Decreased Libido - 2 months post-op

Recommended Posts

Curious if anyone else has experienced decreased libido in the months immediately following weight loss surgery? Im just under two months post op and I’m also recently 40 so I’m not sure if it’s age or surgery related though it’s only really been prominent since surgery.

While I’m feeling increased body positivity I’ve noticed a decline in the intensity of my craving for sexual gratification in general.

Not sure if it’s related to decreased predictability in how my body handles or the semi frequent nausea.

Is this normal? I’m hoping it’s temporary.

It's possible for changes in libido to occur after weight loss surgery, as the body is undergoing significant physical changes and adjusting to new dietary habits. It's not uncommon for patients to experience changes in hormones and energy levels during this time. If you are concerned about this issue, it's best to speak with your healthcare provider to rule out any underlying medical conditions and discuss potential solutions.

Hi, I'm 12 months post op and am experiencing the same thing. I was a little different in the few months post surgery in the fact that my libido did not change and my weight loss made me feel great so the desire was there. After about month 11 I noticed decreased desire and libido. I went to a specialist and after some blood work found I was borderline anemic and had decreased testosterone. Not enough to be considered "low-t" but lower than most men my age, 41. I'd encourage you to go have a full blood panel done around the 6 month mark. It may shed some light for you..

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
