  1. Not knowing my size when I go shopping Picking things way too big for my current body Thinking I'm going to stay the same size long enough to buy something on the pricier side without regretting it I'm still actively losing at only 3 months out and my body has already changed drastically, while some of the changes excite me some are making me even more self-conscious than when I was at my heaviest. Body dysmorphia is real.

    Food Before and After Photos

that looks drool worthy!!!!! I've gotta figure out how I'm going to modify all my baking! I get dumping syndrome with too much sugar or fat... and I cook with a lot of butter generally so this is a huge shift for me. But that's pretty!!
  3. GOOD LUCK AND SPEEDY HEALING!!!! I had the fundoplication back in 2005, it failed and created a ton of scartissue and other issues, the major hernia with the portion of my stomach that was originally under the wrap herniating into my chest because the fundoplication has been slowly moving down for the last two years, making the gerd unbearable and having bouts of cyclical vomiting that didn't stop without hospital intervention. They offered to do the RNY at the time and I was 170lbs so I didn't think it was a good idea and I passed. Man..... if I would have known....

Total Ounces 5.5 divided into the number of grams of protein at 21 is 3.81g per ounce, so you ate about 7.5g

I'm really struggling with my fluids too, which is causing most of my anxiety. Well, that and my husband trying to feed me whatever random crap he's eating. He's so upset that this was the only way to fix my stomach issues because now I won't be a "happy fat kid" with him. Told him I could still eat! And I'll still be fat for a long time. I am about to start venturing back into the kitchen now that restrictions are getting more flexible and my kids are tired of stepdad making dinner every night. They miss Mom's cooking. Although my cooking is what got me into this mess, I'll be trying new things now, and we'll be having more veggies for sure. I can't get the timing down either or completely used to eating without a drink... And I can't seem to get my water cold enough to be satisfying!
  9. You should be proud and you have the right to do a little bragging too! That is an AWESOME ACCOMPLISHMENT!! Your hard work and dedication to your plan make you equally awesome. Thanks for being an inspiration to us!!!
  10. My psych didn't seem concerned about any of my meds after surgery. Just that I took them. He had to switch my wellbutrin to immediate release but that was the only change he made to my medications. My mood stabilizer is supposed to be taken with food to be absorbed properly and I don't manage that very well and it's apparent. 2.5 weeks out from my surgery and my husband is already ready to divorce me because of my mood fluctuations and grumpusness.
  11. From my first appointment until I found a surgeon that would be willing to do mine because of the failing Nissen fundoplication that needed to be broken the rest of the way down before proceeding with anything. It took me 2 years to find a surgeon that would do it and that I could bear. Had a surgeon who would do it about 45 minutes away but the way he talked to me on my 1st appointment with him turned me completely off to him and his clinic. I had to travel 5 hours away to get to The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. They initially set up my appointment with a gastro doc because I'm having gastro issues but once he realized what the issues really were and that they were surgical he walked me to the front desk and we made an appointment with the surgeon that day. It was about 4 months between my initial appointment with the surgeon and my surgery date. Insurance didn't approve my Monday procedure until 4:45 p.m. on the Friday before so it was almost rescheduled.

OMG! They never told me that was even a possibility if there was a problem. I can't imagine waking up expecting 6 tiny holes and instead finding the small holes and the large incision site. That's just nuts. Glad you're ok though! Hope your healing goes swiftly and as painless as possible. Much love!

    Do you have a piercing?

tragus piercings look so great but they're almost impossible to change jewelry yourself because of the angle. And then one of mine was crooked that made it even worse. So I took mine out

    Do you have a piercing?

I have several piercings and tattoos. I guess I just like needles haha. Nose, ears, daith, and nipples are the only thing I ever wear jewelry in. Once in a bluemoon I put something in my eyebrow just to see if it's closed yet...it hasn't. Right now I have plastic in all of mine still, except for my nose, from surgery since you'll have to take out any metal piercings for procedures and MRIs. My piercer doesn't charge for retainer pieces as long as she is the one that does the jewelry change. Most piercers will charge a nominal fee for a jewelry change (Most I've ever paid is $10 and that was because they had to use a taper on my daith) Once they're all fully healed jewelry changes yourself aren't too bad. Nostril takes between 6-12 months to fully heal, cartilage piercings. I have entirely too many holes in my ear to count and some keloids from trying to save a piercing I wasn't meant for.

    Pain after surgery?

I had a lot of scar tissue and some other issues that were being corrected at the same time so I have had a rough time with managing pain since the surgery. I had surgery on the 11th, and on the 12th I ripped internal stitches so yay for superglue. The only thing that has saved me is wearing the binder near constantly. But I also have a VERY low pain tolerance and take norco daily for a nonhealing back injury. So they sent me home with oxy and a muscle relaxer. I had to get the muscle relaxer refilled and am currently trying to make do on the pain meds I normally take. So far so good and I'm back at the office today. Planning on working both jobs today so we'll see how tonight goes at the bar. Luckily hubby said he'd stick around after he sets up my speakers and see how I'm feeling and if I need him to emcee instead.

