Need help finding insurance that will cover the surgery

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Im completely new to all of this and i started the process to fill out all the requirements to have bariatric surgery approved by my insurance.
in that time my company changed insurance providers and we were told the plans would not change much but when the time came to submit

the request for approval they rejected my application because that type of surgery is not covered. So now i find myself desperately searching

online for a private provider that does cover the surgery because i dont want to loose all the work i already put into this. Any info anyone has would
be very much appreciated.

Thank you!

I do not know of any private insurance companies to help there but have you asked your hr dept if they can choose to have it covered?

i did since its open enrollment now and currently none of the plans include the surgery. They said its something they are looking into having added in the future but not for 2022 plans unfortunately.

So right now i can loose a year of time invested in this and wait "IF" they add it, appeal the rejection, or find another provider outside of work that covers it.

I understand your frustration and switching insurance companies would probably be my plan as well. Hopefully someone here will have an idea of which one to choose.

If you meet the requirements along with a 6 month documented diet through your surgery center Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield approved mine the very first time it was submitted.

they just don’t approve the Vitamins for some reason!! 🙄

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
