I’m on day 3 of my liquid diet, I ended up eating yesterday, it was small but I got back on track. I’m struggling a bit with my Protein Drinks. I was so use to mixing it with my iced coffee, that now without it I hate it, and have a tropical punch Protein Powder but it’s not filling. I’m definitely on the struggle bus with this.

Try not to beat yourself up. The lack of variety, hunger and constantly thinking about food can make this liquid diet so tough mentally and physically. I was really struggling a few days ago so I get it.

I went to the store and bought a variety of broths--pho broth is a nice change over the standard veggie and chicken broth. Having something warm and savory made all the difference in hunger and feeling satisfied. I remember someone mentioned wonton broth too. Have you found any Protein Shakes you like? I have about 6 brands of shakes in as many flavors as I could find. It does give variety making this more tolerable.

Stay strong, you're almost there!

My surgery is scheduled for Jan 18. I am supposed to start my full liquid diet on the 4th. I decided to start on the today. I figured Starting today would give me the weekend to go through the possible side effects of not having any food before I have to go back to work on Tuesday. I am super excited for the future.

What are some success tips???

Another Jan 18th here! I wished it could be before the end of the year but the more I think about the timing the more I like the date. I can still enjoy holiday cooking and start my 2 week pre op diet just as I would have started a diet in any other year LOL. My birthday is a few days before surgery so I told my family we would Celebrate with a nice meal and small cake BEFORE I have to start the pre op diet. The surgery will be the perfect birthday present to myself!
Me too!

Hey everyone! I am scheduled for January 24th! I’m nervous because I don’t live in the US (I am in Prague, Czech Republic) and so I’m paying out of pocket. The experience is so different. I basically sent an email and they sent me a surgery date and a basic post-op meal plan. That’s it! No consultations, no pre-op anything. I’ve opted to roll out my own pre-op diet that I started on the 1st, and then I’m going to follow a 2 week liver shrinking diet leading up to surgery. The surgeon told me no diet needed, but from where I’m standing, it can only help me.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
