When do we start taking our Vitamins? In all the classes I took, I didn't get any instructions for that.

My surgery was 2/3. I was on a clear liquid diet Thursday and Friday. I stayed on it Saturday just because I didn’t feel ready to go back to a regular liquid diet. My instructions were to start Vitamins when I started the full liquid diet, so I started yesterday. When the hospital called to check on me today they confirmed that I started my vitamins!

Hi - I also had my surgery on 2/3 and it took longer because of a hiatal Hernia. My sleeve (done in 2013had also stretched out a lot. Interesting for anyone who may be on the fence about revision). I was on Clear Liquids for the first 3 days and today I start shakes. I’ll PM you.

That would be great!

A very small number of people do have actual hunger pains immediately post surgery but it is more likely to be head hunger. One way to distinguish is that head hunger you usually crave something specific- usually something that’s not the best choice for you while actual

hunger even the healthiest (not favorite) choices sound good.

Thanks, @ShoppGirl. Today is my first day of full liquids and it’s been SO much easier getting my Protein count up. Hunger pains are only when I’ve gone too long between shakes so I’m feeling much more optimistic and encouraged.

Hi @freckledmegan! I started chewable multi on day 1. I got the Bariatric Advantage brand and they are tolerable enough. I start the calcium chews 1 month after. The same brand and the variety flavored pack. Those are actually tasty.

This was the surgeon’s suggestion following the VSG.

I started week 2 post op. B1 dissolvable, calcium citrate and chewable multi(gross)
Chewables are so disgusting. Not looking forward to make that a normal part of my routine.

At least you only need to do the chewable for a while and can go to good old swallow tablets eventually!

Started my pre-op liquid diet today and it has been hard. I got lots of sample packs of different Protein Shakes and waters to try. My pre-op diet is 2 shakes and 1 can of broth based Soup and 1-2 Sf Jello, yogurt or cottage cheese. I have a Water jug for bariatric peeps that holds 64 ounces. It has times on the side so you can keep up with getting it all in. It has little encouraging phrases along the way. Im having trouble finishing it all now. Im scared of how difficult it’s going to be post surgery. I guess practice makes perfect. I had my last pre surgery appt with nutritionist this morning. I am trying to keep myself busy to stop thinking about food.

Thanks for the advise!! I can't believe I didn't ask my surgeon or dietician during my 5 pre op meeting lol

Hi all,

My RNY is scheduled for 2/24/22 assuming elective surgeries continue (they were postponed in January but my date was not affected and I was able to have my endoscopy this morning). I start the milk diet on Thursday the 10th. From what I understand this is something that is more common in the UK but I am in the US.

I am getting excited but nervous!

Only 4 days post op but feel confident to say that the prep week was harder than the surgery! I was hungry all the time with zero energy. Try to stict as close to the prep diet as possible as it really does make your surgery shorter, with fewer complications and less residual pain. Mostly because the more you shrink your liver, the better off all those things are. Heard that from Bari and Hysterectomy surgeon. If you slip (which I did 2 times) in that week. I had 1 or 2 bites and followed it up with lots and lots of water.

Hi everyone, I’m scheduled for the sleeve on 2/16. It’s day 5 of pre-op Clear Liquids and I’m doing great! I have not had any headaches which was my biggest fear. Not sure if I’m getting all my fluids in per day, but I’m trying. This group is very helpful.

Good luck to everyone!

We’re surgery twins! Getting nervous/excited about the liquid diet starting Thursday.
I’m having mine done in New Orleans.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
