September 2023 Surgery buddies

  • Popular Post

Hello all,

I was posting on the "September surgery buddies" topic and somehow it seemed to get blended with the September topic from past years and so I figured why not just start a new one for us. I'm scheduled for what my surgeon calls a Duodenal Switch Loop September 19, 2023.

  • Hello, great idea. There is a previous thread labeled September also for Sept 2023 surgeries but this may be easier to search due to 2023 being in the title. I'll be having the gastric bypass on the 2

Scheduled for a DS on September 11. Counting down the days and running through the gambit of emotions. I didn't come into my surgery prep thinking that I'd be getting a WLS from the surgeon in an effo

Hey 9/25’ers! How are you all doing? My RNY went smoothly. I credit my telling the surgeon to have a boring procedure for it going so well :-P. Still in hospital now, 3 PM da after. Just gotta get my BP down again and my liquid intake up. Looking forward to going home but will miss the access to the good pain meds. Haha.

Hey fellow 9/25ers. Also still in the hospital as my liquid intake wasn’t where they wanted. I’m supposed to be discharged this morning after a pretty successful evening/night. This gas and drinking pain has been no joke. Surgeon said surgery was textbook. No suprises. Looking forward to a gradual improvement. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Well I had my sleeve yesterday. The camera/equipment for the laparoscopy nicked and artery and the had to open me up. I have an incision from bra line to panty line. Wow!

OMG! They never told me that was even a possibility if there was a problem. I can't imagine waking up expecting 6 tiny holes and instead finding the small holes and the large incision site. That's just nuts. Glad you're ok though! Hope your healing goes swiftly and as painless as possible. Much love!

Waterchick I had my surgery on 9/26 too and I am so sorry you went through that. I’m glad you made it out on the other side. How are you feeling today?

Had my Surgery on 09/26/2023 surgery went great hardly any pain. Was discharged on 09/27/2023 had to go to the ER on 09/28/2023 because my hand that they put the IV in had swollen up because they irritated the veins so it gave me Superficial Thrombophlebitis my doctors office wanted to have an ultrasound done to make sure it was not a blood clot and thank god it was not they gave me a prescription for Motrin which I told them I could not take. They told me to just put a cold or hot compress on it and it should go down in a few days but other than that I am just trying to get my liquids in.

Hi everyone. My name's Ryan and I'm from the United Kingdom and I had my gastric sleeve on September 25th - I was initially due to have a gastric bypass but once I was under, they realised it wasn't safe to perform that on me so I was switched to the sleeve. I hope to meet people in a similar circumstance to share our journeys with. ?

It's my first day of purees. I just blitzed 4 mini Italian style meatballs with 1/4 cup of tomato basil past sauce and 1/6 cup of shredded skim mozzarella, and it's entirely possible that it was the best thing I've ever eaten in my life.

220 cal, 13g protein, 15g fat, 8g carbs

I had my procedure on 9/29/23. It went well. I stayed 2 nites because I couldn't get the liquids in. I am struggling a lil bit to get liquids in now that im home. However I can be creative with my liquids compared to in the hospital. Im optimistic I can do this. Just throwing my vanilla protein shake in the blender for 30 seconds gives it a different taste! I'm happy we are all here and I know we can do this!!

I had surgery on 19th sept. Just about to start puree stage. I'm still having pain on my right side around my scar area but it feels more muscle/internal pain sometimes shooting/stabbing pain. Is this normal and will it ease with time?

Hello all, had bypass surgery on 09/13/23. It’s been up and down. Struggling to get this protein and my liquids in. So working on that. I think what is getting me the most is my anxiety and the feeling of impending doom. Anyone else struggle with anxiety and our new baby belly?

I'm really struggling with my fluids too, which is causing most of my anxiety. Well, that and my husband trying to feed me whatever random crap he's eating. He's so upset that this was the only way to fix my stomach issues because now I won't be a "happy fat kid" with him. Told him I could still eat! And I'll still be fat for a long time. I am about to start venturing back into the kitchen now that restrictions are getting more flexible and my kids are tired of stepdad making dinner every night. They miss Mom's cooking. Although my cooking is what got me into this mess, I'll be trying new things now, and we'll be having more veggies for sure.

I can't get the timing down either or completely used to eating without a drink...

And I can't seem to get my water cold enough to be satisfying!
