I just started the pre op diet for two weeks yesterday. It's not too bad. My surgery is the 9th of May.

Mine starts tomorrow, and honestly, it's the part I'm dreading the most. HOW is a fat person supposed to get through a whole week with no food? ?? lol

So what are you having throughout the day to keep to liquid diet? So far I’m thinking of smoothie king smoothies, homemade broth, juice and Water. Oh can have Jello.

Thanks for telling us what you are eating for the liquid diet. Can you also have Protein Shakes?

Just liquids. So Protein Shakes, Protein Water, protein smoothies, various broths, and sugar free popsicles.

I know!!! Exactly 1 week away from surgery day!!! And I'm not even a little nervous about it. I'm more stressed about this stupid pre-op diet LOL

I have been allowed 100g of chicken or fish Per day. Also lots of vegetables. I just had a sugar free pineapple Jello that I made last night. Working out what you can eat and when is a distraction. Last night I had a Protein vegie Soup with 100 grams of poached fish and with extra vegies. That was a satisfying meal. Tonight I had chicken stir fry with garlic and ginger and a bit of soy. I have used a nutri bullet for the first time yesterday - that was fun. It has been so long since I have looked after myself properly that it's nice and somehow exciting to finally be actively working towards the Op.

I think the best way to get through this is to keep busy. Write journals - I started one last night. Set goals. Plan for the food that you can have after surgery. I did that today. Also writing a list for what you need in hospital. Take it day by day of hour by hour if you need to Diva,

Kick this preparation week to the curb. You got this. You need to do this. Your surgeon is counting on you. And You are counting on you too. Show up for yourself. Think of the thousands that have gone before us and got to the other side who are now living their best life. We got this. ☺️

My bypass surgery date is May 18 and I just started day 1 of my 3-week liquid diet today. For whatever reason, my surgeon decided to torture me with an extra week of the preop diet.

I am paying privately because the wait time for bypass surgery in my area is 5-7 years. There are also no private clinics available here. So I am flying to Montreal from Vancouver, Canada which is a 5-hour flight. I am not nervous about the surgery but I am nervous about fitting in my plane seat (I bought a seatbelt extender just in case). I am also nervous about blood clots so I have planned to get up from my seat every 30 minutes and stroll the aisles.

I am also anxious about getting covid before my surgery. I will get tested 2 days before my surgery and if it's positive my surgery will be postponed for 3 months, which would be a total nightmare. So, I decided to quarantine for the 3 weeks before surgery and literally never leave my house for any reason. That has also been a bit stressful, but I know it will all be worth it in the end.

Best of luck to everyone! I am so glad we are all on this journey together.

If Im not mistaken I believe muscle building protein can build muscle mass and potentially add weight

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
