Constipation…HELP

Recommended Posts

I take Just Better Fiber daily and have since very shortly after surgery. Its the only thing that has worked for me consistently. If you're not getting any relief from OTC meds, you may want to reach out to your doctor for something stronger.

I had stool softener from the Dr that worked ...then I switched to OTC medicine

beyond that, maybe a large coffee and Breakfast sandwich from Dunkin? 😂. Kidding, that was the old days.

Constipation basically went away for me by month 6, but I'm still irregular . Hang in there. Natural remedies: reduce cheese and up prune juice....

Is this a new problem? or have you always had issues? if it's a new problem try a suppository laxative.

I am someone who has long struggled with Constipation and I have finally in the last month found what works for I take 290mcg of Linzess in the morning and 1cap full of Polyethylene Glycol 3350 (Miralax) at night before bed. I also drink a lot of Water. And if I start to feel bad again I eat cherries and watermelon and that does the trick.

I had the same problem this morning...pretty backed up. Bought colace to start tomorrow. My friend used ducolax every morning and she hasn't had an issue since.

very common problem. For some of us, it goes away once we start eating more normal food (i.e., since some of it contains fiber). For others, it's a chronic problem. I still deal with it at over eight years out. First you need to get rid of the current "blockage". You have some good suggestions from the posters above on what to try. After that, take preventative measures to keep it from happening again, People use various OTC meds to keep on top of it - Miralax (I take a capful every morning), stool softeners (like Solace), prunes or prune juice, Smooth Move tea, magnesium tablets, etc. Just figure out what works for you...

Milk of Magnesia should get you going within a few hours. Then, I do a half cap of miralax, a stool softener, and fiber every day to keep things moving. I have found that if I don't, I will go back to being constipated. It's such a delicate balance for me. Fiber and hydration are definitely your friends if you want to keep things natural. But, for some, that's just not enough.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