Had my RNY & hernia repair done on Monday the 11th. After Friday's scramble and near cancellation of my surgery because insurance hadn't answered the prior authorization and wouldn't escalate it. Ended up getting approved at 4:45 EST, they were literally in the process of rescheduling everything for me before canceling everything out when they finally got the call saying it was approved. I think that was the most stressful day of the whole process. I ripped some of the internal sutures trying to get out of bed to go to the bathroom the first night I was inpatient so that was not a happy time. Still a lot of incisional pain and pain around where the muscle was pinched and torn. But the Dr. was happy with the results and once I put on a binder I was able to move a lot more comfortably. Especially since it helped with the feeling of gravity pulling at incision sites when it was wrapped tight enough. Still having some gas issues have a bubble in my upper chest it feels like and it just isn't budging. And the gas coming out, lord help me. Lord help my husband. I'm not ladylike at all ever but even now farting is embarrassingly loud and obnoxious. And it's OFTEN! I was supposed to be allowed to leave on Tuesday but with the suture issue and not being able to manage my pain effectively, they kept me an extra day which greatly threw off our game plan. But we made it home late Wednesday night after a 5-hour drive home from the hospital and I've been doing a little better each day. I can't go too long without wearing the binder or else standing begins to pull and hurt too much. Showering is about the only time it's off, I've been alternating between the one I asked for at the hospital and the one I bought off Amazon and left at home when I packed my post-op bag. While the one I got off Amazon is soft and stretchy, it's neoprene or something like it so it gets HOT! The one the hospital gave me is pretty much all elastic banding and I prefer it over the one I bought because it also covers more of my abdomen heightwise so it feels like it stays in place a little better. And you'll KNOW if it shifts when you move. I'm trying to get myself back into the swing of things though and trying to get caught up on everything I missed last week while I was tuned out. Today is the first day I have actually gotten online and done more than just buy something I needed at the moment on Amazon. Today is also the first day I didn't wake up hating myself for putting myself through it. I knew it was going to be rough and I knew it was going to hurt, but even in all my overthinking, I didn't think I'd hurt as badly as I did. Don't hesitate to ask for pain meds and go to oral meds as soon as they'll let you while you're there if you want to get out of the hospital with a quickness.

Hi Babs! I'm an introvert up for adoption. Shoot me a message anytime! We are a house of gamers and I worship the old Gods. I am not going to lie. My husband went out for work and I was left home alone on Friday and my stupid a$$ hits my weed pen. I thought I was going to die. I smoke everyday and only quit 2 days before the surgery because dr said I had to. (He says I need to stay quit but it's one of the only things that helps with some nerve pain I have in my shoulder) Coughing HURTS AFTER SURGERY!!!!

Oh I had a PARADE of foods...Everynight for the the week leading up to surgery I cooked my heavy dishes that I know I won't be able to eat after surgery and went to all our favorite restaurants. My final meal was a burrito bowl from Hot Head Burrito and it was amazing. This liquid diet is not so amazing. So nervous!!! So excited!!!!

On my 4th day of the liquid diet, it's getting easier not to want to devour everything within reach. Tired of sweets though had to go get some bone broth to break up the monotony. I just got my proteins I ordered from here today so yay for some variety. Must say that the Bariatric Pal Chocolate Coconut is so amazingly good (my lunch today). A little lighter on the protein side at 15 grams but it tastes like an almond joy sans the almonds. That sweet chocolate and coconut flavor. I just realized why it's so sweet. I didn't think to look at carb counts when I bought them I just said oooo that sounds good, got to have it, and clicked the buttons. I've lucked out as the girl who works in my office trying to put on weight will buy any of the proteins I don't like off of me so they're at least not going in the trash. My husband is going to want to shoot me when he sees this box of everything I bought last week from the website. It's a good thing we have separate bank accounts or else he'd have a fit at the amount of stuff I've bought prepping for this surgery. Meet my surgeon for a final pre-op appointment tomorrow as well as doing some labs and another appointment with the pre-op department at Mayo so will be in the car the majority of the day tomorrow. Not looking forward to that as often as I've got to go to the bathroom with all these fluids. May be a miserable trip, bad enough I'm having to make it alone. This is where I feel sorry for myself for being a loner and not having a friend I can drag along with me. So I'm open to making new friends! And hope all of our September's go amazingly! 11 Days!? The last few months have flown by and it's been a pretty amazing ride once I got placed with the right physicians.

It's an electrolyte drink powder. It's supposed to hydrate better because of the salts and electrolytes in it. Definitely an acquired taste, been trying to get used to it since they told me it was on my doctor's must-have list. If you're salt sensitive like I am it's like drinking seawater with some of the flavors but I'm super picky too so that probably doesn't help either.

Day 1 of the liquid diet for me too. So far I've forgotten my box of liquid IV and all my little water flavoring packets. I did stop and pick up a box of crystal light along with some sugar-free jello since I'm allowed to have that as well. I'm making due with some of the protein I bought for after surgery until I can get to Sams this afternoon and get premade shakes because my approved list for pre-op liquid diet is tiny. I'm supposed to drink two 8oz glasses of regular OJ everyday, and I drank the first one and yeah, that hit me like a lead balloon. I think I lost about 1/2 of the 22 lbs you were talking about earlier hahaha but serously! I hope everyone's getting excited. Counting down the days and praying they go as quickly as the last few weeks have gone. Just trying to figure out how I'm going to make it all work with no PTO to cover my surgery days. I only have 20 hours left and that won't cover much considering I have to go to Mayo this Friday for 3 appointments so there's anther 5+ hours gone since Mayo is 6 hours away. I'll be driving all day. YUCK! And I'm supposed to cut out caffeine completely too? Somethings just aren't fair hahaha

yeah mine is fully liquid for 2 weeks. I'm having my surgery done at the Mayo Clinic so they're particular but they've been great. I really can't complain about my care or any of my providers because they've all been super helpful and caring. I've learned to like the Liquid IV stuff, at first it was like drinking straight saltwater to me but I've always been super touchy with salt and never use much of it because you can get flavor so many different ways other than just adding salt. I dunno, I guess being an avid home cook helps in some ways because I'm not at a loss for what to add to things to make them taste better a lot of the time, but then again it sucks because I'm going to be cooking for my family and not able to eat it. It makes me sad but I'll live. It's just a few weeks. I'll be eating with my family again in no time. With as fast as times been flying I'm sure it'll be find before I even have much time to complain, haha, maybe, I hope...
