Guys I am having it bad right now. Under the regiment that my doctor has me on I can not have purées until week 4 which is still8 days away. I also have some texture problems when it comes to oatmeal or pudding. On week two I was allowed to start sugar free pudding and applesauce. The applesauce is way to sweet for me right now and it the no sugar added. Hasn’t made me dump but sure has made me nauseous. Tomorrow I can start oatmeal!! Yay for others not so much for me! I just want to taste something other than Protein Drinks. I have been doing my Water and Protein goal just fine it’s just getting hard to make myself drink it. It’s one more week and i know I can do it but it’s really still just another week of protein drinks and water. Also starting to get to my first stall which is kinda annoying but I know I just need to keep walking and drinking. I know it happens and understand why just one of those things you have to get pass. I have told my husband to take the scale away and I’ll measure myself on Wednesday and Sunday instead of everyday. Sorry for long rant just need to say it to other that understand.

Allison I totally understand!! I haven’t tried pudding as the unsweetened applesauce is more than sweet enough.
Finally had a real BM today. Not a green Brussels sprout. I feel so much better!! I am back on Miralax as I don’t want to go through that again.
The reason I shared the egg custard is it’s loaded with Protein not icky sweet and same consistency as pudding

I can drink like 32 oz of Water in like an hour. Is that normal? I’m 3 weeks post op.

Great question. I’d love to hear everyones input too.
I’m not even 2 weeks post op and am drinking alot as well. I went on a 2 mile walk yesterday, came back hot and sweaty then drank 20 oz gatorade zero in less than 30 minutes. my liquid intake and tolerance levels have increased.. did I stretch my pouch?😩

At my 2-week post op group class with the surgeon’s nutritionist at Miami UHealth, we were told to increase our water/liquid intake significantly. 3liters for those 200-250, and 3.5liters for 250-300. 1 liters is equivalent just over 33 ounces. I’m not there yet, but I can generally take in 80 ounces with no problem.

On another note I lost 9 pounds the first week and have been in a full stall for two weeks. I really hope it ends soon, but I feel good and am being patient to see weight loss after a period of healing.

Yes I can drink easily too, so grateful for that. I've had 2 good days in a row now with little nausea, feeling pretty good overall. Eating 3 to 4 ounces per meal. I've hit the stall too, actually put on a pound, not letting it worry me, just part of the journey. I'm so constipated so taking stuff, hope it works asap.

Yep Constipation was awful finally semi normal bm yesterday. What a relief! I can drink more Water just afraid of stretching my pouch. I am at a stall too, gained 2 lbs.
not walking as much as I should. Only 1 mile. See doctor tomorrow hope the drains come out. Anyone else have drains? I had some complications and think that may be why I have them. Also hope doctor moves me to soft food stage

I am able to put down liquids pretty easily as well. 32oz in an hour is definitely possible. I have averaged a little over 100 oz per day for the past 5 days. I don't think it is an issue at all because liquids (especially water) will just go right through your stomach if you don't have any food in their (can't remember if I am just making this up, or if I saw it on a youtube). As long as their isn't anything in your stomach to absorb the liquids, they pass through pretty quickly.

Hang in there Allison. To steal a line from Crossfit, you have to embrace the suck. It will be worth it in the end.

Yes liquids pass in 5 to 15 minutes, pretty quick. 100 ounces is amazing.

Good luck on the appointment, I never had drains fortunately, I was expecting them and dreading the removal. Hope all goes well!

I had a week of solid pain after my surgery, I believe it was gas buildup, but once it all passed I felt great, which surgery did you have? I had the bypass, but I heard the VSG is much more painful to recover from

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
