Yes they are the best “bang for your buck” in terms of nutrition etc that taste good. I found the best price on them at BJ’s -good luck with your liver shrinking I’ll be starting mine 4/5

Thank you. We have a BJs near by. I'm going to start with a bottle or two from Walmart.

Thanks again.

Hi, Kimmy: Congrats on your date...and good luck! [emoji3515] I won't get a date until my stress test is complete. Stress test is next Tuesday 3/29.
Just to make things 'interesting,' my husband is having hernia repair on 4/7...he injured himself lifting rocks in our yard. I'm hoping for a surgery date of 4/11 so he has 4 days to 'recover.' I'm going to start the liquid diet on Wednesday the 30th. Because of my hiatal hernia, I still don't know if I am sleeve or RNY. [emoji2368]
Sorry to hear about your husband's upcoming surgery. I had hernia surgery about 8 years ago now and because of the mesh they used, the surgeon thinks the sleeve is probably the best choice for me.

My sleeve is slated for 04/06/2022 and today (03/23/2022) starting the liquid diet phase.
My sleeve surgery is also on the 6th but liquid phase is only 3 days before surgery for my surgeon's patients. I do start 1000 calorie diet on Monday though. How goes the liquid diet so far?

In anticipation of and hoping for a 4/11-ish surgery date (week of Spring Break), i'm going to start the Liver Reduction Diet next Wednesday, 3/30...the day after my stress test.

Can anyone recommend an approved Protein Shake that doesn't taste disgusting? I cannot stand the taste of Premier chocolate.

Thanks in advance. PS: I am typically very easy going about how things taste, but I do not like the taste of Premier.

I like premier but I hate the chocolate flavor, it is so gross, the strawberries and cream and vanilla are the least sweet tasting and the caramel, chocolate Peanut Butter, banana, Cookies & cream, birthday cake and chocolate mint are very sweet tasting. I hope this helps :)

I’m using the App for this question so if it ends up in the wrong place, I’ll do it over in a bit.
Odd question…but…I am probably having RNY (or sleeve) with Dr Pilati in Cary NC.
Here’s the question…it’s convoluted and long. Sorry.
The pre-procedure testing is extensive and I have only have the stress test to do on 3/29.
I have a large hiatal hernia diagnosed a week ago. Half of my stomach is in my chest which explains the worsening shortness of breath I’ve been experiencing. EKG normal.
I have all the markers for CIGNA to approve my surgery: BMI, HBP, high A1C, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, obstructive sleep apnea.
We know the hernia will be repaired during surgery. We KNOW there will be a surgery at least to repair the hernia.
WHY the stress test is my question? Does the diagnosis of the hernia preclude the need for a stress test?
I will not be able to do 7 minutes on the treadmill at an increasing speed and incline because I cannot breathe enough with the hernia. I’ve done 2 stress tests about 20 and 15 years ago when I was 100 lbs lighter (I was a long distance runner). THEY were Duffy in top shape.
I want to ask my surgeon we have to do it but don’t want him to think I’m being a pain in the butt.
Opinions/experience on need for stress test in this scenario?
Thanks in advance.

My hubby had to have a stress test before his surgery due to his age they said, he was 61. He had hip replacement surgery. They did a chemical stress test, no treadmill. I am sure they will do the same for you. Just ask.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
