Losing weight except Belly!!

Recommended Posts

I'm a newbie so maybe I am obsessing about nothing but I am about 2 weeks post-op and losing weight as expected. I'm not worried about the scale too much but I am so tired of the big middle I had and the thing is - it's still there!! The inches seem to be dropping everywhere EXCEPT my stomach. WTH? Is this normal? is the weight around your middle the last to go? This is depressing.

you'll lose fat from everywhere - just give it time...

Generally, it all depends where you carried your weight. You’ll lose weight all over but if you carried a lot in your tummy, this will take the longest to lose because you have more fat to lose there. If you carried more in your thighs & hips, this will be the area that seems to be the hardest to shift & will take longer to notice the difference.

It will happen, just give it time.

I had a trainer once describe losing weight as undressing. The first layer you put on is the last layer you take off. So most of us probably have had belly fat issues for a long while before we decide to have surgery, so that is likely the last place that'll start to give up it's excess.

6 months poat-Op and I still have a lot more to lose from the belly area. You do lose inches around it but damn it's slow. I have lost more from my breast and chest area than belly so even clothes fit weirdly 😂

I am just hoping by the end of the journey, my belly disappears for good or at least significantly smaller where it looks consistent with rest of my body.

I would call myself apple shaped so belly area was so significantly bigger.

I just said the same thing today to my BF . Im loosing everywhere but seems like my tummy staying big. Waiting for the middle to leave too. It is a lil depressing.

Agree with others, it will decrease in size with time. You may eventually have areas that are still bigger even a year out, but a lot may be skin that can be minimized with good undergarments.

LOL... You're two weeks out and you're expecting your stomach to be tiny? In addition to what everyone else said, your stomach may still be swollen from the surgery process itself.

I am 9 months out and my stomach still sticks out compared to what I expected for the size I wear (medium/10). Like others have said, it may be that it will always be where I carry excess weight and it may be that there's some excess skin in the mix.

You are still pretty early out so it will take a while to start to lose your belly but just so you know As we get older we carry weight more around our midsections so even if you are a size you have been before, assuming it has been a few years, your belly may be bigger this time that it was before.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
