, and effective. They are long enough to cover my whole belly, firm enough to hold in the excess skin, but not uncomfortably tight. Here are the ones I wear:

For bras, I like Warner wire-free. I used to be a busty lady, but not so much after losing 200 pounds. I actually went to a lingerie store to get a bra fitting, and it was super frustrating because none of the bras they recommended did anything for my deflated chest. I left without buying anything because the Warner bra I wore into the store was better than anything I tried on. I also hate underwires, and these Warner bras are very comfortable while also providing shape and support (also very reasonably priced):

I've stuck to buying underwired bras - two at a time and only when the current bras were clearly ridiculously large - as I lost weight. I tried to buy reasonably cheap versions - sometimes that worked out and sometimes it didn't! I'm at goal now (regaining a little if anything) and buying 'forever' underwear, LOL. I've never needed anything officially compression but I know others prefer that. I don't mind a bit of saggy skin underneath my underwear. Nobody sees it!

I buy 6pk Hanes at Walmart and they are inexpensive. So, outgrowing them is not a problem to replace while I'm dropping sizes.

Hanes Women's Cotton Bikini Underwear, 6-Pack - Walmart.com

Bras are a bit harder to fit into...literally. I buy at thrift shops and will, until my weight stabilizes. I buy stretchy full cups and use bra extenders when needed. Sometimes the cup is right, but the smaller band sizes don't fit around me. I'm able to wear for longer periods of time using the extenders. I am now wearing a couple bras I bought a couple months ago. No longer spilling out of them and no longer needing the extenders.

I'm having a harder time with pant sizes. I tried on jeans today I couldn't fit into a few weeks back. I guess I waited too long because now they are too big to even wear so they went into the donate pile. Makes me super happy :)

I've decided to do the bras 2 at a time. I recently went through a whole process to get a correctly fitted bra and discovered I was wearing something 5-6 cup sizes too small. 🤣 I didn't realize my boobs naturally want to sit up so high! I'm very busty and cheap bras don't work, so I've bought nice ones and figure at the rate I'm losing (a band size a month) they'll still look nice enough to resell once I'm done with them.

Underwear--I go and feel up the underwear in Walmart until I find a pack I can tolerate the sensation of. LOL

Be careful with compression garments. Focus on making sure they are comfortable. Our designer intestines don't like being compressed and I was warned against tightly fitting compression garments causing intestinal issues. So I just wear the ones that are smoothing but still comfortable and allow free range of motion.

The empty upper slope of our breasts is so difficult to do something with. Add in the little bit of loose skin I have there as well it’s limiting. I actually stuff my proper bras with a tissue or two to fill out the excess fabric in the top. Crazy to think stuffing my bra was something I never ever had to do but now … I even looked at prosthetics but they’re not right shape. Can’t believe no one has developed something yet because many women have the same problem after breast feeding, Not everyone wants to get implants or have a reduction.

I'm on a bra fitting FB group and this complaint gets posted ALL THE TIME!! Usually by post nursing moms and weight loss patients. I too am really surprised no one has targeted this market with a cutlet thing that helps fill in that space and can be transferred from bra to bra! The prosthetics don't work because they are for a totally different breast issue. And push up bras can only do so much and sometimes make it look worse!!

All low cut bras are out for me. All this wrinkling skin on show (more than I actually have too). It’s full cup & only full cup for me. Don't get me started on moulded strapless. OMG I can put half a fist in the top of them. Than goodness I found a bandeau strapless that went to an E cup. Not perfect but better than anything else I tried.

I looked at your suggestions using the links, people are now saying these are Chinese knockoffs that are just stretchy tank tops... I'm not sure when you purchased yours. I'm going to try Maiden forms actual website since they look like a good suggestion..just not from Amazon (which unfortunately is becoming more and more difficult to find real original brands on their site - I wish they'd do something about it!). Just an FYI.

Yikes… Unfortunately, you have to be careful when purchasing on Amazon, especially when different sizes or colors could be from different sellers. I have purchased both of these items multiple times (the first most recently in October 2023, the second in June 2023) and have never had that problem, but thanks for the heads up for anyone considering ordering.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
